  1. Might trade Quinn for TE Randy Gardner or WR Kevin Howard.
  2. Saw this on their fan site: TallTexan 1:21p, 6/12/24 Since restarting the program in 2006, SFA baseball has posted a 430-579 record, a paltry 42% winning percentage. We notched just 10 wins the past season. While there have been a few bright spots for the restarted program, notably Willie Vest & Hunter Dozier playing on the MLB stage, actual success for the program has been few and far between. The team currently plays at the city's little league park and stadium plans have fallen through, even with a lead donor(Bo Pilgrim/Planned Pilgrim Park https://sfajacks.com/news/2006/11/30/Bo_Pilgrim_Park_at_SFA_to_bring_home_11_8_million_a_year_for_Nacogdoches). According to one parent of an early player, Baker Patillo shared with her that he hadn't even been consulted when the Athletic department decided to re-launch baseball. Which likely led to the tepid support for a major infrastructure project on their behalf. Today's price tag for a baseball/softball facility in the same range would likely top 25 million, a significant increase from the 14 million price from 2006. Marshall is spending 23 million for baseball only. Kennesaw State is paying 12.3 for a renovation of their existing stadium.Georgia State's new stadium will cost 15.85 million. So SFA is easily looking at tens of millions of dollars for a "college level" park. We are also facing headwinds from college baseball at large. The House Settlement that is likely to take 300k from SFA's budget a year is also expected to bring full roster scholarships to college baseball's Power 5 teams. Whereas teams can currently only offer 11.3 scholarships per baseball team, Texas, OU & the like would now be able to offer a full ride to all 30 players on their roster. That will make any fringe/tweener athlete instantly jump to take roster spots on P5 teams. Don't get me wrong. That is great for those athletes, but it means even tougher recruiting for a school like SFA. Sure, SFA could continue to sponsor baseball with our existing facilities, with similar or worse results with the upcoming NCAA changes. Why pay for a program where we are continually fighting with one hand tied behind our back? Where we have no history of success nor the infrastructure to achieve it? We'll need to likely spend 10-15 mil just to compete with the other teams on our level on a regular basis .Given all of SFA's other needs, both athletically and as a university, we have to sit back and ask ourselves if investing millions in this program makes sense. There is an opportunity cost, and baseball certainly does not bring in the eyeballs of our Football/MBB/WBB teams. Men's Soccer, Volleyball, or Tennis could share some facilities with existing women's teams. In my opinion, it's time to axe Baseball, once and for all.
  3. Laces Out Marino 12:04p, 9/2/24 I watched most of the 1st half and some of the 2nd half and S Bama definitely had missed opportunities. At least 3 or 4 times I saw a speedy WR 5-10 yds behind the DBs and the QB under threw the ball. If he hits a couple of those in stride they walk in for a TD and it's a different ball game. Game was closer than the score. I think if we give our QB a little time in the pocket we can stretch the field on them. Our WRs are every bit as good as S Bama. We will need to get pressure on Morris for sure and not give up the quick slants. Made a lot of nice throws in rhythm. If we can make him uncomfortable and disrupt his rhythm I think we have a chance. Link: https://sfasawmill.com/forums/2/topics/2509
  4. DENTON - While making his debut for the Mean Green on Saturday in Mobile, Alabama, junior quarterback Chandler Morris ripped apart the South Alabama pass defense en route to a 52-38 road win to open the season and earn American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors. Morris helped account for UNT's first five touchdowns while completing 32 of 41 passes for 415 yards and three touchdowns. He also added a pair of rushing touchdowns to his ledger. His 32 completions and 415 yards were the most by any player in the conference in Week 1. The effort was the second 400-yard passing game of Morris' career (his first at UNT) and he became the 10th player in program history to pass for 400 yards or more in a game. Joining Morris on the weekly honors list was his top target on Saturday, senior wide receiver Damon Ward Jr., who set career highs with 12 catches for 230 yards. He also found the end zone twice, including a 54-yard catch-and-run touchdown late in the third quarter that gave UNT a cushion after South Alabama had closed the game to a two-point UNT lead. His 230 yards was one yard shy of tying the school record for most receiving yards in a season-opener. -- GMG --
  5. Rogers is clearly a better runner but other than that one attribute I say Morris is much better!
  6. Yes that is why I pull for them when they are playing anyone else!!
  7. They have always had plenty of money they just never want to spend it. SMU and TCU always did.

It limits the number of hits by the coverage team. The little guy for NT was drilling the End Zone. The Defense was Exposed. The Program does have 3 Defensive Players in the NFL so maybe there’s hope, read more: https://247sports.com/college/south-alabama/board/59456/contents/the-good-the-bad-and-the-ugly-235450650/?page=1

This is a challenging nonconference schedule that will prepare us for another good run in the American Athletic Conference.” North Texas will face Midwestern State in a home exhibition game Oct. 30 before beginning the regular season with a pair of home games. The season opener will welcome Alcorn State back to The Super Pit for the second consecutive season on Nov. 4.Later that week, UNT will take on Texas Southern in the first meeting between the programs since 1998. The first road game of the season will be an early test for the Mean Green going to Eugene to square off with Oregon. The Nov. 12 matchup marks the first time playing against the Ducks in program history and will be the first time UNT has played a women’s basketball game in the state of Oregon. The Mean Green will close out the month of November with three games in nine days prior to Thanksgiving Break. UNT will travel to Abilene Christian on Nov. 16 before hosting Northwestern State on Nov. 20 and wrapping up the stretch with a road contest at Houston on Nov. 24. December will commence with a road trip to New Mexico on Dec. 1 followed by home games against Tennessee State and Southern Illinois. The contest with Tennessee State on Dec. 4 will serve as the Denton ISD Kids Game welcoming elementary schools from around the area to The Super Pit. The Mean Green will then hit the road for a matchup with Santa Clara in the first ever meeting against the Broncos who are coming off a 25-win season and trip to the WBIT. The nonconference schedule will conclude with a midseason tournament inside The Super Pit with SMU and Chicago State coming to town. UNT will look to make it three consecutive wins against the Mustangs on Dec. 19 after sweeping the series last season, then take on Chicago State for the first time ever on Dec. 21.
