  1. Gotta like Brooks' size. He has plenty of offers, so I'm assuming he can play. I wouldn't mind having him, but what kind of PG is he? Is he pass first, or shoot first? What would JJ do with Alzee if he brought Brooks on? I'm not very concerned with the PG position in the future. I would rather find who's gonna take over for George O after this year.

  2. willie gault always had a touchdown return on kickoffs in that game...i'll take techmo bowl to win it saturday!!!

Tecmo bowl is probably my favorite game of all time.

If you were in the pocket longer than 2 seconds, LT sacked you... forget about extra points. LT blocked those.

Walter Payton, as in real life, was the man!

  3. It is frustrating to see you guys not give a crap about track but once a year. They do a hands down better job than the dadgum football team yet you think they suck because they don't win conference. Wake up, they are one of the better teams NT has. With more resources, no telling what those coaches could accomplish.

I agree with this. Hopefully, with the upcoming student fee increase, the T&F teams will have a little more dough to play with.

Good thing you weren't on the logistics team Welch. All they do is win 3 straight National Championships and there is a 1/2 page thread for them... T&F is great. I'm sure I speak for everyone else on the board when I say I love the Mean Green Track & Field team. I don't think we're the only fans/message board in the country that show less attention to T&F than football though. There are many other UNT teams that share your same arguement. Soccer. Tennis. Heck, even mens basketball! But I don't think you can argue against Football being the sport that butters the bread at UNT.

  4. When the United States soccer team plays Mexico ALMOST anywhere in the US, it is an away game for the Americans.

I went to the friendly between the U.S. & Guatemala at PHP in 2007. I think your observation goes for all Central American countries.

Before this game, I would stand silently with my hand over my heart while the Star-Spangled Banner played, like most people do. After hearing the Guatemalans in the crowd sing their anthem, I sang ours as loud as I could, and I still sing it loud to this day every time it's played.

  5. The decision that these folks make is beyond enormous. There is so much riding on it. There is not a good reason for our university to miss out on the climb to tier 1 status. The next president will be the person that takes us there, or fails completely. In the meantime, hopefully Mr. Rawlins will not flub the whole thing up.

Our love for UNT athletics is obvious, and I absolutely believe that athletics are the "window to the university"... but there are slightly more important things that the next president will need to tackle if we're to obtain tier 1 status.

Neglecting athletics will be a terrible mistake, but growing our endowment/research funding, fostering a better relationship with alumni, raising academic standards, and hiring the best faculty possible are all a little more important than our beloved athletics.

  6. Since the conference re-alignment talk will not die, and the participation has slowed a little, and everyone else seems to have provided a perfect solution; I'll go ahead and throw in my dream conference scenario:

    THE AWESOME CONFERENCE

    School Division:

    UNT

    UT

    A&M

    OU

    OSU

    NCTC

    Entertainment Division:

    The Office

    HDTV

    Sir Mix-a-lot

    iPhone

    Shiner Bock

    Medium-rare steaks

No member can join the conference unless they can field competitive whirlyball and ski-ball teams.

  7. People really dont understand the definition of racial profiling. If they did, they would know that this law in no way would increase the possiblity of racial profiling.

OK. You can count me as one of those who do not know what racial profiling is then. Can you clarify?

Here's a hypothetical situation... lets work from this:

A hispanic male is pulled over for speeding in Arizona. He speaks broken english, but is a U.S. Citizen. Should the officer ask him for documentation of residency other than a drivers license (which could be counterfeit)? If so, and it is provided, then what? I believe the citizen can challenge the municipality in court, correct?

    Is that not racial profiling?

In the same situation, 99.9% of the time, white/black folks will not be asked for this info.

  8. So what would be considered "reasonable suspicion" in this situation?

    Therein lies the problem.

I suppose you would also have to ask this of pretty much anyone with an accent(regardless of color)? I'm a honky so I'll be left alone. The issue is evident. If you're here illegally, you're here ILLEGALLY. You need to leave and wait your turn to come here.

But, what happens when an officer asks a citizen for id but they are hispanic? Will that municipality look forward to lawsuits based on racial profiling?
