  1. Y'all, SMU is having a tough morning. After last week's desperation ACC Hail Mary and now this... Pony pride has to be at an all-time low.
  2. Careful with MHver3 because they have been all over the place with their information and predictions. The AAC exit fee is $10M with a 27 month waiting period. PAC4 can’t wait 27 months because they need a new TV deal ASAP. Because of this, the PAC4 don’t have the leverage to just poach schools which is why a full merger makes the most sense. The only way to avoid the $10M fee and 27 month waiting period is if the AAC outright dissolves. For that to happen, 11 out of 14 AAC schools would need to vote YES to dissolve. I'm guessing the 4 AAC schools ready to jump are... SMU, Tulane, USF, & Memphis. That leaves 7 other schools needing to vote YES to pull this off. As long as the CUSA6 hold the line together, they can kill any attempt to dissolve the conference. I swear to God, CUSA6 hold the effing line!
  3. In order to ensure the top two teams play each other in the conference championship and therefore increase the odds for the College Football Playoffs, I could also see 5 team pods form. Pod 1: WSU, OSU, Stanford, Cal, SDSU Pod 2: AF, SMU, Rice, Tulane, Navy Pod 3: UNT, UTSA, Tulsa, Memphis, UAB Pod 4: USF, FAU, Charlotte, ECU, Temple SEC is already considering Pod scheduling as they become a super conference.
  4. Bruh. This is THE move. Our estimated TV take home money in the Pac/AAC league would be $10M. That’s a huge step up from what we’ve been getting in CUSA and is significantly more that reduced share we’re scheduled to receive in the current AAC. This merger would elevate our program to new heights. Let’s go Aresco. 🙏🏼
  5. Trey Smith is a credentialed media member and covers the AAC. Everyone take a deep breath.
  6. Looking eastward… Temple and Charlotte have heartburn as well.
  7. 1. If true, Aresco would open up the American to lawsuits and damages in the tens of millions of dollars by the teams kicked out. 2. Also, Why would Aresco negotiate a deal with Oliver Luck to basically put himself out of a job?
  8. Seriously! This has to be the best self-own of all time. I wish our admins would pin this to the top of the message board for eternity.
  9. Close my eyes and I can see it now [Cue ESPN 30 for 30 music] “What if I told you… the rise of the Miami Hurricanes in the 80’s, laid the recruiting blueprint for a sleeping giant to be awoken in Texas…” The U of North Texas
  10. Good question. I’d imagine it’s a few reasons. First, the addition of Cal and Stanford doesn’t move the needle and would result in a lower share of TV revenue per year for the current ACC schools. Cal & Stanford clearly aren’t desperate enough to pull an SMU and forgo ACC TV revenue for 5 years. Secondly, this puts pressure on ND to give up their independence and join the ACC as a full member… which they clearly don’t want to. ND does move the needle and their addition to the ACC would further solidify the ACC’s position as a Power conference, leading to a much larger TV deal.
  11. According to Bleacher Report ACC is one vote short of adding Cal & Stanford
  12. I know this is a fan account but damn I like the way they think.
  13. I strongly encourage you to buy this Nike Dri-FIT bucket hat from Academy. I used it a few weeks ago filming an outdoor spot for Oklahoma Joe's Smokers in 107 degree heat. It's a game changer. Toss a little water in that bad boy and you're good to go.
  14. AAC currently has 14 football members. Adding the PAC 4 would take us to 18 football members and most likely create East/West divisions to cut down on travel costs. AAC's TV deal with ESPN allows for renegotiation if/when the AAC adds teams of value. Adding four P5 schools in the Pacific time zone would definitely create a more lucrative deal. It would not surprise me to see ESPN overpay a little in order to entice the PAC 4 and keep them out of the MWC. I've heard the rumor that the PAC 4 would receive full TV revenue shares while UNT and the other five CUSA additions would stay at their reduced TV share. Aresco has his work cut out for him but with ESPN's backing, he could negotiate a win-win for everyone. So long as Cal & Stanford's educational elitism doesn't get in the way.
