    Texas State in Frisco

    Any bowl situation but this...

North Texas fans will stay home. Texas State will travel and have a home field advantage in our backyard. And we will lose. Morris has not beaten a team with a winning record this season. I pray the AAC has enough sense than to hurt our conference by arranging this match-up.

When we were 5-1 that’s what the higher ups were planning on as they decided to cut back on expenses including taking the band to the UTSA game and start pushing for a local bowl. Nothing wrong with playing in a local bowl where we can send the band and students. It’s preferred by most at the university.

The local bowl approach is small time, but after finishing the season 1-5, we don't really deserve anything better. I really hate the Frisco Bowl.

Not trying to rain on the parade.....but if you read this....not sure we'd be guaranteed a bowl. Depends I guess on how many of these others win.

The AAC has 8 bowl eligible teams. Not sure they have enough ties for everyone. If there are more eligible teams than spots, not sure how much horse trading will happen.

  4. I appreciate that he obviously keeps track of the dialogue from this board. And I appreciate that he named the very concerns posted by many of us and owned those issues. But, I'm troubled that he could not state a plan to address our problems, other than to say, "we have to do better". That is what Littrell used to say.

Anyway... Happy Thanksgiving. Let just be thankful for what we have and enjoy our basketball team playing in primetime tonight.

If he can finish the season with 2 wins: I think it is a successful year and gives momentum for the future.

Beat Temple then lose a bowl game: that is pretty Old Denton. And just like, how things go around here.

Lose to Temple: I’m very discouraged, but still gonna cheer for him because we don’t have the money to fire him. And life is too short to hate the things you love when you can’t do anything to change it.

I pull for the program. I wanted Morris to be the answer, but he has proven to be just the next bad coaching hire in our decades long struggle to find a real coach.

I have come to the realization that North Texas will remain a basic program until someone in our leadership gets off their ass and actually hustles to find a real coach. Other G programs do this every few years, as they lose real coaches to higher paying power programs.

I can not express enough how put out I am with our football program at this moment. Sure, we can beat Temple this weekend, but what does that prove? .... Nothing. Temple is a bum, just like most of the other teams we're beaten this season. And in my honest opinion, that wouldn't represent a movement in the right direction. Firing Morris would, but only if we actually went out and lured an actual winning coach from the Belt, C-USA or MAC. That's what serious programs do.

I’m not sure I completely follow the math on the Herman contract.   Wouldn’t 20 weeks always be lower?

Here is an abridged version of the Morris contract.    If I’m correct, my math says we can cut him loose right now for 1,980,000

    —————-

Morris will earn a base salary of $900,000 per year, plus guaranteed incentives, including a $300,000 annual radio/television stipend.

The school would be required to pay 100% of Morris’ base salary for the first 36 months of the agreement, plus 60% of his base salary for the last 24 months if he is fired without cause.

Losing too many games seems like cause to me.

Seriously?  The AD doesn't care about verbal fan demands...unless you have a check with lots of $$$ on it to give??

Every fan of every team that is below .500 is also demanding their coach and AD be fired.  It's a yearly tradition.  One we have participated in far too often.

Anyway....the point is (most) everyone on this board is a fan, and nobody is happy about losing.  The first reaction in  losing is fire the coach.   You already know it won't happen until money is not an issue.   Why didn't we fire the DC on a 2-year contract after his first season?   $$

I'm sure RV didn't care about the verbal demands of fans either, until they flew a banner calling for his job.

And comparing our situation to every other sub .500 team is disingenuous. Just in the AAC... FAU, Charlotte & Tulsa have already fired their 2nd year coaches. If they can afford to fire their coaches, but we can't then Mosley isn't qualified to be our AD. Under Mosley and Morris this football program is still a sh!t show. Name the other FBS teams that started their season 5-1 and have now lost 5 straight games? I'll wait.

He gave her 3 years. Wonder if that will apply to football

It shouldn't. Football and basketball are the premium sports. Bigger paychecks should demand bigger results. Morris has shown me no growth and nothing that merits him deserving a third year to F things up again.

They pulled the plug on the coach. Now do the football coach

Not sure why you got a down vote for posting this. Seems like a reasonable request of our AD.

Our volleyball coach actually had a winning record in conference play (27-24). That is much more than I can say for Morris, since he is 5-10 in conference play.

Hopefully, Mosley will pull the plug on the Morris era tomorrow.

This fanbase is such a joke. After the mass player exodus,  basically everyone on this site predicted 5-7 wins and despite being on track to finish on that mark, many fans are screaming to fire everyone. And to seriously be rooting for this team to lose against Temple and miss a bowl is 100% loser garbage. GTFO with that crap.

We’re all disappointed with the lack of progress this year but to want to pull the plug and go through another mass exodus with another new coaching staff with zero time to recruit is all but guaranteeing another frustrating season. You have to give Morris another year to get a new defensive staff in place to fix the defense.

The schedule is favorable next year and our best chance at success is with Morris. If he can’t win in year 3 with a favorable schedule, then sure, call for his firing. But to do it now would be dumb AF.

I'm not rooting for Temple next Saturday. I'll never cheer for UNT to lose. But, even if UNT beats Temple by 100 points, Morris still needs to be fired. This season started 5-1. There is no excuse for dropping 5 straight games. Just like there is no excuse for blowing 21 point lead to an interim head coach... at home no less.

The portal changes everything. That's why other AAC programs are able to fire their coaches in their 2nd seasons at their schools.

Morris has already had two season to fix the defense. He hasn't been able to fix it. I can't think of any reason why he might magically figure it out this off season.

These are Morris' FBS wins this season...

    USA 6-5 (bowl team)

    Wyoming 2-9

Tulsa 3-8 (Fired their 2nd year coach)

FAU 2-9 (Fired their 2nd year coach)

Morris has built a team that for the most part, only beats bums. We saw this movie before with Littrell. I'm done with this crap. It's time to rebuild.

At this point in the football cycle, if you fire a coach then you throw away all the recruiting work being done for the following seasons.  The portal opens up in just a few days, and most AAC schools build their next years roster in the transfer portal.  How hard is it going to be for these programs to build rosters for next season if they dont have a head coach going into the transfer window?

Based on the on our record, it looks like Morris' current recruiting hasn't got the job done. I think the idea is that a new coach and staff would be more successful at luring better players in the portal and on signing day.

They hired Moseley. And I understand that to a degree....we were in a bind when Wren left us mid-season.

But they never provide any oversight. When Jared offered EM a 5 year deal.....where were they? Nowhere to be found. As I'm sure most don't give a flip about UNT Athletics.

Is it time to contact members of the BOR and express our frustrations?

Change is certainly needed. I remember when a banner was flown during one of their meetings.

Unless any of you have $5-10M to donate right now to Athletics for EM's buyout and New coach salaries then you're just a Mob howling in the wind.

It's not happening; we can't afford it.

We've been on this road before with Seth, Benford, etc...

im joining the angry mob against nigel *lights torch and raises pitchfork* murrrder murrrder – @kriimhild on Tumblr

I whole-heartedly disagree. We are not a mob. We are the fan base, and the only ones that actually give a crap. That's why we are demanding more than the sh!t show that is currently being feed to us. I refuse to marginalize the frustration of our fans. And if our AD can't or won't fund a Morris buyout, then he needs to be replaced too. Our stadium is usually half full on game day, when we have around 400,000 alums within an hour of campus. It is time we get someone that can build a real program in Denton, not make excuses for why we should continue to accept failing in football.

    Yup.

Why does Morris still have to be here next season?

FAU was able to fire Herman in year two. Tulsa fired Wilson in Year two. Charlotte fired Poggi in year two. All three were hired the same year as Morris. Why can't Mosley fire Morris in year two? If three of our peers in the AAC can fire coaches in year 2, why can't North Texas?

He's already out on X apologizing to everyone.

While I hate seeing dropped passes, I refuse to roast this young man.  He's been a pleasant surprise in this otherwise mediocre season.

Sheffield dropped some passes, but this loss isn't on him. He wasn't sending in bad plays for the offense, or playing on the defensive side of the ball, or kicking field goals tonight. When a team has as many issues as we had tonight, the blame falls squarely on the coaches.

This is the first I have seen team give up.   We did not have a chance tonight.  The players gave up, the coaching gave up.  When you have a 4th and 7 and run out to f bounds at 5….you quit.

I have not ever been so disappointed in a team to date.

fire them all and start over.

With the exception of Cobbs, I agree. It is time to clean house.
