  1. For a school like ours, absolutely. For a school like DBU... you strengthen your already-ranked baseball program.
  2. Your story sounds very familiar. Believe me. So forgive me if it's very difficult to understand why you would condemn these young men for jumping at an opportunity to make life-changing money by playing a sport they've worked so hard at for over 1/2 of their lives. If some P5 school's collective says they're going to cut you a check for $500k-1million... what on Earth would that do for your mother? I know what it would have done for mine.
  3. Until he signs elsewhere, there's definitely a chance he could come back. KD Davis did!
  4. Some folks around here did not grow up with any financial difficulties, and it shows. Count your blessings, and don't assume you know the decisions these guys are having to make.
  5. If he wants to come home to play, that would be amazing as well.
  6. He played at Vanderbilt for crying out loud. Of course his stats don't add up. He had to deal with SEC teams instead of SBC & AAC teams. Put Rogers in a Commodores helmet and I wonder how he does (heck, maybe we'll find out!) He played SEC football, and got a degree from Vanderbilt. That is a success to me. I promise I'm not saying that lightly, and definitely not out of spite to poo-poo Rogers. Ask any of our Parker County residents who happened to see Seals play. Now, it seems he just wants to ball close to home, and if he wants to go into business, UNT has some extremely competitive graduate programs in that arena... not to mention an insanely-successful alumnus who runs one of the most successful Tax firms in America, who probably could get him a nice position upon graduation if he so chooses.
  7. It's time for Coach O to start collecting some receipts to show us fans later.
  8. If Morris can land Seals (as much as I love what Rogers did for us this year, he was amazing), I'd say we upgraded.
  9. When the donors that were responsible for an overwhelming amount of that collective's seed money want him to run it, then he runs it. It's their money, they can choose who they want to oversee it. He wasn't appointed by anyone at UNT. The school is not able to be a part of it. It is what it is.
  10. I can't really give this enough "Thanks" upvotes, but you definitely got one from me.
  11. Make it happen! Aren't you somewhat-close to his family? If there's interest, please reach out and contact the coaching staff ASAP.
  12. Any of the guys in this thread want to revisit their takes? Barry Odom did indeed find a good OC, as yours-truly indicated he would need to (a fantastic young offensive mind: Brennan Marion), and took a 5-7 UNLV team to 9-4 (including a MWC Championship appearance)... in just one year! That's crazy how he could do something like that! I mean, if you listen to folks around here, regressing from 6-6 to 5-7 is reasonable, and "nothing to be ashamed of"!!!1!!1!!! Meanwhile, Coach Odom is actually WINNING. Missed opportunity. Bring on the downvotes!
  13. https://calbears.com/news/2023/12/3/football-bloesch-elevated-to-offensive-coordinator-o-line-coach Baylor hired Spavital a few days ago, so Cal stays in-house. This was a no-brainer move for Cal (who's doing it the right way, promoting him to OC/O-Line... not OC/QBs), and I hope they do well. Bloesch is a really good OC. Hope they find a designated QBs coach to replace Spav though, otherwise if their QBs have any technical/mechanical issues, they're screwed. Cole Johnson is also still there as an Offensive GA as well.
  14. Oh yes. There'll be plenty of "See! Told-ya-so!"s to go around if they get their doors blown off by Georgia (which they likely will).
  15. I'd say FSU has every right to claim a "National Championship" like UCF does, if they happen to beat Georgia (the reigning champs, and likely a better team than at least both FSU & Texas) in the Orange Bowl.
  16. Selfishly, I really hope he sticks at OU as OC as long as possible, and doesn't get another HC gig anytime soon. It's a good job, especially for him, as an alumnus. ...because if he does get another HC shot, and he succeeds beyond what he did here, it only furthers NT's reputation as a coaching black hole.
  17. https://www.yahoo.com/news/jeff-wilson-jr-impacting-dolphins-143329019.html The Dolphins love him. I hope he gets more opportunities there, but there's a backlog of RB depth in Miami at the moment.
  18. Frank Harris as QB1?? His stats are worse than both Henigan & Stone (not to mention Rogers, and even Zeno!). Just stupid. Obviously, you have to win. That is the main statistic.
  19. We're done paying him in January. So maybe a little.
  20. Sometimes you step in the bullshit. Sometimes you use it to fertilize. Just gotta watch your step, I suppose.
  21. How do you think we would have done this past season if we didn't pull Rogers out of the portal ourselves? It works both ways.
