  1. We should definitely keep playing LA Tech and WKU.
  2. As discussed on other topics, I think the student attendance will be just as good, if not better than Saturday. I'll have about 75 minutes to get from South Fort Worth to Denton, and know that's an easier commute than many others alumni face. At this point I just hope for the same attendance as yesterday. February 26th should be a packed lower bowl.
  3. New strategy: as soon as you feel some contact and you think you're about to get fouled, #PassItToPerry
  4. The amount of students in attendance last night compared to just the last homestand has increased noticeably. Not sure what class the current officers are, but hopefully they recruit some underclassmen and women to keep the tradition going. Next step is to make it a year-round thing. Have a loud student section during nonconference and winter break play.
  5. Two seasons ago, we lost at Rice to fall to 8-2 in conference play. Then we won our next two (and eventually four) to improve to 10-2 in conference play. The numbers check out, people!!
  6. If I just spent however much money on arena renovations, I would be losing my shit too if the student section, who I went out of my way to create special concourse tunnel signage for, decided to change their name a couple of years later. True story. The Maniacs had to hang a banner over the tunnel that says Pit Crew. You can still see the Crew.
  7. I'm a natural optimistic, or maybe I'm still too young and stupid, but I am thinking no more than 2. UAB and a wild card in there somewhere. LA Tech will be tough but I suspect a rockin' Pit to be there behind our team. I don't know if Greek Week is still a thing, but if there's one smart person involved in the process at all, I hope to see a few hundred more Greek students there as well -- even if it's the only game they make it to all season. Unlike Seth, Grant has proven that his team will always be more prepared for the big games.
  8. Judging by his FT percentage last night he should be a starter.
  9. Did you see when they tried launching a shirt at the student section, but it bounced off the side of the backboard and hit a UTSA assistant right in the head?
  10. And Lofton came back onto the floor after the game to exchange respects with Grant.
  11. I hope for another magical run and that the semifinal on the 11th would be at night so I could at least attend two games.
  12. MTSU also hasn't lost since losing to us.
  13. https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2022-march-madness-schedule First and second rounds for the South Region are at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. The Mean Green could have a nice homecourt advantage despite playing a higher seed. *Manifesting this into existence*
  14. I think the students and the local residents are the key. Baylor Athletics have been on the rise for 10-15 years, and it's not just students and alumni filling the stadium. Unfortunately, though Denton is also a college town, unlike Baylor we are too close to too many more entertainment options. And we're not in a major conference, so to the casual college student, apparently the high stakes aren't there for us. In the past, the free semester of tuition handout has resulted in great student attendance (although I think this was during the CBI run). Can the athletic department work with our other big programs (music, art, film)? Showcase campus bands, art projects in the concourse before and during games, pregame film festival, halftime performance by the UNT Improv Club? To get the non-sports fans to some games? What happened to music students performing the national anthem? I know the ticket sales department is supposed to be selling halftime performances, but I don't see dog shows drawing in any more people (especially when there's no pre-promotion of it on social media). Others have mentioned that RA's need to be getting their floors to the game. But there's not as much pride in the dorm floor you live in compared to the frat or sorority you're in (referencing Greek Week). What incentivizes a dorm floor to have more presence than another floor? When I was a freshman at Kerr Hall, my only complaint (besides the S'mores flood) was the scarcity of laundry machines. Maybe the university can spare each week's winning floor some extra flex dollars (if those are still a thing)? And if the RA's are leading the charge, I'll reiterate what I said in another thread about starting parade lines from Kerr/Greene Hall and Bruce Hall to build up the hype and anticipation to the Pit. Also, I think digital ticketing has also hurt in another small way. There's no more ticket trailer on the library mall during passing periods. The casual student doesn't know games are usually Thursdays and Saturdays, or that they technically already have tickets for the game (as long as they're signed up for the student ticket app). I think we need to have that ticket trailer presence throughout the week for basketball season. Going back to my thesis, if you can get more students involved and interested, that of course increases the likelihood they return as alumni, especially if the team is good and getting national attention. As for the local community, we need to get all of the local club teams and high school teams out here to see that UNT is the real deal. And not just the Denton teams, but reach out to the surrounding smaller towns -- they love getting attention too. This may be too minor-league, but if you're looking to fill seats, can we get our hands on a mailing list and send vouchers good for 4 free tickets to every residence in Denton? Like the circus does?
  15. You can't say enough great things about Grant and the players, but I want to give a shoutout to the fans who made the trip. Not far removed from a 15-0 Tech run (with four triples, I think?) we were loud as soon as we ended the run with a 3 of our own to make the score 48-34. Every defensive stop, forced turnover, score, we made our presence felt. Even right after the turnover that led to the easy dunk and only FG for Tech in the last 10 minutes, which blew the roof off the place, Thomas Bell got those two points back only 25 seconds later. I think the crowd was a huge boost for the team, because I saw a few heads hanging after going down 17. Meanwhile, I keep replaying the Perry shot. I've heard good things about the commentator but I'd like to hear what our flock sounded like after the make. What a road trip.
  16. First basketball game not at the Pit or Star for me. LFG!!!
  17. Another great start. 11-4 good guys at the first media break.
  18. I'm trying to convince my wife to make this weekend trip work by me and my best friend going to the game and her and her best friend going antiquing in Ruston.
  19. Rice has been holding their own after we embarrassed them.
  20. They need to do two separate parade lines before each game and absorb every student pedestrian and get them to the game. Start one parade line at Kerr, pick up residents at Greene, Maple, Clark, Honors, and Rawlins. Start the other at Bruce and pick up residents at West, Traditions, and Santa Fe.
  21. I don't want to overlook anybody, but we should have 20 wins before the conference tournament. Hopefully the students make the trip out on a Saturday. When is Greek Week?
  22. My sister goes to UTA and was in the marching band for three years. Every time she said she'd have to perform in the homecoming parade, I was like, homecoming for what!?
