  1. Thanks for the birthday wishes. We have had some good times tailgating over the years!
  2. I believe we will see Jeff Bower as our next head coach. Our athletic department is full of Southern Miss ex-employees/alumni. Paul Batchelder enters his eighth year with North Texas Athletics. The Senior Associate Athletic Prior to joining to the Mean Green in July of 2003, Batchelder served as the assistant athletic director at Southern Miss. Brian Bethea serves as associate athletic director for facilities and event management. Prior to coming to North Texas, Bethea served as a student assistant for the Southern Miss athletic department in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. For two and a half years, he worked in the marketing & promotions and external affairs office. Dustin Hill enters his 10th year as the director of sports medicine at North Texas. Hill earned his master's of science in sports administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. Upon completion of his master's degree, Hill remained at the University of Southern Mississippi as the associate head athletic trainer. Chris Moore joined the North Texas Athletics Department in the spring of 2009 as the assistant athletic director for compliance. He began his career as the compliance assistant at the University of Southern Mississippi for a year, while completing a graduate degree in sports administration. A 1999 graduate of Southern Miss in finance, Moore worked at Southern Miss in admissions and with the alumni association before pursuing a career in compliance. Chris Seroka is beginning his 11th year with the North Texas strength and conditioning program and his 10th as the head strength and conditioning coach. A 1988 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, he was a three-year letter winner in football while also earning two letters in baseball. Rick Villarreal received his bachelor’s degree in coach and sports administration from Southern Mississippi in 1989. Jamie Adams starts his sixth year as director of promotions at North Texas. He received his master's degree in sports management from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2002 where he served as a graduate assistant in facilities and event management.
  3. I had posted this information on another thread, but talking about Tier 1 and the Big 12, I found it interesting how most of the BCS auto bid conferences have Tier 1 or 2 universities as members. Big Ten – all members of the Association of American Universities and all are Tier 1. PAC Ten – 7 are members of the Association of American Universities and all but 1 is either Tier 1 or 2. Big 12 – 7 are members of the Association of American Universities and 9 are Tier 1 or 2. ACC – 5 are members of the Association of American Universities and all are Tier 1 or 2. SEC – 2 are members of the Association of American Universities and all but 3 are Tier 1 or 2. Big East – 3 are members of the Association of American Universities and half are either Tier 1 or 2. Non BCS auto bid conferences: C-USA – 2 are members of the Association of American Universities and most are Tier 3 or 4. MAC – none are members of the Association of American Universities and most are tier 3 or 4. MWC - none are members of the Association of American Universities and universities range from Tier 1 to 3. WAC - none are members of the Association of American Universities most are Tier 3 or 4. Sun Belt - none are members of the Association of American Universities and most are Tier 4. Bottom line for getting an invite to another conference is what can you bring to the table? Winning athletic teams and the media market they are located in are not enough. I believe academics play a large role in the decision. The university presidents make the decision not the coaches. A large majority of the universities who are members of a BCS auto bid conference are Tier 1 or 2. Also, out of the 63 universities who are members of the Association of American Universities, and play in one of the conferences listed above, only 2 universities are not members of a BCS auto bid conference. Tulane and Rice. I hope and pray our next president is willing to fight for Tier 1 status and not just be a “yes man” to you know who!
  4. A friend who is a big financial supporter of UT was saying North Texas would fit quite nicely into the Big 12. Our commitment to improving the athletic facilities and the DFW market we would bring to the table helps, but our medical school, the future law school, and physical therapy school starting this year shows we can bring good academics to the table also. If we were Tier 1, we would look even more attractive to another conference.
  5. I thought the Hog fans were very hospitable. My wife and I were sitting in the endzone close to the Hog Band and the student section. We had a great time watching the band and the students. They were very animated. The atmosphere was great. When we left the game, a Hog fan wished us a safe trip home and another thanked us for coming to the game.
  6. Our group has 18 seats in section D Rows 22, 23, 24. On the 40 yard line.
  7. I also believe we are allowed an off year. DD said in his post game show he is going to look at the entire program and see what needs to be fixed. I would like to see us find a more experienced offensive coordinator with a few more years of coaching under his belt. I thought I had heard somewhere that Flannigan was the youngest OC in the league. I do trust Rick V is leading this program in the right direction. We may not be moving forward as fast as we would like, but I do believe we are moving forward! I will continue to give money and buy my season tickets to support the program no matter who the coach is. The program cannot move forward without all our support. I may not like some of the coaching philosophies but there are alot of young men who chose to play for NT. I think they deserve our support.
  8. My name is Troy and I graduated from UNT in 92. I am a chiropractor in Dallas but I am thinking of moving north toward Denton. I had season tickets last year and went to the UT and TCU game. For the 2003 season I have lined up 21 people for season tickets and the number is growing. Can you say TAIL GATE PARTY!!!!!
