I grew up in Edinburg back when Abe Lemons was their basketball coach. Their finances are more stable now than back when they "withdrew" from the Belt.
I’m from Edinburg, too. My friends/family that attended there are pretty excited to have a local football team to root for.

An NIT of the CFP? I’d definitely watch that!

Don’t get me wrong I love Hodge’s defense and it has elevated us to a new level of success. I would not trade that.
Can’t help but wonder if this defensive focus doesn’t lead to some of the defections? Most bball players want to play offense more than defense. Just feeling like this is an elephant in the room nobody wants to deal with.
We definitely cater to a certain type of player: prioritizes team over self, willingness to play defense, prioritizes winning over personal stats.

Is this what he’s talking about, or something else?

I thought his mom’s post on Twitter was kinda strange. They were looking for a place to show “all” his talents. She made a point to put the all in quotes. Makes me wonder what they meant by that because he was poised to be the go-to guy and leader next year. Guess we’ll never know.
Yeah, thought that was pretty cryptic. Not sure what happened behind the scenes. I thought he would be a cornerstone piece for next year. Oh well, time to move on

This is a lot of typing to try and spin the bolded part. 😬😬
He was a highly rated prospect that spent the last year in a quality program. There’s no need for spin. This a good pick up for Ross. Excited to see him develop.

He’ll average 25 a game next year, then transfer again for an even bigger payday. Wish him well.

Just seems like he wanted to stay close to home. I doubt theres a need to overthink it.

Is our NIL doing that poorly, or is this just the way it is? This offseason is wild, man. How do you build anything?

Speaking of confident players, did they hold Landon Sides out because they didn't want to risk injury, or was he injured?
I think he has a knee injury that is keeping him out of spring ball. He should be good to go by fall.

I’m good with fall competition. Whoever gives us the best chance to win is who I’d prefer to start.

I haven’t seen a list of participants. I recognize a few. Little help?

Vito’s DRC article about the scrimmage quoted Morris looking at the Portal when it opens for DL help. Depends on how many ships we have left. When does it open?
The 2024 college football transfer portal will open for the spring transfer window on April 16 and run through April 30.

My group said the exact same thing yesterday. How can they expect to compete with this? Frustrated!
I’ve seen a couple of DL offers sent out the last few days. The coaches seem to think it’s an area of need. Would have liked to get in some guys for spring ball. We’ll see if we can land some contributors…

Whatever fatty is eyerolling, that was a serious question.
I didn’t eyeroll, but the number of staff members does seem high. I think it has the entire football staff, though. Recruiting, GA’s, etc.

SH making the finals takes a little sting off losing to them.

The defense was ranked 130 in total defense last year. We can all agree the secondary is moving in the right direction. However, the front 6 is worrisome.
We added a DE from Oregon, a LB from Iowa State, and a few HS prospects. Other than that, the front 6 looks the same as last year. We need to hope a few guys from the portal are added this spring. Otherwise we will be 5-7 or 6-6 this year.
I haven’t seen too many DL TP targets. Here’s one.

Pretty much every team is losing players. We’re going to look very different next season. Sissoko and Stone are the only holdovers from GMac days. It’s definitely going to be Ross’s team moving forward. I’m excited to see what next season brings. GMG!

Wish him well. He was a beast for us. He’ll be great wherever he goes. Loved watching him play for us. GMG!

Wish him the best. Loved watching him play here, but I had a feeling he’d transfer. It’s what college sports has become. I’ll still root for him. GMG!
