  1. I am an alum who graduated in 1970. Like a number of others here I have had the joys along with the slings and arrows of 50 plus years of UNT/NTSU football. You may not be aware but a lot of alums pushed seat sales so we could get enough people in the stands so we could qualify to get back to D1. That is one of many things done historically for this program which has brought us to the point of where we are today. We are still around, our backs hurt, our knees hurt and it is unfortunate that some of us make you sick and tired. We have given a lifetime of interest and effort to this program. When you are 70 and come back to this forum and have someone, who has a lack of maturity, posting inappropriate comments you will understand why I don't give a rats ass about you being sick and tired. This blog should be about football which is in fact, entertainment. Send your sick and tired comments to butthurt.com.
  2. Camino de termina for you my friend, This guy is the most avid poster against UNT on their board, GMG, and the C USA board. It goes on year round and takes the cheapest of shots. He is a joke and not to be taken seriously. Maybe this game will be the end of the road for Mr ding dong.
  3. Do you ever see U o fND. The real name is University of Notre Dame. I agree with Ben but sometimes we have to play the hand we are dealt.
  4. Morris stayed on his primary receiver way to long. Every Texas high school linebacker knows how to watch his eyes as that is where he will throw. No qb should expect more than 4 seconds protection. He was sacked well after that and it was not the OL fault. Disappointing night, hope it improves.
  5. We are living in their heads, rent free and its is so vast, and so very empty.
  6. SMU can't fill their own stadium if they gave away tickets. Last time they played here they didn't have a thousand show up in Denton. We had 8-10,000 at their house last year. They won't have any attendance this year. How can you even dream about being in the B12 when your attendance is less than our big high schools.
  7. Check out Last U on Netflix. True story of E Mississippi CC. Won National JUCO Championship 3 of 5 years. You see the real struggles of the kids, an over the top Coach, and a Saint of an Academic Advisor. A documentary with real folks playing their part.
  8. He was one of my high school coaches, in Sherman, in the early sixties. He later became head coach at UTEP. He was an excellent coach and a fine man. RIP Coach, and thanks for how you turned boys into young men with your tough but positive approach.
  9. Cedrick Hardman, Oakland Raiders, SuperbowlXV
  10. As per Carthel, he has recruited 20 guys, in his 15 years of coaching that have played in the NFL. His dad was a Texas college coach. It would be hard to find a more connected recruiter. He is a winner, turns programs around, and will recruit well
  11. I have said this before so please excuse the redundancy. There are excess of 1 million high school football players. About 70k play college ball. I contend there is an all American football team out there driving tractors, living in inner cities where no one pays attention, or on a loading dock. I know one coach that has found those kids. n fact he has recruited over 20 kids who have gone to the NFL in 15 years on a D2 level. He is 39 years old, has turned 2 programs around. Just won the Lone Star Conference. His father is a retired college coach, that coached in Texas. They know every high school coach around. He turns programs around, he recruits well and ,he is a proven winner. Colby Carthel, from TAMC is what we need..
  12. Due to both teams results you could market it as a "Grateful Dead Event" just don't call it a concert. There have to be thousands of dead heads around Denton.
  13. Colby Carthel has recruited, over the last 15 years, 20+ plus players who have played in the NFL as per his advice. He did that on the FCS level. His dad was a great Texas college coach and they have strong hs coach support. He is young, he has built programs and he wins.
  14. The Portland State coach has to be a good coach by virtue of his current record. UNT can recruit anywhere but it seems logical to hire a coach that has ties to the high school coaching community and can hit the ground running. It would take several years for an out of state coach to develop a network of hs coaches. Closer to home we have Colby Carthel. He is an FCS coach at east texas A&M. His dad was a succesfull college coach in Texas. In 15 years Coach has been involved in recruiting 20 kids that have played in the NFL. That info came from him. All of those recruited on an FCS level. He has turned around programs, excelled at recruiting won a lot of games including his conference, this year. He is young but a proven recruiter and winner. He is also close to home. I just through this out because it seems to make sense. There are many qualified candidates. I have spent 50 years as an alum and fan. There have been to many years that I thought "well wait until next year" I would like to see UNT have a consistent winner before I run out of airspeed and altitude. Just the ramblings of an old fan.
  15. There are more than a million kids playing high school football in the US. Of those 70,000 play at the college level. There has to be an all American football team that is driving tractors, live in small communities or in such big cities they never get a chance. I believe Coach Carthel has the ability to find those kids. When the more than a million changes to 70,000 and you then have a hand in send 20 to the NFL or top 1,600 it is not an accident, it is miraculous recruiting talent.
  16. Colby Carthel has recruited 20 kids that went to the NFL in 15 years. This information came from him. All these recruits have been on the D 2 level. He is a program builder, a proven winner and his father was a college coach in Texas. He has contacts at every level of Texas. He is a young proven winner and can turn this program around.
  17. Colby Carthel, a coach that has turned things around, well grounded in Texas football, knows how to win and can recruit right away, and is young
  18. When you loose em all it really doesn't matter who is next or who was last.
  19. We need to clear the decks and make sure the new guys have a fervor for recruiting.
  20. Tailgating was even off. Why would you schedule homecoming win Texas/OU were playing in Dallas. Makes no sense to me.
  21. You guys need to look at Colby Carthel. He has turned around bad programs. His dad was a successful FCS football coach. They have great contacts within the Texas high school coaching community. He is young and has proven he knows how to win. I think he is what we need, Take a look at him. http://lionathletics.com/staffaspx?staff=22
