  1. Sorry to hear. Hope she is doing better and your posts have been missed here.
  2. Yes. Also interesting as former UNT assistant David Anwar is coaching there: https://hailstate.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/coaches/david-anwar/2852
  3. I don’t think he is running it anymore.
  4. I think you kay be underestimating how good Rodgers is. Stone may not recover from the knee right away and the other kid is young.

  6. The amendment clears the way for the Texas Legislature to prime the pump for the four university systems with $4 billion in initial funding for the new permanent endowment. Following that initial amount, the Legislature will be able to provide $100 million per year of the interest and investment income from the Economic Stabilization Fund, also known as the rainy day fund. The amendment also will allow state lawmakers to add eligible public universities to the fund, but only if more money is provided. The Texas University Fund was designed to invest in emerging research universities in the state, with lawmakers supporting it because highly regarded Tier One research institutions have stimulated both regional and state economies. The new fund should attract more research faculty, giving the universities a more competitive edge in recruitment. Generally, a stable of renowned faculty can attract more students and graduate students. Kim Garza Turner, a UNT alumna and the system coordinator for the Texas University Fund Political Action Committee, said in an interview before Tuesday’s election that the fund would stimulate regional and state economies. “The fund allows more Texas universities to receive national rankings in research, which directly impacts graduates and jobs,” she said. “The fund would make a lot of difference when it comes to meeting the demands of industry. “As you know, Denton County is, what, the fourth fastest-growing county in the country? Can this help the universities meet the needs of the Texas economy? Yes.” Read more: https://www.keranews.org/politics/2023-11-08/unt-set-to-gain-millions-in-funding-as-texans-give-thumbs-up-to-proposition-5
  7. I would only add that we have moved up in conferences several times now and thus the competition has become much more challenging.
  8. I mean we are sitting in a gold mine of talent here in DFW and Texas. Even Seth landed some good players with a very mediocre recruiting effort. I think we should always be able to have a Fine or Rogers caliber QB in this program. We just have to stop spending all our spots on high school players. Those kids can leave after one year. The transfers have to stay until they graduate.
  9. Wow - that is hugely disappointing. Maybe just one bad game?
  10. I think Allen could end up starting as well. He seems to be the guy everyone missed out on as he is a real talent on both sides of the floor. And he has good size so he can defend a post.
  11. The thing your article so nicely illustrates is how quickly Rogers makes his decisions. That was the problem with Earle, he got nervous and could not decide. I truly hope you will keep writing as I really enjoy your style. Makes you feel like you are in the action.
  12. I think SMU going to ACC makes us more attractive to other schools trying to get into Texas for various reasons like recruuting and whatnot.
  13. Sorry that was a typo. I was speaking to Robertson.
  14. Guy was another big portal loss for this program on defense as he is making plays all over the field for SMUt against TCU today.
  15. Agree but I would like to see bigger at every position.
  16. We need to hope that they get this done. It will help us to have some guardrails.
  17. The UNT La Tech game last night was pretty ho-hum for 3 quarters but ended up having a thrilling ending, with UNT coming out on top by a score of 40-37. The Bulldogs trailed for much of the game, but they mounted a furious and respectable comeback in the fourth quarter, scoring 17 straight points to tie the game at 37-37 with just over a minute to play. However, the Mean Green were able to drive down the field and kick a game-winning field goal as time expired by expert footman Noah Rauschenberg. North Texas quarterback Chandler Rogers had a stellar game, throwing for >300 yards and three touchdowns. Mean Green running back Ayo Adeyi also had a big day, rushing for 150 yards and a touchdown. Louisiana Tech was led by quarterback Jack Turner who passed for 145 yards. I thought the game was a great example of college football at its best. Both teams played hard and there were several lead changes throughout the game. In the end, North Texas was able to make the big plays when it mattered most. The officials had their struggles though and there were a few missed calls. In particular a late hit/roughing the QB call on Chandler Rogers sticks out it my minds eye. That one really bothered me for some reason. I was particularly impressed with the comeback effort by Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs were down by 17 points in the fourth quarter, but they never gave up. They were able to score 17 unanswered points to tie the game, but unfortunately they fell short in the end. Their fans came up to us after the game and stated “what could we have done better?” To which I replied dryly “not a thing you all were good hosts. Can you please point me in the direction of the freeway?” Overall, I thought the UNT La Tech game was a great game to watch. It was exciting from start to finish and there were several big plays made by both teams. If there is ever an opening in the American conference I would like to see La. Tech considered. But not before Army.
