Looking at the tournament the teams that made the biggest splash were not like in the past, just ask John Calipari.

The teams that adjusted to the reshaping college BB in that they are older and more experienced than ever. The way of the freshman-led squads which coaches and fans relied on in the past just didn't cut the mustard today. One and done is here (unfortunately!). It's a different animal out there now.

So, don't look at our BB problems, look at the way Calipari had difficulty adapting to college basketball's new reality like us. Now he's a swine!

I think the UConn players looked old like grown men compared to teams like ours!

    Honestly,
I would not be surprised if Coach Hodge encouraged the guys to dip their feet in the portal to see if they can't secure more money elsewhere.  He loves these players, and wants what's best for them.
I highly doubt he subscribes to the Littrell mantra of, "Once you're gone, you're gone".   I bet he still keeps in touch with them, letting them know that they still have spots here (with the same, if not more NIL$) if they don't get what they're looking for elsewhere.

As has been stated several times before... Coach Hodge is cut from the JUCO cloth.   Turnover is constant in the JUCO world.  He knows how to deal with this.

    Agreed

How much is it though? And are we at least competing with our conference peers? Those are the questions I'd like answers to. I find the turnover pretty concerning. The only other program I can think of that's going through the same thing we are that didn't lose their coach is ECU. They've lost 8 players.

Every team is facing turnover.  This is not anything new.  It’s the system.  Also we don’t have that one star player like last season with Tylor.

Just a quick note on tbt.  We are in!!!  We will be playing our regional this year in the Fertitta Center in Houston.  No word yet as to seeding but the first game will be around July 19th.  We are in search of a uniform sponsor so if anyone is interested please PM me and I will give you the details.  Team is pretty much intact from last year so far and obviously we are looking to add a couple of players.

thank you to everyone is helping with this.  We have high expectations this year.

Also,  we will be changing the name slightly due to some copyright problems with an eagles fan who owns the mark "bleed green"

Thank you for all your support of the program!

So now the drum roll begins about whether SMU will make a run at grabbing Ross Hodge away from us..this will go on for awhile, I fear.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing.  They will try to money whip him.  Lanier was a weird hire always to me.

Ya know what no one is going to remember 5 years from now? The teams that opted out. They'll remember the champion, and maybe the ones that were selected (if they look it up). Ain't nobody gonna go looking for why UNT ended up getting to the NIT after having the NET that we do, and winning it the previous year and think, "huh, I guess those 'bigger' programs just didn't care..."

    This times 100!

  7. Looks like they missed the NCAA this year which is a huge disappointment for them.

    Quote

K-State enters NIT play 19-14 overall. The ‘Cats finished 8-10 in conference play before going 1-1 in the Big 12 tournament. It’s the first time missing the NCAA tournament under Jerome Tang, after K-State made an Elite 8 run in 2023.

I am thrilled so many schools turned down invites, because I'm not sure we get in otherwise.  Hard to know now given they've changed the way they invite AND seed the thing.  Up until two years ago they had seeded the four brackets 1-8 (once seeding started, which is actually fairly new for the NIT...probably only started within the last dozen years or so).  Now it's 1-4 and they throw everyone else in seemingly randomly.

But yet when I review the brackets there are not any bad teams in fact I think it is a stronger bracket than last year.

For the love of God, no matter how many hotels/motels sell out do not under any circumstances stay at the Red Roof Inn in Lubbock.

Crap I reserved there with no refund.  Details to watch out for?  I went cheap and got a $49 rate.
