  1. What about Gonzaga? They certainly aren't a P5 either but have been going to tourney nearly every year for the last 20 years with 3 coaches and have keep their latest coach for over 15 years.
  2. I have long thought in order to build something here it would be much easier to do it in Basketball than it is in football. The right coach has a bigger impact in basketball and has an immediate impact. There are more basketball games per year and don't need outside help in getting to NCAA tourney, just win your conference. So why not load up and pay for a proven coach and start filling the pit. Pay him more than the football coach, go all in. That national exposure might even help the football program in the long run and if not Duke, Kentucky and Kansas have been getting along alright without winning much in football.
  3. Middle Tennesse beats Michigan State in the NCAA Tourney and We have Benford and Villareal.
  4. I wouldn't mind a neutral site game at AT&t but would prefer it be an out of state school and preferably a Pac12 or Big10 team.
  5. HOD Bowl Game was fun. Staying at the hotel with the team and the feel that things might be changing for the better was great but short lived. The New Orleans Bowl trips were fun but seemed to be more about hangin out New Orleans. So the biggest even in history that still sticks with me today and the one that comes up in conversation the most was the win against UT in 1988. And yes I know the records don't show it as a win but it was.
  6. I wish he would write about him every day. Maybe everyone would notice how god awful he is and push for a change.
  7. They addressed areas of immediate needs. Were able to get some pieces that will be an impact next year and some to build on for the next few years. All they need to do now is win some games, put up stats this season and next year's class could be great. Scoring points will get notice.
  8. Really? I haven't seen too much of it. I see more guys that don't even get an offer than actually do. At this point I can see not spending a lot of time chasing guys that everyone is after but make offers. I don't remember them offering either Tyus Bowser or Greg Ward from JT and both of them were dynamic on the field and making plays at Houston now. They didn't offer the QB at Lake Dallas and he would seem to fit the offense they want to run going forward. They didn't offer Caleb Abrom at DeSoto who looks to me like he could play safety in college. Craig Suits at Poteet and Dane Evans at Sanger both went to Tulsa and I don't remember them getting offered or pursued much. I am sure one could sit down and go back over guys that were not even thrown an offer by UNT and signed somewhere other than a P5 school and come up with a pretty good team.
  9. No single metro area has the talent to supply the nation. But DFW is one of the most fertile and the only one UNT can have an advantage in. Going all the way back to when I was in High School I have seen many local kids that could play go off to some crappy little school in Kansas, Illinois, etc... because that was their only offers to just get disgruntled and quit football. North Texas needs to look for those kids that can play but not getting looks by the P5 schools and give them the opportunity to actually attend a real University close to home.
  10. Get in deep and tight with the High School coaches. Go after the guys who got looked over by the team they grew up wanting to play for because they are an inch too short, 10 lbs too light or 1 second too slow but play with an edge. Go after the guys who aren't heavily recruited at their playing position but have the talent to play another position. Do those things and you can build a competitive team, a competitive team will allow you to then steal a better recruit here and there.
  11. What ever happened to the QB at Lake Dallas? I saw him once his Junior year and he looked pretty good but haven't heard anything about him.
  12. Jake Raulerson? Kyle Allen? Trevor Knight?
  13. The High School playoffs have once again proven that Denton County is one of the deepest talent pools in the state. This needs to be a point of emphasis with the new staff and the focus of recruiting. Push the local kids with the idea of getting to play in front of family and friends. Make it a point of pride in showing that Denton County is the best at football. Get to play with the guys you played against growing up. It would only take a few to get it started and you would then have local recruiters on campus and it is much easier to stay in touch with guys who go to high school within a 5 to 30 minute drive from campus. It wouldn't have a bad effect on ticket sales either.
  14. It begins with the guys up front.
  15. I would be Happy with the Slot T, if you bring in the right guy to run the program any offensive scheme would be more successful than everything that has taken the field at Apogee.
  16. He did better at Kansas than anyone since, knows how to score on offense and all around hard nose coach.
