Yes, USM is a bad team but we completely dominated this game. We’re closer than you give credit for to be being a good team. You may not like it but this team is tough and shows grit, and they get that from their head coach. Be prepared. Littrell will be back next season. I’m not giving up on our kids and our fan base shouldn't either.

Four games to go - How do we finish?
StealthEagle84 replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
We finish the season 5-7. We beat two bad teams in USM and FIU and pull a victory on homecoming against an overrated UTEP. This team hasn’t quit playing hard. We’re just both young and dealing with lots of injuries but there is a lot of fight in this team, which I appreciate. Another unpopular opinion, but it’s my belief Littrell will be back next season due to the points I just made. But next year will be make or break for him. I feel like we finish strong enough and his previous success buys him one more year. -
May be our best chance at a win in the next three weeks.

Excluding bowl games and conference championship games, below is Littrell's record with and without Graham Harrell as OC. I know there is more to the story than this but Harrell is a hell of coach and it's obvious how much he is missed. With Harrell: 23 wins / 13 losses Without Harrell: 9 wins / 15 losses

I’m with you. I think we win today too. Go Mean Green!

I personally think this spread is too high. This team has potential but potential doesn't necessarily translate into success. Outside of about 3 or 4 plays, we were lock step with SMU going into the 4th quarter. Had we scored touchdowns instead of settling for field goals in the first half, it would have been a totally different ball game. But, we didn't make the big plays and/or convert when we had to and SMU did. Plain and simple. If, and that's a big if, we make the big plays when we they count the most, we can outright win this game, much less cover the spread. But we have to negate the big play touchdowns and score touchdowns on offense instead kicking for three.

I will wager any amount that we will finish better than 6th. I think our offense will be vastly more consistent than a year ago and our defense can only get better. We couldn't even get lined up correctly on the defensive the ball last season. This D will be tremendously better coached and prepared. I know I'm sipping the Kool-Aid but this team will be entertaining to watch.

DRC: Summer magazines set low expectations for UNT
StealthEagle84 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't blame the public at large for being down on UNT right now. But I think we may end up surprising some folks this season. We have a lot of young talent that will be given a chance to shine, especially on the offensive side of the ball. If we can find a way to stop opposing teams 3 to 4 times per game (which was basically all PB did at Baylor), we'll have a chance every week. I truly believe our offense will be progressively better than 2020. -
Does anyone know if he’s on campus yet and/or enrolled? Just curious if he’s started working out with the team or not.

Will Darden replace Antonio Brown?
StealthEagle84 replied to meangreen11's topic in Mean Green Football
The one thing that is certain with Antonio Brown is uncertainty. He has been anything but reliable the last few years (off of the field) and adding injury to insult only complicates his chances of being with the Bucs next season. Even if Brown is on the roster next season, anything is possible with him finding a way off it during the year. And Brown may not have much time left after next season, especially with the Bucs. Darden just needs to keep his nose to the ground and keep grinding. Hard work will pay off and he could step into a sizable roll if given the chance on Sundays.- 5 replies

From ESPN. Jaelon is listed as one of the top 10 steals of the draft. Tampa Bay Buccaneers selecting WR Jaelon Darden (North Texas) The pick: 129 (Round 4) Darden's tape is pure electricity. After putting on nearly 20 pounds over the course of his North Texas career to reach 174, Darden broke out as a senior with 74 catches for 1,190 yards and 19 scores. He also added 23 broken tackles after the catch to lead the country. At 5-foot-9, he's going to be a slot receiver in the NFL, but that's not a bad thing when Tom Brady is the quarterback. https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2021/insider/story/_/id/31384252/nfl-draft-2021-steals-10-undervalued-day-3-picks-make-impact-including-two-bears

Conference USA hit rock bottom in 2020
StealthEagle84 replied to Philip Ferguson's topic in Mean Green Football
100% agreed. No one wants to watch a bad team not matter the market. We should have picked up App St. instead of Charlotte. Sadly, the Sun Belt is a better brand of football at the current moment. CUSA can change that though. We have some teams with historical success. But the conference as whole needs to step it up. -

UAB playing @Miami tonight 7pm
StealthEagle84 replied to Tom McKrackin's topic in Mean Green Football
I just now tuned in mid 3rd quarter. The way UAB's o-line moved Miami around, I'm afraid we may not stand a chance stopping their run attack. They have some big bodies up front. We didn't get to see how our defense would hold up against the run vs. HB, but I don't hold a lot of confidence in our 3-3-5 scheme stopping the run. Hope I'm wrong. -
Charlotte 10/26 Predictions...and go!
StealthEagle84 replied to Philip Ferguson's topic in Mean Green Football
I must be missing something but we are only favored by 3.5 points. I would have thought we would be double digit favorites. Sounds like Vegas has finally caught on that our defense isn't going to get any better. But I'd take us -3.5 all day. I just don't think Charlotte is any good, at all. UNT 38 / Charlotte 24 -
Simple and clean. I like.

Is the worst in college football. They can't cover, can't tackle, take terrible angles to the ball. I've lost count on how many long down and distance plays USM has had guys screaming ass open. This is a total $#!+ show.

Sounds like Jerick McKinnon is headed to the the IR which can only help Wilson's chances of making the roster. We will know for sure before too long but I thought Wilson impressed last year when given the chance. https://ninernoise.com/2019/08/30/49ers-jerick-mckinnon-ir-jeff-wilson-roster/

What to Expect from UNT offense in 2019

What to Expect from UNT offense in 2019
StealthEagle84 replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
Here is Eastern Washington's stat card from last season. They were #3 in total offense and # 4 in scoring offense while staying balanced (#10 in rushing and #20 in passing offense). The only (minor) downside is TOP, where they ranked 117th out of 124. But I'm OK with this if teams are constantly chasing you from behind. Furthermore, you're never really out of a game if you can strike quickly. Should be an exciting season. -
Where is this information coming from? I have mixed emotions about this. While I have zero doubt he'll be a great play caller, it does have side effects elsewhere as a head coach. For one, he must have complete and total faith in Reffett to run that side of the ball.
