Littrell To be co offensive coordinator for Oklahoma.
Congrats to him. That's about as good a landing spot he could have hoped for.
And more importantly, that does offset some of his buyout costs doesn't it?

. As fans, we are loyal to the program, regardless of coach or players. We will still be here even if they choose to leave.
For me that is most of the problem. I'm not cheering for Mosley or even Morris. I want to cheer for Fine, Rogers, Mean joe, super jamario, Darden, cobbs... etc...

I just want to cheer for a consistent UNT football team. Not paid employee #9.

Shorter? Qb doesn't want to sit on the bench. If Rod can have a the same type of per game stats and we have a half ass D, he would get some pro looks.
I truly, truly do hope he stays for the promise that things could be amazing, but I guess if I were making a point it's that we need to pay to keep him. And we should.
We also need to pay for some very large and angry O/D Line players.
If we aren't paying, we aren't really playing (I hate myself for even typing that sentence, damned NIL)

He hasn't even had a full year of recruiting. These days teams are build by recruiting in the transfer portal. You bring in a new DC to implement a different system, then you have to find players that fit that system. These coaches missed most, if not all, of last years transfer portal, and didnt have a lot to work with in the spring.
Making a coaching change on the eve of the portal opening, means throwing away another year of recruiting and will put the next DC in the exact same position.
Recruiting or not... if you are the worst person at your job in the nation then you aren't right for the job. Transfers will not be looking to sign up for that, so saying he needs a chance to recruit is moot. They will not want to play for him.
If he had been middling or had some ups and downs... OK maybe. But nope, worst in FBS. Send him down a division for more experience and bring in a name that will entice transfers. This is a very limited window to show defensive recruits we are serious.

Didn't happen. He had 5 years in this program and 2 years to prepare for the Big 12. Time to get someone new.
There's this caponi guy who I hear is an amazing up and Comer. Just needs bigger players like Houston has. Maybe start spreading the word...

Oh gees, the off-season Drama King posts are starting a bit early this year.....😉
I might be a drama king, but be honest with yourself. If you had an amazing season and a P5 called you up for $200k, would you even blink before saying yes?
Either we pay or he walks. That's the (unfortunate) reality now. There is no team loyalty anymore, just what the player can get.

He graduates this summer. He can transfer if he wants in the last portal window in the spring.
Well that's the worst news I've had today. No way he is here next year with NIL in play.
Maybe drop Caponi and use that 400k to pay Rogers instead?

I would definitely drop that o-line grade to a C or possibly a D. We had to rely on a lot of scrambling or begging Rogers to dump the ball faster

Fire up the tower and fire Caponi!
Lets get a DC before the offseason to encourage better recruits/transfers

So... can we still accept the penalty after that?

And that's why this place has all the energy of a deflated balloon. Defense killed the Morris era energy

We paid too much. For everything.
I don't know the last time I felt less excited to drink and watch football. Probably after Danny mac was fired?

@keith thanks for putting this list together. I'm really curious to see what the results are at the end of the year.
I remember seeing a study that was published in 2012 or 2013 that went back 8 to 10 years comparing how firing a coach resulted in an improved record the next year. A lot of the trends from then still seem to be valid. For example, the worse the team was, the more likely there was immediate improvement. But for teams with a 7-5 record or better, firing the coach only resulted 1 out of 3 times in equalling or improving. Looking at this list, there are seven teams that were 7-5 or better last year and only 2 improved. Yes, firing a coach sometimes works immediately, but 2/3 of the time it doesn't.
So what you are saying is if we fire Morris now we are almost guaranteed a better record next year?

That sounds like someone who is only emotionally invested in himself and what he receives.
I've had a ton of colleagues who have left me with more work so they can take on a new and better job. People I emotionally bonded with that I hope go on to great success.
Otherwise it just sounds lonely and kinda depressing...
