This is probably a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway. Does every team in the Sun Belt go to the Tournament? Or do you have to have a certain record? Are we playing now for a certain seed or just to go?

Alright - If delta Lodge doesn't end up hosting the Fair this year, I say we all meet up on Fry Street some Saturday in April and get rowdy. With all the folks on this board, I'm sure we could get a pretyy big crowd.

Last year with Fry St Fair moved to Dallas, a bunch of my friends and I went up to Fry St in Denton at about noon, with a case of beer, and drank in the streets with about a hundred other people. We were mostly set up in front of Tavern. Thye didnt' block off the streets, so every now and then a cop would drive thru and tell us to all get on the sidewalk. It was a lot of fun. People brought lawn chairs and set up camp. I don't care where the actual Fry St Fair is this year, I'm going back to the actual street on the same day.

In GreenBrigadeDebbie's defense, she did say "It is completely unacceptable to not have someone dressed as Scrappy at the game". Everyone unserstands that every once in a while you're not going to be able to make it to the game, but for basketball that seems more like the rule rather than the exception.

This was my first basketball game to attend since I graduated in 2000. I brought my wife and kid and we met BigRobDSP and his fiancee'. All in all it was a good time, but here's my one BIG complaint. WE got there right before tip off, and we went up to the ticket lady and asked for 4 lower level seats......she said we couldn't buy 4 lower level seats, because the Athletic Dept hadn't printed enough tickets, so she only had 3 lower level tickets left. At first I thought she meant the lower level was sold out, but she said No, they just didn't print enough. So Big Rob asked if we could pay for lower level seats and have her just give us upper level tickets, and she said no to that as well.
So we ended up paying $5 for the upper level and then moving over to the section right behind the visitor's bench. We explained our situation to the Event Staff and they let us move lower, but I just kept thinking that the Dept missed out on an extra $20 because they didn't print enough tickets.
Now - I'll climb down off my soap box.
Loved the game - we're going to try and make the rest of the home games.

Maybe the problem is, that the crowd is excited about doing chants, and getting into the heads of the other team. Maybe we need to do something like A&M and have Yell Leaders? Guys or Girls that can get the crowd pumped up to yell? that understand that the crowd isn't supposed to make noise when the offense has the football and is trying to call plays. Maybe the wings could do that, but didn't they get kicked out? don't think I've seen them at a basketball game, but I could be wrong.
Then the cheerleaders could do the tumbling and cheering, and competitions.
Plus.....If the crowd wants to yell "Boing, Boing, Pass!" I think I'd call it a cheer and try to start it once in a while.

Nice to have a problem of the crowd wanting to be more invloved for a change.

Really sorry I missed the game.......I listened to most of it though and the crowd sounded great!

Is there any kind of promoting going on around campus? I'd hope there would be signs for this, also somebody might drop by and mention it to the Greek Advisor, so an announcement could be made at the IFC meeting this afternoon......maybe they already will, but they should stress the fact that tailgating is legal now for Basketball. This would be a great way to start off a Thursday night.

I was stopped in the office yesterday by a woman who knew that I went to NT. Her son is some kind of track superstar in Coppell I think (cross-country). Anyway - she said her son was being recruited by North Texas and a couple of other schools. He appaprently wasn't thinking too seriously about coming here, but went ahead and scheduled a visit. He was VERY impressed with the campus, but mostly by the new Eagle Point Construction. He's now giving us a very serious look.

Here's the link - hope it works. Do you think this makes it too easy for people to skip the games? That was my first reaction, but I also think it has to be good for people to see us on TV......even if it's NTTV. Wish they had done that when I was in school and living in Denton.

Aren't these usually on 88.1 or 100.7? Seems like on a night when both men and Women play, each station gets one or the other, but they'd both be on.

How was the Tailgate Party? I really hope this takes off for Basketball like it has for football. Would certainly help to get the fans more "into" the game.

A good way to get the students to attend, would be to let it be known to everyone that there is now Tailgating for Basketball. The Tailgating has seemed to help get students to go to Football games. Especially for a Thursday night game.
I'd guess most students
A) Don't know there's a game
and
Don't know that you can go Tailgate the Basketball games.
Some Bar should sponsor some heat lamps and offer food before the game, and then anybody who came to that could get a pass to waive cover at the Bar after the game.

Do you know which James Avery your Mom went to? I was in the one at North Park Mall on Christmas Eve to get something for my wife. I thought about looking for UNT, but I've looked so may times only to find that they didn't have any, that I decided not to spend the time. Maybe I should have looked.

At least he was supporting the team. he probably spent the evening practicing cheers for Homecoming, and then fell asleep from exhaustion.

I was a Delta Sig at UNT, and the current Fraternity row is sort of set up the same. The University actually owns the property and the Fraternities lease it from them on a long term basis. I'm not sure what the going rate is for new leases, but when the Phi Kap, Sigma Nu, and Delta Sig house's were built we actually got the lease for like $1 a year from the University. They were trying to encourage Fraternities to build. Should be great when the Sororities get houses.......That whole area will be a real Greek community.

I know the last post on this subject was a couple of weeks ago, but I don't remember seeing anything about the Regional NCAA tournament.
When is it scheduled? or has it passed already? and if that's the case, how did we do?
