  1. Maybe it wasn't DIRECTLY football related? That's all I can come up with.
  2. I got to go to the Big 12 Tournament at the AAC, and the Kansas students had a section of kids wearing what lookind like blue and white striped Rugby shirts with KU on the front. It looked pretty cool, and I thought that I ought to find a shirt like that with green and white for game day.........still looking. GMG!!
  3. I actually meant to put my last post in the thread started by HighFlyer......anyone know how to change that? Or do I just leave it and look like the JackA$$ that can't read?
  4. HighFlyer - In response to your original post. Our offense was really supposed to be the better of the 2 this year. Cobbs had a thumb injury for the first 2 games, and then injured his knee against FAU. He was supposed to be the workhorse, and that hasn't worked out. The jury is still out on whether our defense is reloading or rebuilding, though if it's a reload, it must be with a musket rifle, cause it's taking forever. We lost a great lineman in Brandon "Booger" Kennedy, as well as all three of our starting Linebackers. We had some linemen with experience to step in, but our new linebackers had one or two starts between them coming into the season. So to say our game against UT was a baptism by fire is a bit of an understatement. They were better last week, and hopefully will conitnue to improve this week. Back to offense - We've got receivers who can make plays, but to this point it's been inconsistant. Moore is a solid back up, as is Freshman Jamario Thomas, but it's hard to replace Cobbs. GMG!!!!
  5. By the way - Some folks on the CU board found this thread, and now just think the world of our fans. They called us "ungracious jerks" F'em if they can't take a joke. GMG!!!!
  6. How about the Denton Grackles (aren't those the annoying birds that roost in the University's oak trees and crap all over the place?)
  7. Absolutely! I'd love for NT to get this guy. He aleady has an axe to grind with the larger schools who haven't given him a shot. He'd be looking to prove something as soon as he started. Too bad the program is at least a year or two away.
  8. How did we get that guy? So he has to sit out a year......does that leave him with 2 years of eligibility left? or just one?
  9. Texas basketball player of the year signs with UNT 02:03 AM CDT on Tuesday, May 25, 2004 By C. ANTHONY MOSSER / Special to The Dallas Morning News Collin County Community College's Isaac Hines was selected Texas Junior College Men's Basketball Player of the Year by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. He has signed with North Texas. Hines, a sophomore point guard from Molina High School, averaged 11.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 3.4 steals in leading CCCC to its second consecutive North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference title.
  10. "Why were images of a plane flying into the world trade center shown over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over while images of American attrocities against Iraqi detainees were originally suppressed? " Actually the major stations took the images of the airplanes hitting the buildings off the about a week after it happened and you still don't see them that often. They didn't want to keep bringing back the anger that sadness over and over.......it was to help us get over it. And the 2nd point about the American atrocities against detainees is a little off. The images weren't being suppressed because there was some kind of cover up going on. They weren't shown because they didn't want to further enflame the situation over there and make it worse........which it did. The military was handling it and is still handling it, and I don't know that the release of the photos has done anything good for anyone. Maybe it's because I'm a history major, but every major conflict in our history has had atrocities in it. In WWII US soldiers executed Japanese POW's. This didn't come out until after the war and that seemed to work. The people that cut off the head of Berg said it was a direct result of what was going on in the prison. If the photos hadn't come out he might still be alive (maybe not, but we'll never know). The argument that Iraq had nothing to do with September 11th is also frustrating. There is no doubt in anyone's mind that Saddam had ties with terrorists. Heck he was even paying the families of Palestinian suicide bombers and was hosting terror training camps in northern Iraq. You're fooling yourself if you think he didn't know they were there. No one is claiming that he was responsible for September 11th except people opposed to the war. he did have ties to terror groups (maybe not al qaeda), he did have a WMD program (he killed his own people with them), EVERYONE's intelligence agencies thought he had them still. If he gave them up why was it so difficult for him to prove that? Libya did it and it took about 2 weeks. Iraq had over 11 years and was still being very secretive about everything. Sorry to rant on the football board. GMG!!!!!
  11. and what's with the "Too many men on the ice" penalties. I think the refs are trying to set a record for calling it in every game. Isn't that something that shouldn't be happening at all, but for darn sure not in the playoffs? Luckily they've been calling it on both sides. GMG!!! Go Stars!!!!!
  12. I think the girls are playing Prairie View A&M, and I thought there was a way to get score updates online, but I can't find it. Didn't somebody find a way to do that? Am I smoking crack again? GMG!!
  13. WTF - Did anyone pick Manhattan over Florida? I've never even heard of Manhattan! And even if I had heard of them, they wouldn't have a basketball team.
  14. I've only got one. Of course - I know nothing of college basketball.
  15. I think they said sentencing wasn't until June 17th. Maximum of 5 years for each charge. No minimum......... Analyst seemed to think it could be probabtion or up to a year.
  16. This is probably a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway. Does every team in the Sun Belt go to the Tournament? Or do you have to have a certain record? Are we playing now for a certain seed or just to go? GMG!!!
  17. Big game tonight for the Mean Green........Did anyone end up making the trip to cheer them on? Can't wait to listen to it. Go Mean Green!!!!!
  18. today we play aTm, does anyone know if it'll be on the radio? GMG!!!!!
  19. In GreenBrigadeDebbie's defense, she did say "It is completely unacceptable to not have someone dressed as Scrappy at the game". Everyone unserstands that every once in a while you're not going to be able to make it to the game, but for basketball that seems more like the rule rather than the exception. GMG!!!!!
  20. This was my first basketball game to attend since I graduated in 2000. I brought my wife and kid and we met BigRobDSP and his fiancee'. All in all it was a good time, but here's my one BIG complaint. WE got there right before tip off, and we went up to the ticket lady and asked for 4 lower level seats......she said we couldn't buy 4 lower level seats, because the Athletic Dept hadn't printed enough tickets, so she only had 3 lower level tickets left. At first I thought she meant the lower level was sold out, but she said No, they just didn't print enough. So Big Rob asked if we could pay for lower level seats and have her just give us upper level tickets, and she said no to that as well. So we ended up paying $5 for the upper level and then moving over to the section right behind the visitor's bench. We explained our situation to the Event Staff and they let us move lower, but I just kept thinking that the Dept missed out on an extra $20 because they didn't print enough tickets. Now - I'll climb down off my soap box. Loved the game - we're going to try and make the rest of the home games. GMG!!!!!
  21. Maybe the problem is, that the crowd is excited about doing chants, and getting into the heads of the other team. Maybe we need to do something like A&M and have Yell Leaders? Guys or Girls that can get the crowd pumped up to yell? that understand that the crowd isn't supposed to make noise when the offense has the football and is trying to call plays. Maybe the wings could do that, but didn't they get kicked out? don't think I've seen them at a basketball game, but I could be wrong. Then the cheerleaders could do the tumbling and cheering, and competitions. Plus.....If the crowd wants to yell "Boing, Boing, Pass!" I think I'd call it a cheer and try to start it once in a while. GMG!!!!!! Nice to have a problem of the crowd wanting to be more invloved for a change.
