Its still Memphis. There are infinitely more talented prospects within 100 mile radius of UNT than in the entire state of TN. Memphis is a straw man argument.
They're stuck in their box of woe, which I understand. But they're still wrong and not looking at data.
UNT should be cleaning up on players moving down for playing time, just like Dykes did at SMU, just like top G5's do. It's right there.

You know, SMU and it's alumni can be associated with two negative things:
1. Football cheating
2. Enron
#1 is like bribes in Mexico or pretending you didn't find that unmarked graveyard on your construction project - technically not allowed but widespread and expected.
#2 is just plain ol' greed. No big deal, nobody got hurt.
Yet somehow we're worse than Baylor hiding rape and literal murder, or Penn St. facilitating decades of child rape, or Kent State viciously attacking those national guard troops. It's outrageous.

If I'm SMU I don't know if that is something to be proud of or not. While I appreciate financial success you need to be known for something else.
We have great coke too

So SMU gets compared to Notre Dame?🤮
We're clearly just like Notre Dame.
ND is dedicated to the God of Roman Catholicism.
BYU is dedicated to the God of Mormonism.
Baylor is dedicated to the God of Evangelical Protestantism.
SMU is dedicated to the God of Money and Finance.

Most men aren't getting anything either. Just like every other profession.

Same speech two years ago with that new coach… didn’t happen then either.
Not from me. Nothing in Lanier's background suggested he was going to do any different at SMU. I did think NIL would help him.....but he wouldn't utilize it. Strange.
Enfield isn't taking us to the final four. But he has a long history of high level recruiting and rebuilding, which is what we need to do quickly. We can get to where USC is, then reevaluate. Probably the best we could hope for

This is very positive for UNT. Our recruiting will be at such an incomprehensibly high level it will free up a lot of mid level local talent for you

Can we move this post to another forum. This has no reason to be here.
There's two other threads about SMU on here. Is a thread on firing is good why not hiring?

Looks like coach Andy Enfield is moving up from USC to take the head coaching job at SMU.
This is Enfield's third stop as a HC, first at FGCU in the Atlantic Sun (FCS level) and then USC in the failed PAC conference (G6).
Thus SMU is his first stop at a P3 level conference, and it'll take all his skill and NIL to compete in the ACC, which currently has four teams in the sweet 16.
Enfield has BIG SHOES TO FILL following Lanier's vaunted 20 win season and almost winning a game in the AAC tourney.
I'm excited, but it's always scary to gamble on an up-and-comer.

Good for him. He seemed like a good coach. Curious to see how he navigates his team w/out the big NIL support that SMU had.
Incorrect. And he barely used our NIL support. Very Dabo.

SMU is embarrassed because they are leaving the AAC for a “better” conference, and couldn’t even win what they considered the inferior conference.
Yes. That is embarrassing. This the need to make a change

Prissy?
20 games won against nobody. This isn't equivalent to even 10 wins in the AAC of 5 years ago.
Lanier isn't on track to get us back to Larry Brown success much less ACC level.

Lol. I thought with your NIL mega=million$ you could buy players/wins in every sport?
You have to have a coach willing and able to utilize the portal and NIL in order to actually use it. This seems to not be the case.

Hey Denton Stang, we’re you at the game ?
No. I can't emotionally invest in SMU basketball that much when I have zero confidence in Lanier. Once we're out of the same conference maybe I become a UNT bball fan. Better chance of going to the tournament.

Oh, they'll all transfer to Dallas, NIL.
Oh, they'll all transfer to Dallas, NIL.
Oh they're walking out of DATCU,
Jumping in the portal, "See You!"

The Athletic on DFW Football recruiting
in Mean Green Football
Posted · Edited by DentonStang
You have a billion alumni. You don't need mega donors like we do to play the game at the AAC level.
$1,000,000 would make a massive impact. That $100 from 10,000 alumni. That's doable. You can't even take a family of four out to a decent restaurant for that much.
Or $50/month from just 1600 people.
Find players looking to move up or down and sell them on coming back local to DFW so momma can watch him play. Give him some basic NIL. That's all you need.
