    On the post game radio show, they talked of bowl games being very regional this year due to the pandemic.  They thought there is a possibility there could be a rematch on the horizon with SMU at the Frisco Bowl.  

    I missed part of it, but I though I heard them say we may know something by the end of the weekend.  Frisco is a short drive for me - GMG!

    Here's a public shout-out of thanks to Wren and the entire Athletic Dept for giving us a season. 

    I was worried over the summer there wouldn't be any football at all.  Or, the season would be so diminished that it would be almost like no season at all.  Or, all the "safety protocols" would be so extensive that I'd feel like I'm having a rectal exam every time I went through the gates.  Luckily, none of that happened.

    Of course I wish the team had a better season.  But, as a fan, I'm happy I had was able to be in the stands cheering on the team.  And, we managed to get an extra home game out of it and maybe even a local bowl game!  

    I'm sure the school, Wren and his team had a lot of obstacles and headaches to deal with this year.  So, thank you to all of those people for giving us loyal fans something to rally around on a Saturday during this pandemic.  I look forward to seeing everyone again on Saturday, September 4, 2021 - GO MEAN GREEN!

    We have teams on opposite sides of the equation here with little to hang their hat on coming into the contest. North Texas has a great offense but their defense is a train wreck. The Mean Green is fourth-worst in the nation in scoring defense and gives up 511 yards per game in total offense this season. UTEP has had problems on the offensive side of the ball this season but they are a middle of the road defense. Given how poor North Texas is at actually stopping anyone on the defensive side of the ball, you have to be concerned about their chances of doing that here. Take the Miners as the “home” team with the points in this contest.

    Coming to the game here the Mean Green and Miners have both had some good offensive runs on the year. The problem for the Miners is they have dropped 3 games in a row on the year so far. The Mean Green have lost 2 games in a row and while they did lose they were unable to really keep the game that close. Look for the Miners to be able to break their losing streak in this game. Final Score Prediction, UTEP Miners win 34-21.

    PICK: I’m going to stick with North Texas in this one, but it should be a pretty darn good game. The Mean Green have some pretty solid scoring totals to their credit this season, and they can put up serious points given the right situation. Louisiana Tech can produce well also, but they haven’t been able to decisively pull away from any opponent outside of Houston Baptist this year. I like the Green to tough out a cover in a fun game here.

    I am taking North Texas in this one. North Texas has won two out of their last three games while L.A. Tech has dropped two out of their last three. This is L.A. Tech’s first game since October 31st due to postponements. That is a long time to be on the sidelines and it is definitely a disadvantage.

    Furthermore,  the Bulldogs are a poor defensive team and this is not an ideal matchup against a Mean Green team that can pile on the points. They rank 22nd in the FBS with an average of 280 passing yards per game and the L.A. Tech pass defense is a problem as they are placed 88th in the FBS against the pass.

     

    Prediction: North Texas Mean Green +4

    Both teams have struggled mightily on third down in 2020, but North Texas' offense converts third downs at a 51 percent clip while Louisiana Tech is under 38 percent for the season.     The over/under is 66! What’s the reason it’s so high? The North Texas defense has been horrible this year. LA Tech can and will light up the scoreboard in this one.
