  1. and the rest? http://usc.rivals.com/forum.asp I forgot, we can't be other colleges' college football fans on this board without being flamed, particularly UT fans.
  2. People everywhere love to hate TEXAS, and it makes me happy. It will be so much better then, when they win the NC.
  3. Lets wait to see really how good UTEP can continue to be before we want to be like them. I'm not saying they won't be good, nor that they haven't been recently. The last thing I want is for us to copy another west texas school. Dickey deserves more time.
  4. We're with unfamiliar/familiar company, NMSU, Idaho, and Utah State get mentions as well.
  5. Wow, didn't realize that would confuse. I guess a losing season bring over analyzation to a new level. I was just referencing other schools, (BYU), (RICKS), as other schools in the middle of nowhere with religious private funding, thus providing a religious reason for going into the sticks. ND could be included if SouthBend is as boring and in the middle of nowhere as I am told it is. (never been through there). I can't see a reason to drive to the middle of the desert, outside of Las Vegas, to go to school (outside of a private school religious reason) when you can get a better education in a better location. (Texas Tech included) Again, my opinion. And a reason why I went to UNT. I have tons of friends that went to Tech and they said outside of drinking everynight and getting in trouble there really isn't much to do around Lubbock. Try to get a Florida kid to go to Lubbock, I bet it's tough. Are there lots of homers here who kept up with A&M more, and seeing them as looking more foolish?
  6. Eagle-96, don't think I don't feel bad for the people who lost their lives, but they were asking for trouble when they stand logs on end that high. And I can find something to do every night of the week in the metroplex, just not nearly as fun as said activities. It just doesn't have the same lifestyle or nightlife as other areas. Great place to work though.
  7. I think you have confused yourself. I didn't get them confused. I know the difference. As for highschool black and white movies about greeks... Why are they showing Animal House in black and white and why is it always on a night when I have to work?
  8. Times change, students change. I think students now, are looking for the whole package now that they can get it, and I don't think Lincoln, Nebraska is a very glamorous location. And last time I checked, it didn't move, which means its still in the corn fields. It might be nice, but not glamorous. Why would any student that isn't mormon want to go to a university with nothing around it? That is my opinion. They have fallen farther than anyone and, IMO farther than A&M, therefore they look more foolish. Fanaticism doesn't really play a role in my post. I think we can all agree that A&M people are nutz too. In fact, all college football fans are. And not just college ones, even. You are right about kids wanting to get to the NFL, and NFL coaches listening more to their scouts than media. But why not have both? And you're also right that TAMU's Reggie McNeil gets a lot of press. The foolishness comes from being an engineering school that can't build a fire. IMO, I will be surprised if Nebraska makes it back anytime soon to where they once were. There are now better coaching staffs in better locations with better facilities. P.S. What goes on in Dallas that I should know about that makes it more exciting? I can't surf here, or swim year round, or go catch a good live band every night.
  9. We have offered scholarships to kids already. Many of them put it on a back burner hoping to get offers from bcs schools, is my guess. I appreciate the way Dickey and the rest of the coaching staff don't feed these kids and parents piles of crap that they can't deliver on. As our facilities come up to par from being in D1-AA and getting us level and rolling with the rest, I firmly beleive it will get better. It is one down year, I don't think our system is broke, and I guarantee you Andrew Smith wasn't a bad recruit. There is no telling what this year would have brought if he was still in the mix. My guess is we would have some mad options and play actions. And most of all he would be here to guide the younger players (who are playing right now). We all need to remember, The coaching staff didn't plan on starting a freshmen qb when they recruited 3 - 4 years ago. I really cant stress enough what a big loss we are still going through at NT with that tragedy. In an ideal situation, they would bring them up systematically and guide them. You want to have your best players on the field and hopefully most of the players on the field would be jr and seniors.
  10. Nebraska in my opinion, They are less than a decade removed from being top 5 in the country. A&M was never there. A&M has to deal with the big 12 south, which is tougher than the north. A&M did get killed by iowa state, but at the same time, I think A&M has been in this position for a little while, while Nebraska is totally lost as to what to do, and what happened to their team. I can offer ONE reason for nebraska not being one of the best teams in the nation. LOCATION. The best college atheletes do not want to go play football up north in the cornfields where they are constantly skipped over by east and west coast media. They'd go play in a place with character excitement and a nice climate like California, Austin, Florida or east coast, where they get noticed by lots of people at Notre Dame, Pitt, or Virginia. That being said, Iowa isn't any of those places, neither is College station (its in the sticks). Dallas isn't much better, it gets exciting from time to time, but outside of major sporting events there isn't much that goes on.
  11. Wasn't just our rushing defense, our pass D was top 20 and scoring def. was top 10 as well. We were tops in the nation in just about every defensive category.
  12. Every loss since the Tulsa game has been easier and easier to take, until the La Tech game. Since then I accepted the fact we will not be good this year, and just want to see improvement. If that means getting rid of RF, then that's what that means.
  13. I watched the whole game on TV. The implementation of quick passes is what we used to soften the D for the running game. It worked pretty well. Lots of slants. It didn't look so much like Meager reading coverage as much as it was throwing to spots that the receivers were supposed to be at. There were a couple of passes that lead me to believe that was the case. Patrick Cobbs in the 1st quarter looked strong. He broke a tackle up the middle for about 7 yards and then met 3 lsu defenders and had them upright and almost spun off until a 4th defender came in and stopped his foward progress. Jamario looked pretty good as well. I was happy to see us not go for the big play so much. I think I saw 1 or 2 bombs thrown by Meager that were a little out of reach, but one of our receivers was behind the secondary enough to try for something like that. Edit: Sorry for such a short explaination, hopefully later i will have more time to elaborate.
  14. So, you didn't watch the game either, huh?
  15. In that business it's good to have your name circulated, not for the purpose of actually taking the job, but to see what the market climate is like and keep your name out there. Every time this comes up people fail to see it as a part of networking and seeing his own worth. Maybe even to turn the screws when asking for a raise. A raise I think UNT should be prepared to offer if that is the case. UNT has many more positives to work for than ULL does, including location. I don't think we should be worried about RV leaving anytime soon.
  16. I remember reading where congressman burgess has also helped to secure funding for UNT from the recent national defense bill that went through.
  17. Wow, I don't know if you were trying to be sarcastic or belittling there Emmitt, but it sure seems like it. Oh yea, and I get the concept of a relative comparison, I just don't think it applies to this situation. We have nothing in common with OU other than we are major universities, and our QB's are both young. I, too, am amazed at how many references are being drawn between us and OU.
  18. I think the defense lies in their own grave. They let the other team march down the field and use the back of the endzone as a 12th man. Which is why they've forced so many turnovers down there. I just don't see the swarming, hard hitting, make them pay defense i've seen in years past. If they want off the field, hold them to 3 and out. My question is this: Is our offense this year, compared to years past, getting more or less offensive drives per game? What is the total number of drives our offense has this year, compared to last year?
  19. Yea, It must be our teams fault, cuz these rankings systems always get it right.
  20. I guess, I'll bite, what does he do and why should we be concerned? Am I being ignorant?
  21. I was thinking the same thing, didn't we meet them in the I-AA playoffs regularly? It's like he would be okay holding our heads under water while he's up to his eyeballs.
  22. George and Hank both said that after a screen play to Patrick on 3rd and inches that Patrick went back to the sideline and yelled at the coaches and threw his helmet down in frustration. Anyone have a clue what was said or what it was about, or if it was just blowing off a little steam?
  23. Man, we really could use a home game this week.
  24. Hooters in Denton for sure. Not sure about the time. I want to say 7 or 8?
