  1. I know I was on my feet. I saw alot of other people standing and cheering as well.
  2. This is as un-American as women with hairy armpits. You need to apologize to the Green Brigade and HOPE that they forgive you for this atrocious recommendation.
  3. It's transient kitsch... not the bloody Cuban missile crisis!
  4. This is a good illustration. Did you graduate from this restaurant? Did attending this restaurant for 4 years get you a degree that got you a nice carreer? rcade, you are obviously a fan, or you wouldn't be on this board. Are you really going to jump ship now, or are you just saying that out of frustration? That question could be asked to a few others on this board as well...
  5. And with no track separating the playing surface from the stands, mgbob is going to have to speak quickly because RV will have easy access to him in the Pit.
  6. Well, it DID work once for a first down earlier in the game. It's not like the package never ever works. However, rather than working on this package, I hope the coaching staff is throwing extra resources at special teams during practice this week!
  7. It looks like our CB's are getting burned sometimes so they can't keep up with the reciever without looking straight ahead (you slow down when you turn around), and our safeties have skillets for hands (DaWaylon had 2 that should have been picked).
  8. That's a good, fair question. One that I don't have the answer to, but hopefully we don't see it again unless it is much more polished.
  9. 1 drive of Riley running some poorly called (or poorly read) plays is DEFINITELY NOT what cost us this game.
  10. Craig recovered a fumble and had 11 tackles (5 solo), including a TFL. He was ball-hawking all game as usual.
  11. Here's an idea for kickoffs: With 23K fans in the stadium, I'm sure if all of the fans blew as hard as we could, between everyone on the student side and the alumni side, we could get the ball to stay in the middle of the field. Although I think the Green Brigade might throw the balance a little... We'll tell them to blow at mezzo-piano strength.
  12. I guess my question for you Emmitt is: If it's completely justifiable for these fans you speak of to swear off watching until there's a regime change, then why are you still watching? I think the answer is, it's not OK... that's why you still show up. That's why I still show up. Why would you continue to subject yourself to these losses? Because you are a FAN! I don't know all of the details on the fans you speak of, but to me they reek of "fair-weather fandom". We need more fans like you and fewer fans like the ones you speak of.
  13. I'm not sure how I missed this incident since I sit in Sec.C, but if it indeed went down like some of you have described, then there is no way I could blame RV for his reaction. He's probably one of the biggest UNT FANS out there right now. I believe he cares deeply for UNT, the coaches, and the players (on all teams). First, the game situation was extremely frustrating. Then, you have a loudmouth fan who has every right to say the things he did, but not enough brains to shut up after saying them after the first time. If I were RV, I would get fired up as well. I love RV! His passion rivals only those of us on this board. Lay off of him.
  14. I swear I saw McCoy out there in a 3-4 scheme for the first defensive series in the second half, before Shavod came back in (ankle heavily taped by the way). AK dropped into zone coverage. It actually worked very well. We forced them to a 3-out if I recall correctly.
  15. I wonder if that number is including the 5-10K bogus tickets that boosters buy to up attendance? That's really low for how well their team is playing now.
  16. You played a great game Nate! Praying for a speedy recovery. Get well soon sir!
  17. I disagree and am shocked that this is the prevailing thought on this game. Special teams play was horrendous. Muffed kickoff, blocked punt, kicking out of bounds, letting punts that should be fair caught go over their heads, boneheaded penalties... Ugh! The only things I could possibly lay at coach Gandy's feet are the punts that should have been fair caught, and MAYBE the blocking on the blocked punt (depends on if a player missed his assignment). Everything else was player mistakes. These things were probably done a million times during practice without these dumb mistakes (or I'm sure coaches would have corrected that), and we all knew going into this season that our kicking game was going to be the weakest link of the team. What can coach Gandy do about that? What can coach Dodge do about that?? On offense, we were fantastic. Shovel pass to Dunbar was awesome! Tune to Stradford for 75yds was awesome! I was scratching my head when they decided to run the same Zone-read play with Riley in the Rice red zone too. But, coach Canales calls the plays around here correct? Some poor throws by Tune (some great throws by Tune too!) and how on earth do any of the coaches catch the sure TD that a scrambling Thompson threw to JJ, only to see him drop it? How is this Canales' or Dodge's fault? On defense, WOW! These guys did great considering the field position they were given all day. It seemed like every 1st half Rice drive started within field goal range. Great play from these guys and I gotta give coach DLo & Dodge some credit. This unit, other than a few instances of poor tackling and 2-3 poor 1-on-1 cb play(where the loss of Ford hurt us badly), I can't find much fault here. The vaunted RB McGuffie had 18yds on 14 carries! If Dodge is torn down for other mistakes, where is his praise for the way the defense played? Good Gosh people! THE TEAM (including players & coaches) LOST THIS GAME! Everyone who says moral victories are no good, you're absolutely right. Hopefully our guys learn from last night and improve. Coaches need to do their jobs of pointing out and helping correct mistakes, and players need to perform.
  18. I think i just saw 3 guys CARRY Shavod off the field... For those of you listening to Jub & Hank, did they mention anything??
  19. Kevin Durant is a monster. If he improves at all (not really much to improve) on his play last year, he'll be MVP.
  20. I was sitting outside of a classroom in Wooten Hall waiting for my first class of the day. It was a US History class. Some sorority chick came up and sat down next to some other sorority chick and said, "Omigosh, did you hear someone tried to blow up the World Trade Center?" I thought, "Oh, that happened in the 90's and it was pretty pathetic, so I think it's OK." Once we get about 20 minutes into class (on a Tuesday, so it was a 90min class), the dean of History popped his head in the door and said that we need to turn on the TV because history is happening. Our crochety old, former Marine professor said "no" because we had too much stuff to cover. Both towers fell during that class. I drove back to my apt. afterward and watched CNN all day, in total shock. GOD BLESS AMERICA!
  21. Ugh. I hope JJ can fill his scholly with someone who can play this year. We really need to get young players some PT this season so that all of our eggs are not in Jordan Williams'/Jacob Holmen/Alzee Williams basket. Hogans' extra year is starting to look like a blessing now. Hopefully Redmond can contribute. Also, I hope Ronald stays committed after he gets finished at Paris. He should do well there under coach Taylor.
