Good luck to Rubin @ Michigan. Thanks for the memories. Just curious why he just didn't walk on at Michigan from Yates HS if he loved the history and family feel so much. Had a very good career at Yates but Michigan wasn't around when only UTEP, UNT and Nichols State came calling.

He was not the same player his freshman year.

I think Rubin is the standard for a developing player.  His Frosh year, he was a source to eat minutes for the starters.  Good on defense. He was not part of the offense.  Soph year became part of the rotation, even handled the ball some. Jr year became starter, handled the ball a good bit, rebounded…..Sr year, he became the man.  Added scoring to his game.   Complete development of a player that got him a shot at Michigan.

we need a Rubin in every recruiting class

    Thank you all.

I didn’t.  I don’t have a subscription to the DRC.  I copied and pasted.  It is not keeping me from reading the article.

Yeah, sadly, I fear that the answer is pretty simple: we have the worst NIL in the conference.  Until that changes, we'll be sending Hodge into a gunfight with a knife.  The further we get into the NIL era, the harder it's going to be to keep up the momentum from past success.  At this point we're basically just hoping and praying that Hodge is a WAY better coach/recruiter/evaluater than his AAC counterparts.  Even if he is really good at those things, we can't just expect him to pull off miracles every single season.

The problem with this, if Hodge is that good at recruiting over and over, in 2-2 years, he will be swooned away by $$$$ at a larger school.

  4. You know, despite the injuries, we still had a pretty solid season.  And if everybody came back, would be in line for a really strong 2024-25 season.  I have not heard any of them already with an NIL deal.

is Hodge chasing them away?   I have only met him twice.  He seems like a nice guy and players coach.

there has to be a reason to this….and without NIL deals in place, what is the pull?

  5. I wear green glasses, drink green kool-aid, and bleed green….dont get me wrong.  I want a 20+ win season as much as anybody.  But they keep getting earlier in hitting us up for tickets.  I have my tickets, so I can now speculate, prognosticate, bitch/moan, and make insignificant wagers with fellow fans as to what we think we will have next season.

I encourage everybody to buy your season tickets and join me.

The Final Four isn't final yet, we haven't begun to sign people for next year outside of the high schoolers and our roster is far from being set and we get this?  Let's let it play out and see what happens.  What if Ruben, Aaron and Edwards have a change of heart after casting their line and return?  Too many what ifs at this point.

Dude, they have already hit me up for my season tickets for next year.

Pretty sure he's ineligible for a Roth if the IRS is seeing him bring in $250k in a year.  And maybe I need a new money guy, but isn't the regular IRA max this year still $6500?

I get the sentiment of what you're saying... but you aren't hiding $250k pretax into a Roth IRA in a single year.

Hopefully he's well diversified in Bonds, Treasuries, Equities, his IRA, etc etc. 😅 Basically I hope he didn't go out and buy a Hellcat with that money (if he got it).

Good point. The new rule for a single is Max $161K to put into a Roth. Max is $8K now

We need this one so badly.  Losing 4 of 5 is very unlike our teams of recent years.

We have been right in every one of those loses….top teams in the conference.   We win those games with a full roster.  We belong in this conference.
