My issues have not really been focused on the offensive side of the ball.  While the offense may also be a wreck, in comparison the issues seem more manageable so I defer to your comments regarding the differences.

My (and others) not so subtle angst has been regarding the defensive clusterF this coach has implemented.  I think the reason the reaction has been so sudden and loud is that many of us witnessed this same thing with Todge and we know how painful that was to endure and ultimately ended in tears.  Morris may not have lived it and Mosley may not have lived it, but plenty of long time fans lived through the Todge years.

There is no reason it had to be this way. Bennet built a blueprint of how to build a complementary defense that was at least serviceable.  This guy was supposed to be a better recruiter and better communicator.  We did not bring him in to try to run some edgy defense that the team was not built to run.  All he had to do was bring in a guy that fit the existing talent OR be prepared to rebuild immediately through the portal.  He did neither.

Why must we have to suffer through another inexperienced coach and AD's learning curve?  These things should have been discovered in the interview process and avoided altogether.

By the way, I hear the mimosas at shuffleboard today were delicious.

Don’t agree Bennett’s defense was serviceable. I agree things have gotten worse, and didn’t think that would/could be the case.

So you are saying the last coach was a horrible recruiter and this new guy didn't find us better alternative than Aune, Head, Rogers, or Earl?  Seriously no longer believe the big donors nor Adminstration are ambitious enough to make the moves necessary not to be left out new CFB the power that be are marching towards.  Us not even making a public attempt to bring in Coach Sanders tell me that we don't really want to win.  Make fun of the trust fund rubes of SMU all you want, but they WANT to win.  They probably won't but you can never claim they aren't trying hard enough.  I regularly skeptical of our leaders efforts and decision making.  FIRST GUESSED not second guessing.

Didn’t know UNT had big doners…not calling this team ‘Mean Green’ until they prove they deserve the moniker. North Texas was pushed around at the line of scrimmage and couldn’t convert on 3rd down…I read an article on ESPN that stated new head coaches have two rules they can use in transfers and recruiting, which helped Sanders and the Texas St. coach both bring into their programs dozens and dozens and dozens of new players…why didn’t North Texas do the same?

First game of the season against a P5 after a coaching change should bring in a good crowd. We had almost 15K for a 1-1 squad in 2013 against Ball St after a couple of mediocre seasons under McCarney. Ball St withered and we won.
But it’s us and NT fans are fair weather fans (literally). We could be 11-0 and have Notre Dame coming in and people would stay home if it was slightly chilly with a 10% chance of rain.

If the Mean Green get to 11-0 that place will be packed. ND in town? Standing room only I bet…

Simple.  Fans that are committed to coming TO SEE NORTH TEXAS because North Texas is playing.  Not because pf the opponent, not because of the stadium, not because it’s a late game or early game, not because it’s hot or cold, or because of some random promotion…we will sell out when our “fans” are committed to being there every time North Texas takes the field.

And win. Would solve a lot of problems. Not all but a lot. And half time should include a local band or bands playing like the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Old ‘97’s or whomever…that 70’s disco cover band…or the whatever-the-o’clock jazz band…get the casual NT students interested in attending…

And win. Transform from a perineal .500 team to a .750 team…and what ColonyEagle typed earlier.

    And win.

I believe Conference chaos has been good for NT so far.   If the dominoes fall right, the AAC could be in line to get some orphaned MWC teams soon.

Colorado leaving before the PAC media deal is revealed is not a good sign it is going well.  Other PAC schools will consider options also as the Big12 dangles a 14th invite.  This will cause the BIG10 to also speed up expansion plans…

Big 10 hasn’t won any CFB playoffs or National Championships since Ohio St in ‘18. Is the Big 10 really that big? With UCLA and whatever other college from CA joining, do they now make the Big 10 ‘Big’?

  6.  I read two ESPN articles today - one about Eric Morris as a new young coach, and one about Auburn and the SEC West and J. Shorter - mention North Texas. The unsolicited publicity or recognition is there it seems (at least today). This defense needs to get back to being Mean. That would help.

  7. So how well do you think Caponi will do this season? Can he be the answer to the Mean Green’s defensive woes? Can they improve by half vs last season and if they do how well will the Mean Green do?

  8.  Caught up with a BU grad during HS grad party yesterday and we talked about Baylor’s challenges in new B12 and their NIL collective. That’s the challenge UNT faces - the new NIL and $. I don’t know about y’all but North Texas was an affordable college option for myself vs other schools during my time. I didn’t come from much $. How does UNT’s collective stack up vs TX and other AAC schools? What’s your thoughts on the $ collective competition scenario the Mean Green are in?
