I was really intrigued by how much he was talking up Kai Huntsberry. I was fully expecting Martinez and Eady to be starters and key players on the team, but with Huntsberry was just hoping he could be a solid guard off the bench. He is much more of an unknown as a D2 guy compared to Martinez and Eady, who were both double digit scorers at D1 schools, but it sounds like he has a really impressive offensive skill set straight from Mccasland’s mouth.

Coach Mac compared Huntsberry to Javion but said he is a better outside shooter. Sign me up for that! Can't wait to see how this team develops as the year goes on. I think they will definitely have some growing pains early, as the new guys get used to the system, but I think we will be peaking about the time conference play starts. Go Mean Green!

Does McCasland grant (pun) interviews with local Denton media? Would love to learn more about the off-season. What is he looking for? Is everyone coming back? What does he generally see in recruits that most other coaches don’t see? What are the goals for the coming season? Any top kids he’s in on that we may have heard of? Who is his favorite NBA player/coach? Any notable pre-season tournaments? If he were a tree, what kind would he be?

We need more info than we are getting!

Vito is to busy putting together that pre-season football section.

UAB has exhibited some erratic recent play, but they will be fired up and ready for the Green.

I like NT's chances, but they are going to have to play a lot better than the last game.

The game is a must win for UAB if they want any chance at the #1 seed so I expect we will get their best punch. Hopefully we can hang around in the first half and steal one at the end. This will be a tall task. A win and we would have a 3 game lead on both La Tech and UAB with 4 to play. Go Mean Green!

With the looming possibility that Perry is gonna need som rest, Grant has an opportunity to plan on some optional minutes for Wright.  Or we are going to find out how much he (Grant) really wants to stick to his usual guns.

If anyone else joins the rotation this week, I think it will be one of the transfer guards.

Watched the replay of the UAB 83 - LA Tech 76 game from Saturday.  Amorie Archibald (27pts) and Kenneth Lofton Junior (24) went off but their defense is not great.

UAB's Jordan Walker went for 36 points.

I still think UAB is our biggest threat.  They pose more matchup problems.  Louisiana Tech can score a lot against an average defense (They love to push it and run and gun) but I think we can shut them down.  We will find out more about La Tech on Saturday.  Ruston is a tough place to win at but so was Diddle Arena.

1/22/22 UAB at LA Tech Men's Basketball - Stadium (watchstadium.com)

La Tech had won 18 in a row at home before losing to UAB Saturday. I think we were the last team to beat them at home before that.
