Again, the Mean Green sits atop the Conference USA rankings, something North Texas has done for several months now. The Mean Green ranks 21 spots higher than the next-highest Conference USA team, which is Western Kentucky at No. 77 in the country.

In case you weren't aware, Stadium TV (available OTA on channel 47.1 and also by other means) does a good job covering CUSA on their Thursday editions. Several segments have been done on the Mean Green this season and they also aired the SMU game locally.

I had a chance to speak with Mr. Smatresk tonight at Perot alumni event. I told him I thought it would a good idea to create a scholarship for Native Americans and name it after Mason Fine. In my opinion, it would a great way to honor this young man (who will become a great alumni for UNT) and create a unique niche for the university. He said he thought it was a good idea and will look into it, but he said something like this couldn't be funded with public money. I told him by the time Mason wraps up his career next year, he should have so many accolades that raising money for this probably wouldn't be an issue. Anyways, just passing this along...if something ever becomes of it, then just remember you heard it here first! #GMG
