  1. I don't understand why UNT keeps getting smashed by the portal. Data shows most G5s coming out ahead. We aren't talking big money for something like a high G5 low P4 receiver. I know you could fund some of these guys.
  2. I really don't understand this characterization. At the end of the day we took a reduced share of the payout just like the PAC teams going to the B10 did and like most other G5 move ups did. We just were able to agree to a bigger reduction than others.

  4. Have to pony up and keep our DC. Defense has been so critical this year, and we're going to have to really rely on it vs Tulane with Stone out.
  5. Our average has increased every year for at least 5+ years. Unlike UNT, we don't have many hundreds of thousands of apathetic alumni sitting around DFW just not choosing to go, we have to build the fan base. 2023 attendance averages: UNT: 17,761 SMU: 22,616 But consider the relative alumni populations. UNT has 324,000 alumni living in DFW. SMU has 60,000. So take attendance by % of alumni living in DFW: UNT: 5% SMU: 38% This doesn't even include students which would skew it even more. Who has bad attendance?
  6. We were unofficially in the PAC with SDSU for a good year before it became public and even before that it was clear to Aresco we were aggressively tying to move up and might be successful. PAC blew up. Bad luck. Snuck in to ACC. Good luck. Either way not a surprise to the AAC. Also, again, attendance smack from UNT is insane. You have enough students to sell out our (and your) entire stadium, meanwhile we only have 6000 undergrads. And yet we've had significantly higher attendance than you this season.
  7. Y'all are so crazy. Our success is your success. It was clear we were going to leave AAC, so you were added to replace. You're welcome. Our success in establishing ourselves as a solid P3 team will put our recruiting clearly on that level, and that will allow players on the upper G5 level we might have recruited to filter down to your level, raising you up. You're welcome!

  9. If we beat Navy it will be SMU vs Tulane. If we lose, we believe it will still be SMU vs Tulane but the rules are very.... convoluted. Hopefully we don't need to find out.
  10. Memphis was a good budding rival. It's too bad Memphis is a impoverished wasteland dump. Memphis can't move up with zero market no matter what they do.

  12. I'm honestly shocked how negative it is here. I thought your team looked VASTLY improved from previous years. You look like you are just deficient in talent in key places, which is to be expected after an overdue coach gets fired and the new one doesn't have to to bring in anyone. Get some transfer and a decent class and you're going to be much improved. You should be more optimistic today than at any point in the last 3 or 4 years, at least.
  13. Y'all clearly have some real talent in the coaching staff on offense. If you can hit the portal and upgrade the talent on D into something serviceable you'll run the conference next year

  17. You definitely are the best conference offense we have faced and will move the ball. Problem is you have zero defense, whereas we have nonzero defense.
  18. I strongly advise you to park at the DART station, safely in Dallas, and walk over. Driving something like that through the park cities is guaranteed to be an issue with the police, with or without the paint scheme.
  19. Only the looniest people still use Ponyfans. The serious people are on On3 or maybe still on 247. No way there is 25k there for a Friday night game with possible rain and against UNT.
  20. You aren't wrong, really. We've played nobody. We have some really good parts....and some lacking parts. When the matchup is not favorable we struggle.

  23. Weird game indeed on every front. Weird reffing, weirdly dirty Rice team, weird play calling and subs by SMU, weird Rice was effective but their prime WR was shutdown. Then their backup QB comes in with no drop in production.
