  1. I don't have a problem with a D2 AA, if we're not having to rely on him as the go-to guy right away. Certainly can be a scoring option for us, but yeah, with the deliberate pace we play offensively, it's tough to drain shot clock, then kick to a guy like Wells with 3-5 seconds left & expect him to hit with the same efficiency he was hitting at Central OK. I don't think it would be a wasted scholarship though. Kai was great in his role here.
  2. Pretty much the exact scenario happened last year. Stone started the season, and underperformed. The offense was somewhat-saved by one of the better QBs we've seen around here in a while not named Fine. The defense was not saved... at all.
  3. Sure! Not nearly as big as the ones who are breaking off though. Washington State and Oregon State have large money commits. Pitt, Louisville, Wake Forest, etc... all do too. But they're not USC/Washington/Oregon/Clemson/FSU/etc...
  4. Rhubyn's contributions should definitely put him in the HOF conversation.
  5. HIIIIIIIIGHLY doubtful. Dudes that get "pushed out" are the ones who aren't contributing (See Morgan and Moore for us recently), not dudes who are starting games for you. That would be like Hodge pushing Stone or Walker out over guys like Moore/Morgan.
  6. I think without Rubin for a lot of the season, he sorta 'seized' that opening. Nothing wrong with that really, as we needed someone to step up. Who's to say he couldn't do the same as Tylor & Javion, and improve from year 1 to year 2?
  7. Pointing out his liabilities is not really warranted, as we'd all be thrilled if he returned. It's not really fair to compare him to Perry either. They had different strengths, and Perry was here for 2 years & improved from year 1 to year 2.
  8. He was a JUCO guy last year, and only played here 1 year, so unless he had a huge classload (20+hrs/semester) plus maymester & summer classes... I highly doubt this. I bet he finds his way to a SEC or ACC school though. Best of luck to him. Leaves a scoring void though. Get on the phone with Ivy-Curry! He would be an excellent addition to the line of explosive JUCO players we've had over the past 5 years!
  9. Apparently this is funny to SMU guy. Also, don't forget Louisville & Pitt in that "leftover" bin.
  10. Y'all really are clueless. I bet Duke is watching the addition of Cal/Stanford/SMU, and the attempts by FSU/Clemson to buy out (I bet others aren't far behind) carefully. ACC will be a dinosaur (like the PAC12) soon enough. Enjoy your couple of years with it in tact. I honestly hope to have SMU back in the AAC when the dust settles.
  11. He really deserves some rest with no expectations after putting up with SMU's crap for the past couple of years.
  12. Big time transfer! Juco Region 5 player of the year from Hill College. https://meangreensports.com/news/2024/3/25/womens-soccer-soccer-signs-jamaican-senior-national-team-midfielder https://njcaaregion5.com/sports/wsoc/2022-23/players/daviarichardsj5lj
  13. GREAT news! Recruiting starts in your own house these days. Glad Tommisha is sticking around!
  14. Xavier might still be a little too far from home. I expect he'll find a Big East or A10 (maybe Colonial or MAAC) school closer to NYC.
  15. His height is probably what is keeping a lot of bigger programs away, but last time we picked up an undersized PG from a neighboring state that everyone else passed on (way back in 2007), we wound up with a HOF'er. 🤞
  16. I always thought, each time we played them over the past 2 years, we could beat FAU... until "Davis time". Then: I'll be so glad when that guy is gone.
  17. As long as Kennedy is at UAB, they will continue to be a thorn, and it doesn't look like Charlotte is going anywhere. Does Memphis do anything over the offseason? It's nice to have a team that's always contending. We actually have to think about what the other contenders are doing to keep up/be better!
  18. We could run the most perfect offense in the world and score 40ppg... we'd still get 45+ hung on us every week with this defense. Hodge's defense is not in the same neighborhood as Morris/Caponi.
  19. It's like having to play against the Triple-option in football. Just a different animal. I love it.
  20. It works both ways. I bet OU wasn't too happy to lose one of their brighter young guys last year in Noland (a guy who started 8 games for them as a sophomore). But Noland wanted more run, and he found that here. I'm glad he did. I bet OleMiss wasn't too happy to lose Allen (a 13-game starter last year), but I'm thankful they did. It's just a part of the game you have to play. Recruiting is a different animal now.
  21. There's no recruiting dropoff. Hodge is likely more relatable than McCasland anyway. Coach Hodge brought in Edwards, Noland, Buggs, Walker & Allen over the last cycle. Also, Phil Forte, who is a good coach/recruiter. The two HS kids we have lined up appear to be nice players (Taylor ranked the #20PG in this class), and based on last year's success, I think it's safe to say he knows what he's doing when finding guys in the portal & JUCO.
  22. Rice got better, no doubt. But coach is gonna be shocked at the stark contrast in admin & booster support between SMU & Rice.
  23. Mentioned starting at Coffeyville... bypassed his biggest accomplishments... went into massive props for KSU.
