  1. This is why it's good to have realistic expectations and take it one goal at a time. Goal 1: Beat SMU. Goal 2: 6 wins to be bowl eligible. Goal 3: Win CUSA West. Goal 4. Win the conference championship. Goal 5: Win our bowl game. That's our plan every year. Any time we do 3 out of the 5 its a great year. Do that 3 out of 5 seasons, then we can start adding some new goals.
  2. That post was a bit melodramatic to come up with such a light "impact." If we had won what game left on the schedule do you think would have hit 30k? We all knew going into last night's game that it was going to be the highest attended game.
  3. Instead of dozens of posts with dozens of reasons we lost, let's see what the consensus #1 reason is.
  4. All weekday games suck. But we'll make the best of it. We could very well could be a ranked, undefeated team playing in a conference championship rematch game that night, with the ability to control who we see in the conference championship game on the line. I'll be there. My kids will be there.
  5. I took the shuttle to a game last season. The driver was from Arlington and had no idea how to get around Denton. The solution here might be a simple as getting a new vendor.
  6. 1. SMU (measuring stick vs. last season) 2-7. All Divisions Games (with LA Tech at the top of the list. I care more about the teams we play & recruit against every season) 8-9. All Conference Games (FAU at the top of that list) 10. Arkansas (Its a payday game) 11-12. The fcs games. (Payday games the other direction. I'm against all FBS vs fcs games. There's a 120+ D1 teams, teams have plenty of options to schedule good games.)
  7. The Sun Belt definitely had a better on field product last season than they've previously had. But its going to be a real challenge for the Sun Belt to maintain its position, let alone gain momentum. They just don't have the budgets, media coverage and fan base support to move up in the football world.
  8. Does anyone know if there are any food packages available this season? I know in the past the Family Zone seats used to include a food package, and from time to time the sell family four-packs of tickets that come with food. I didn't see any food package info on the ticket website. Can GMG.com help a big guy out?
  9. My take away: Boycott the Dallas Hyatt Regency. They think they are too good for local money.
  10. This kind of attitude is what is wrong with OUR school. We get something new, its going to bring us more money & exposure. And them someone comes and shits on it, because they want something.
  11. It was really disappointed with this "reporting." Nothing about the difference between public and private (nothing about TCU). Nothing about the student costs to attend UT & A&M or the costs to attend games at those schools. Nothing about state funding for UT & TCU.
  12. www.star-telegram.com/sports/college/article202356619.html I didn't see this link posted on here, maybe its somewhere else on the boards. But articles like this really make me mad. The students voted for the fee.
  13. As someone who actually uses the stroller room (my kids are 6 & 4), we are not talking about that many people. I have never seen more than 16 strollers & wagons in the room. At the end of the game there at usually 2-4 strollers left. Moving a single game, isn't going to run off the fan base. And besides the #apogeedome there is one other solutions for parents #chicfilaconcessionstand.
  14. There is no question the SBC is having one of its best years. There is also no question that any SBC school invited to join any other conference would jump at the opportunity. The fact is there is a peaking order in college football, and while individual teams and conferences have single seasons that rise above the pecking order, the pecking order is still there for all of the majority of seasons.
  15. I think more moderation is the solution. There are a few users that regularly go beyond a "difference of opinion" and start trolling other users. These users are regularly exposed for their unrealistic expectations and lack of fandom. This is the kind of thing that drives off other users. I think the board would be better off with more 7-day bans.
  16. This is one of the chicken & egg questions. Is it better to have fixed kickoff times or flexible times to build a fan base? I would personally like to see the September games pushed back 1 hour to 7 p.m., then October & November at 6 p.m.
  17. I thought this would be a fun way for the board to share some New Year's Resolutions on how to be a better fan and better board member in 2018. I'll start. Better Fan: I'm going to buy season tickets for the family, instead of waiting to see what the weather is like for each game. Better GMG Board Member: I'm going to use the "Ignore User" feature instead of engaging the trolls on this board.
  18. This is the type of post that makes me think we should shut the message board down in the off season. Posts so blind by their rage, they ignore simple fact. Fanatical rage, nothing more. The team won 9 games, that happened. The team competed game in and game out, through the end of the fourth quarter. That fight till the end attitude that we saw at the SMU game, is what paid dividends in all those 4th quarter comebacks.
  19. Lots of silly comments on here, but why let the facts get in the way of your on-line narrative. Bowl invites are the product of bowl selection committees, conference affiliation, ticket sales, revenue potential, tv ratings potential, conference politics, program status, and finally a team’s record. The facts remain: The Independence Bowl never extended an invite. Southern Miss is historically better than UNT. 18 consecutive winning seasons. 7 winning seasons out of the last ten. Won the New Orleans Bowl last season. Has played in the NO Bowl 3 times in the last 10 years. LA Tech played in the NO Bowl two seasons ago. An Army rematch at the Armed Forces Bowl wasn’t in anyone’s best interest. So that left a choice between New Mexico and New Orleans. The “we should have waited” crowd are ignoring the reality that the conference has to play nice with its bowl partners, and the school has to play nice with the conference. Waiting would have probably looked like this; NO Bowl invites Marshall, New Mexico takes LA Tech. UNT is then on the clock for the Frisco Bowl. The Inpendence Bowl is telling the room they are only taking Southern Miss, and UTSA is ready to accept the Frisco invite. UNT folds and accepts the Frisco invite. The haters on this board are still going to scream, we still should have waited and forced the i-bowl to pick us. In the process burning every conference and bowl bridge along the way.
  20. I get that same ass, but didn't want to say anything. Does anyone know the backstory on this butt?
  21. Over the last two seasons this team is 14-10 in the regular season with 7 of those wins against bowl teams. Your letting the 0-3 post season cloud your judgement.
  22. The Game You can’t turn the ball over that many times and win. The refs were horrible. I lost my voice yelling at those non-pass interference calls. The team was competitive against a much physically larger team. Game Day Experience The meet up at Borgne was fun. We need to do more stuff like this. I loved that the restaurant was packed with green. We need to be able to do something like that at every away game. I really like that they had Bowl game beads. One thing I would suggest for anyone who’s connected with the alumni association, add a 50/50 raffle. You’ve got a packed room that wants to support the program. Capitalize on this type of momentum. (At the Saints game the next day they grossed over 200k for a raffle). Bowl Atmosphere It was cool seeing people out in green all weekend. We need a cooler greeting than just saying “caw” at each other. I wish more fans and specifically more students would have attended. Teams that travel well, get bigger, better bowl games. Bowl City I wish the weather was better. It was awesome on Sunday, it was just kind of cold on Friday & Saturday. The Bourbon Street construction was a bummer. The city and locals were more friendly and aware of the Bowl than those early 2000’s games. Overall Wife and I had fun. Got to go to one of the best cities in the world and see my team play in an NFL stadium. For future bowls (and I really believe this team will be going to future bowls) we should try to alternate between a local bowl and travel bowl every other year, with New Orleans as a destination every other away Bowl. Go Mean Green!
  23. Are we calling out smokies too?
