  1. Best Pimm's Cup. If its your first time, Napoleon House at Chartres & St. Louis. Otherwise I'd say Kingfish at Chartres & Conti.
  2. Looks like it was a bad weather day in New Orleans, odds of having 200 & 300 blocks of Bourbon Street open in a week just went down.
  3. The Bourbon Street construction project is bad. It looks like the 200, 300, & 400 block are closed. There are sidewalks to access the businesses, but street itself is closed. There is a good chance the 200 block and maybe even the 300 block will be open by December 15th. So in finding home bars, we may want to look further down the street in the 600 & 700 blocks like Bourbon Heat, Cats Meow, Crazy Corner, Pat O'Briens, Saints & Sinners, and Tropical Isle. This week's construction update. (We'll know more early next week). https://roadwork.nola.gov/roadwork/media/Documents/Bourbon/FQIIP-Status-update-Dec-04-2017.pdf
  4. Nice things cost money. The question here is are we willing to pay for nice things? And what are other comparable Universities paying for their nice things?
  5. Does anyone have any info on this? Not so interested in bowling, is there a list of what the other stops are going to be?
  6. Awesome. Buy your ticket through the school. They'll have will call ore e-tickets. http://meangreenpostseason.com/
  7. Things To Do With Kids (all ages) The Aquarium & Imax (Canal St @ the River) The Insectarium (Canal St, FQ Side) Zoo (uptown) *-All of these are closed on Mondays. Things To Do With Small Kids Storyland at City Park
  8. Allow me to introduce a new contender to the Po Boy topic: Verti Mart at Royal & Gov. Nichols. They will also deliver to your hotel room.
  9. A bus trip. If they offered a two-night option, I would consider it. But I can't imagine there a lot of folks out there that want to do 16 hour round trip and only get to spend one night in the city.
  10. I love Port of Call’s burger. But if you’re at Port of Call you have to get a monsoon (the adult version of a hurricane), which might kill you. I’m a big fan of the burgers at Yo Mamas on St. Peter’s.
  11. 1. Maybe +2, but they’ll probably punk out.
  12. Let's talk Fried Chicken. Dooky Chase and Willie Mae's are considered the gold standard in New Orleans. Do not attempt to walk from the FQ to these restaurants, its still a rough part of town. Willie Mae's opened an uptown location on the St. Charles Street Car line (it's a street car not trolley). In the FQ there is Fiorella's & Coop's both on Decatur past Jackson's Square. Fiorella's is amazing, but they fix it on the spot, so be prepared to wait. Coop's taste plate is awesome and comes with rabbit gumbo. There is also no shame in hitting up the Popeye's on Canal Street.
  13. This a defensive move by SMU to hurt our recruit. They just want to say to recruits, we looked at that guy & he wanted to come here, but he's not up to our standards. I seriously double SL will fall for this BS and even take the interview.
  14. It's one of the official bowl hotels. The school is subsidizing 80+ rooms.
  15. I'm I wear my old cap & gown can I get in on the $60 hotel room & game ticket combo?
  16. Let's giving winning a try. I good bowl season this year, followed by a New Year's Six Bowl next year might just do the trick. None of the G5 are going to truly compete with P5 on a national level, but they can be seen as regional power houses.
  17. 9 Teams make a bowl, 10 qualified for the post-season! That means a record number of post-season revenue. Why don't we give on the field success a chance before we blow everything up.
  18. I wish they did stuff like this when I went to school. I also wish we went to bowl games when I went to school.
  19. Pro Tip: Carbroiled Oysters. It's getting towards the end of the season, but there's and R in December so it's still ok. If this your first visit: Go stand in line at ACME. (In FQ on Iberville in-between Royal & Bourbon.) For seasons travelers: Dragos at the Hilton or Felix's across the street from ACME.
  20. G5s don’t recruit nationally, half the P5s don’t recruit nationally. They said on the broadcast during the championship game that SL’s recruiting focus is the 4 metroplex counties. But it takes Bowl experiences out of DFW to help entice future local recruits.
  21. Harrah’s casino has free 24-hour parking if you play for 30 minutes on your rewards card (it’s free to get a card). Hotels charge $25-$40 per day for parking.
  22. Some bowl basics. Schools must buy/guarantee a ticket block. Sell more than their block and they make a profit. Don’t sell your block and the difference is taken from the bowl payout. Buy your tickets through the school, if we you can buy the extra student ticket. The ticket will be used, probably by the band or student council, but it helps the school and attendance numbers. We got to show the bowls that this team travels!
