  1. I knew we were gonna win as soon as Roberson fouled out with about 2 min left to play in regulation. What a heckuva game! Tristan didn't find his shot until late in the second half, but when he did he couldn't miss and that opened up Josh to go ballistic on them in OT.

Hogans was AWESOME, covering Singletary really well tonight on D. Watching the banners go up before the game was awesome as well. So proud of the Mean Green tonight!

  2. And small time thinking like this is exactly why we'll never get Zombie Landry here.

Look, even if we got enough money (is that what zombies are paid with?) scratched together to pay Zombie Landry, how in the world would we pay his assistants? Everyone knows that a zombie coach is no good unless the right zombie assistants are on board as well.

Oh, and too bad for Tre. Enjoy regular life as a fan like the rest of us dude!

  3. Nope. I expect to beat Tech at home. No need to rush the court. We can do that again in Hot Springs as we take down WKU in the finals to go to the dance B)

Yep. We're winners. We've won over 20 games a year for the past 5 years. No need to do this.

Unless it's some kind of barn-burner, triple digit, 3OT, buzzer beater win, then we don't need to storm the court.

  4. I was just thinking of how rude we're being by hanging all our banners in front of our guests from Texas Tech.

We won our conference, and we're hanging a banner. They didn't win theirs.

We won our tournament, and we're hanging a banner. They didn't win theirs.

We earned an NCAA berth, and we're hanging a banner. They didn't get one.

Maybe we could hang up something temporary to make the Red Raiders feel special? Something to remind them of their "accomplishments" from the 2009-10 season?

Maybe we can get something printed up before tipoff. We wouldn't want to be impolite.

Why don't we just chug on over to mamby-pamby land so we can find Tech some self confidence? We're the MEAN Greenyou jackwagon!

Tech, you get nothing but the agony of defeat tonight!

    Go Mean Green!

  5. I agree with the thrust of what monkeypox has said. One of the players who gives Canales some love is Phillip Rivers, who may or may not play a little QB in the League.

Besides, I like this whole coaching staff. The defense is turning in its best performance since 2004. In fact, I think we may be getting close to the 2004 squad in terms of sacks.

And, here's another thing, Sports Fans...we could have a defense that gives up less than 300 points in a season for the first time since 2003.

But, what do we have? A fan base that would throw what is turning out to be a pretty good coaching staff with good chemistry out the window.

Well, not me, Mister! If this team wins Saturday, I say hire them all back. All of them. Even the young OL coach who has had to do some juggling this year with injuries. Bring them all back and have them recruiting as their pumpkin pie is settling in the stomachs.

These guys are doing a whale of a job!

I think it would be difficult to retain all coaches when the DC already has 1 foot out the door. If Canales gets the gig , would DLo consider sticking around another year? 2? more? I don't know.

  6. The sad thing about this?

I was halfway through and didn't realize it was a bit until I saw your avatar and realized who was posting it.

Things have gotten rough around here lately.

    Yes, that is sad.

It was absolutely a bit. ArkStFan is my favorite SBC poster (re: non-UNT-homer) on here hands down.

  7. Is it any surprise to anyone that this troll Arkstfan would start such a thread?

I think I've seen this guy on the SMOO board as "PonyDoh", and he is a staunch liberal and/or tea bagger. I mean look at when he joined the board... July 18th 2002? Strangely, that's the year after Johhny Jones was hired. Does anyone else see his motives? He's here mongering for ARSt to hire JJ by talking up Fouts field as he always does.

What's next Arkstfan? Wind Turbines? Thanks for nothing!

  8. Figured we should get this one started. Banner raising night, Big XII school, thousands of fans, etc..

ULM hung with Tech for a good while IN Lubbock. So, despite our sluggish early play, this is most definitely a game we can win.

Outside of Roberson and Singletary (and Henderson, but he can't play this year), do they have anyone that we would covet?

  9. The 71 some odd kids in letter jackets were not all recruits. There was some high school event that was scheduled for that day, not sure what it was, but there was a tent set up out north of Fouts for it. Several of them sitting down in front of us were not even big enough, in my opinion, to play varsity high school much less be d1 college talent.

I'll add on to this by saying that I was walking to my seats and ran into a group of about 15 - 20 of these kids (all in gray sweatshirts with "El Paso ..." (I didn't catch the school name). I think a large group of players from 1 school came out and maybe 1 or 2 of them would be around D-1 size.

  10. From the Book of Football Coaching, Rule #16: Never take points off of the scoreboard.

You are in a "must-win" game very late in the season, and are down by 3 in the 4th Quarter, with 2:00 remaining. Your #1 and #2 QB's are out, as well as the starting Center, 2 Wide Receivers, 2 lineman and the Diet Coke Boy missed the bus to the game. You drive down to into the Red Zone, kick a Field Goal to tie the score, but there is an Off-Sides Penalty that would give you a first down. What do you do? You have a trick play in the playbook that you saw South Florida, Clemson and Texas Tech run that won them a game back in 2007...will that play work in 2010?

The entire season rests on the outcome of this game, What do you do?

I think it depends: If the penalty put me inside the 5 yardline somewhere... I'd probably take the 1st down and go for the win.

  11. Haven't heard his name kicked around at all:

"As the Head Coach of his alma mater, the University of Tennessee Volunteers for 17 years, Phillip Fulmer coached and motivated his players to win over 74% of their games.

Coach Fulmer built his teams into SEC East Champions seven times; SEC Champions twice; and brought a National Championship to the University of Tennessee for the first time in 41 years after completing a perfect 13-0 season in 1998."

I would put Fulmer on a different level than even Leach. I just don't think we have the funds to get him AT ALL (and I'm not too sure he wants to coach anywhere else).

If a rabbit came out of RV's hat and Phil Fulmer was hired, I would be on cloud 9. You wouldn't be able to wipe the smile off of my face.

  12. 22pts, 14rbs, 5blks from the Hogans-Holman-Edwards troika tasked with replacing Trammy. I doubt one of those guys steps in and fills Eric's void by himself...but combined game lines like that will make me happy.

Yes. Sign me up for that kind of production from those 3 for the remainder of the year please!

In a perfect world, I would like to see a little more from Holmen and Edwards though.

  13. How can we judge Canales on the record for the remainder of this season when he has another coach's players on the field? He needs four years to turn this thing around with HIS players raiding the bare cupboards passing us by for this HUGE three game stretch. Can he? Will he?

    My mind is blown.
