And I am just counting days until all of the good ACC schools that SMU essentially paid to be in a conference with leave the Ponies behind again to join the Big 10 or SEC.

ACC will be forced to merge with the MAAC... or merge with *GASP* the AAC!  See you soon Ponies!

You act like this is a new phenomenon.  The wealthy have always ruled this world and they always will.

...and yet here you are wasting time posting on a UNT fan message board.

Don't you have even MORE money to make?

He's tired of only making it to the NIT

If he went to Houston y'all would have him riding the bench unless he suddenly gained a bunch of discipline in his fast break, ball handling, and learning not to be a messy inaccurate hero at the end of close games.

Appreciate his contributions.  Hope your check is big and you actually get to play where you go.

  4. We booked sometime a few weeks ago and it was $548 for two nights at Home 2 Suites on the Hilton app.

Honestly it's no better or worse than some of the prices for hotels at our other away game cities.  Two nights at the Hampton Inn in Hattiesburg, especially if it was their homecoming weekend, would regularly be $600 back when we were in CUSA.  Have you ever tried to stay two nights in Ruston? $550 to $650 at that Courtyard during most of our weekends there.

Being a college football fan has never been cheap.

  5. This game exposed some of our consistently questionable game planning.  Not sure if its a function of our starting 5 or the coaching.

Seton Hall is a very good team, probably should have been in the NCAA Tourney, especially after seeing some of the first 4 and first round games.

As for schools not honoring their full NIL commitment, that's happening.

Jayden Rashada at Florida in Football not getting his money.

Or the flip side there Kayden Proctor who took NIL money and then bounced back into the portal.

Cam Rising taking half a mil and never playing a snap last season.

It's very much the Wild West our there for both Collectives and Players.

You say the money is not life changing.  At his age, if he puts $100K in a Roth fund, he is able to retire a multi-millionaire at 50.  That is life changing.

Pretty sure he's ineligible for a Roth if the IRS is seeing him bring in $250k in a year.  And maybe I need a new money guy, but isn't the regular IRA max this year still $6500?

I get the sentiment of what you're saying... but you aren't hiding $250k pretax into a Roth IRA in a single year.

Hopefully he's well diversified in Bonds, Treasuries, Equities, his IRA, etc etc. 😅 Basically I hope he didn't go out and buy a Hellcat with that money (if he got it).

Next year looks like this one and I’m ready to move on.

    From what? Hodge? UNT Fandom?

I remember a lot of bad basketball years in my 25+ years of being a fan.  This doesn't even make my top 10.

How long are we at Dickies? I love it but if we ever move it, it should go to New Orleans.

Awesome idea if you want the stands to be the same 50 retired fans that can pack up and leave DFW for a week.

We need to advocate the AAC as long as we're in it to keep this tourney in DFW.  We have something like 200k local DFW alums.

This really isn't a versus scenario. But since moving to the west coast I have caught 10x more games out here on TV than years past. MWC administrators have figured it out. They POUR into basketball. Heavily. I caught a lot more MWC football, too. Their football attendance is meh and the energy in the stadium is meh, similar to the AAC. But their basketball is next level. And it has been for some time. And not just the level of play, but the fan commitment to just showing up. It's phenomenal, to be honest. The energy and environment rivals any conference, any.

What did they do that we, as a basketball conference, can emulate?

If I'm the commissioner of the AAC I'm scheduling a summer meeting with their commish. Same for AD'S and pro sport presidents. Sit down and pick the brain of their peers.

They know its easier to get eyeballs on their schools through NCAA tourney and NIT so they pour into basketball instead of football (except Boise State).

That fan base will riot if he hired a first year HC with 17 wins under his belt.

WVU boosters still feel very burned by Neal Brown's performance in football coming out of The Belt... And he had 4 seasons at Troy with 3 of them in a row with 10 wins.

They won't allow a Mid Major MBB coach unless he's very experienced and firing on all cylinders.

    Noooo!! Get off of Ticketbastard!

After fees, $25 will get you in the building and buying through UNT will send some of that money to the school.

Hate to be picky, but you can't pick seats with this method.  Best Available might end you up in the sections behind the basket vs something better along side of the court.

I'm happy to Yolo visitor section football tickets through the school, less patient with bad basketball tickets.

  13. Is everyone trying to sit in 106 directly behind the High Seed (UNT) bench or section 107 in the middle?

Going to Ticketmaster website to buy tickets, it appears almost sold out for the 6pm Thursday selection.  Most of the tickets left are "Verified Resale" tickets.

  14. We made the trek out to Ft Worth from Plano for the game.   A few thoughts:

    • Not my first trip to the arena, but Dickies is a very nice midsized arena.
    • I know we weren't supposed to like The Star, but even with the upper levels curtained off, Dickies feels cavernous with no people in it. Takes away the energy in a bit, even more than an empty Super Pit.
    • This Mean Green Women's BB team attempts to play a fast-paced offense that we haven't seen in years of watching Mens BBall with Hodge and Mac before that.
    • The Mean Green Women's fast-paced offense sometimes feels totally out of control. I am not a BBall savant, but their ball-handling skills cannot keep up with the pace of the offense they are attempting to play.
    • The Rice defense appeared to shut down our offense at times, especially when we made sloppy passes through traffic in the middle that lacked power.
    • It was clear who could sink 3s from the Rice team. I think it was #11 and #3 (I might have the second number wrong; I think she was a blondish white girl). We frequently left them open at the top of the arc, and they frequently scored from those positions.
    • When the pace seems to get out of control, Burton needs to call a Timeout. There were a few times when we were perfectly fine letting the whole game get fast and sideways, but a simple timeout would have brought the pace to zero and given us time to reset. Burton gives Littrell vibes in this regard. You don't get extra points for saving your timeouts or having so many at the end that you just call them one after another in the final seconds.
    • I feel for the women's team and understand the gravity of a 3-way tie winning the regular season and looking like you're going to go out in the first game in the Conf Tourney. Still, you GOTTA pull it together in the clutch final seconds of a winnable basketball game.  Burton needs to find a way to bring the mental fortitude of the team up for next season.

Great job, Women's team. I say that sincerely, and I also acknowledge and apologize for how easy it is for all of us to be Monday Morning Quarterbacks. I'm excited for the years ahead!

Regroup, improve, mature, and recruit great in the offseason, and we will only see greater successes next season.
