  1. How the hell does that work? It's just over, one day early, because the weather was bad?

Isn't this like stopping a football game after 3 quarters because of lightning? I know the Sun Belt doesn't do that.

What did you expect from the Sun Belch? I can tell you this: Conference USA would not have let this happen. Maybe we should investigate moving to that conference.

  2. Like SMU is giddy over the possibility of a 5k turnout at Moody, as an enticement for the game.

It's been rumored that you guys love money and stuff? I believe 5k (rather than <1K) at the gate would be pretty good enticement to play a game against lil' ol' UNT. Ask your A.D. Now, is that $ worth more than the black eye you are sure to take with the game? Maybe not.

Get real and bring something to the table.

I thought we did that? A winning basketball program. Dont you want to try and beat a winner? That way, maybe SMU could be a winner too!

Would you take a 2 for 1? lol

Oh, now you're just pandering... Get back to breaking down local b-ball talent. That's what you're good at.

  3. Like to see local good players get a chance - they are just as good as the ones that have been mentioned - lets see who is picked by the staff and see how skills match up - my guess is that who ever we sign they will not have averaged more than 10 points per game and 8 rebounds.

I hope you've seen our incoming class. If not, let me highlight...

Please keep in mind, these guys (except Forrest) went against some of the best players in the state night-in and night-out.

Jordan Williams: PPG-29.7 RPG-9.5 (This is the kind of guy we're after)

    Chris Jones: PPG-16.6 RPG-4.8 APG-6.9 (ok. Chris didn't have 8 rpg, but he's a PG)

    Trey Norris: PPG-16.4 RPG-1.1 APG-3.7 (another PG)

Forrest Robinson: PPG-21.4 RPG-9.2 (Forrest is your closest comparison. This guy would run circles around the two you mentioned).

For comparison's sake, I included our JUCO and transfers' H.S. stats:

*Brandon Walton: I cant find his H.S. stats

    *Tony Mitchell: PPG-20.5 RPG-13.2 (please)

*Roger Franklin: PPG-32.5 :o RPG-7.3 (This guy averaged 20 more ppg at DUNCANVILLE than the two you mentioned)

These guys are probably really good in 9-3A, but they don't have any offers from anyone and dont belong in the 31st ranked recruiting class in the NCAA.

  4. Hayden Smith - from Sanger is also avaible - Hayden is a first team District 9-3A selection this season- Smith teamed up with John Johnson as one of Sangers top scorers while leading the team in rebounds - Smith averaged 10.6 points per game and 8.2 rebounds while shooting 44 percent from the floor.

Are you serious, or are you just a huge 9-3A fan?

This is the second player from that district you have mentioned as someone that would top your wish list for the final basketball scholarship. These guys would be lucky to walk-on at Northwestern State in Wichita Falls, let alone take up one of our valuable schollies.

  5. Not a lot out there left , but ....

    1) Dwight Miller

    2) Kyan Anderson

    3) Tre Davis ( might be available again)

    4) KC Ross Miller

    5) Ben Dillard

    6 ) Luke Mergerson

    7) Erron Chesterfield

I think if #1 doesn't work out , #4 will be coming to Denton

I'm also leaning towards Miller, but would love to have a scoring SG to backfill McGhee. We don't really have that guy right now, unless JJ plans to use JWilliams there, or Alzee may move over there full time?

  6. I certainly don't have love for Javier... racist!

I don't know if we were really a player in the Jarion sweepstakes, but I think we'll be OK that he passed on us. I'm NOT saying that we "didn't need/want him anyway", but I AM saying that Ben Dillard is looking better and better (would really rather have a JUCO guy come in and contribute early though). Any word on Ben?

  7. Top 5 basketball states & their top 5 programs

    TEXAS

    1. Texas: Rick Barnes has guided the Longhorns to a school-record 13 consecutive NCAA tournaments.

    2. Baylor: The Bears went from the cusp of the “death penalty” to the Elite Eight in less than a decade. Next season’s team should be Scott Drew’s best.

    3. Texas A&M: First Billy Gillispie and now Mark Turgeon. Someone in College Station has an eye for coaches.

    4. UTEP: Tim Floyd will keep the Miners where they’ve been for years now – near the top of the C-USA standings.

    5. Texas Tech: It won’t be long until the Red Raiders are back in the NCAA tournament.

Hmmm. #5 is intriguing. Perception is reality? The score says no.

  8. I still have about 18 years before I have to make this decision, but I hope my thought process at that time is the same as how I'm thinking now: "Where does she want to go?", then we can hammer out pros & cons. Cost will probably be a huge factor...

She'll already know how great UNT is because my wife and I will educate her, but if an elite academic institution comes calling, then that will be up to her to decide upon.

Now, if she ever says she wants to go to SMU, I'll have to give her up for adoption.

  9. What's the Brain Trust's take on Ron Paul? He certainly has some off-putting stances (women's rights, environment) but there are a lot of things to like here, and he appears to be the only potential candidate who actually allows cerebral reason and personal conviction to dictate his political stances.

Certainly wouldn't want his son any where near the ticket, though...

I don't think it would matter if he was the greatest candidate in the world... as long as he is billed a libertarian, he will never win the presidential office.

You win being either a Republican or a Democrat only. Too much idiocracy to try and run under any other billing. We know where the polar conservatives and liberals will vote. The moderates are usually moderate because they don't have strong enough opinions to be polar conservatives or liberals, so they will vote for one or the other with views most similar to theirs (and a "what will you do for me" attitude).

Libertarians need not apply to moderates for votes, so libertarians will never win... Unless, some SERIOUS grassroots movement springs up advocating libertarians.

  10. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp_world_business/view/1123619/1/.html

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/senators-chinese-junket-is-shrouded-in-secrecy/2011/04/19/AFhndp7D_story.html

The U.S. S & P rating will be dropped from its AAA rating. The first article sums everything up that is easily understood. Coupled with the second article stating that China has summoned the American government for "secret" talks! Sounds as though our government is getting ready to go the to "woodshed" for a much unpleasant experience.

No wonder....the Chinese have been telling our government for the past two years to cut its debt for obvious reasons but our elected officials have ignored the warnings. It is not just one party to blame but both. A couple of weeks ago Nancy Peloci stated that there is "no" difference between the Democrats and Republicans but the one thing that both fear is the Tea Party.

    What else is happening:

*****Approaching the highest gas prices ever.

*****Food prices have escalated approximately 35-40% over the last 18 months.

    *****Gold at its highest.

    *****Silver at its highest.

    *****Copper at its highest.

*****Approximately 45-48% of Americans DO NOT pay income tax.

*****Republicans only got approximately 380 million in defiet cuts a couple of weeks ago instead of billions.

The US can not pay its interest debt now....wait when our credit rating drops and we get the higher interests, additonal taxes, and above all a much much lower standard of living and more people falling through the cracks to unemployment and welfare.

My question is what has the United States already bartered and is willing to barter to relieve some of this debt to the Chinese?

Send CheckFacts or a representative from the Denia Homeowners association to argue on our behalf?

  11. You thought this thread was dead & gone, but no! :jig:

So, now that we are getting close to seat selections, is anyone still interested in doing this?

I'm thinking of sitting somewhere in section 104, 106, 205, or 208 ($250 mgc level). Anyone else looking at these sections? Wanna sit by me?

  12. I got my ticket renewal/seat assignment letter today.

The chairback option is available just like it was at Fouts.

    $40 apiece.

My wife went and picked up our letter and I saw this. I don't recall it being that much in years past... oh well.

  13. Agree with the general sentiment, but not the specific wording here. These are still a lot of freshmen and the majority of the team has never played together before and never in an NT uniform. Day 1 is a little ambitious... There are going to be unavoidable mistakes and a bit of a learning curve as they get used to playing as a team.

But what should have been a rebuilding year has potentially turned into a rebuilding month or month and a half... This team could be very dangerous by the time the new year hits.

    Why can't I +1 (or maybe -1) this comment??

    :o You're one of THEM now!?! :o
