  1. I’m confident Russ Hodges will not go to UK.🤣
  2. Historically, no doubt Arkansas is a much better job, but past 15-20 years…it’s much more debatable. Fan support is not debatable. Not even close.
  3. USC—>SMU Arkansas—>USC Kentucky—>Arkansas Is it just me or are all of these a little weird? They all seem like a downgrade as far as basketball jobs go, though I guess you could argue Arkansas to USC is lateral.
  4. Some of those dudes look like the could still play and some of them look like…me🤣😩
  5. He deserves to be the starter if he beats out Chandler Morris.
  6. I’m pretty anti-Alabama in any sport, but I have to admit, they were a fun team to watch.
  7. We had players transfer in from Ole Miss, OU, TCU, and UTSA. Players transfer in all different directions, but for different reasons. There are only so many roster spots available, so “the big boys” can’t be the only ones taking players. Are they taking our good players and we’re taking lesser players from them? Sure, but I think most of us were happy with the play we got from our transfers from the schools I mentioned above. I’m not defending the portal because I absolutely hate it, but to act like it’s a one way street of robbery is disingenuous. The portal gives and takes…for all teams, not just NT.
  8. We’d also have to compensate schools for players that transfer TO North Texas? It’s a wash. Schools are no more “stealing” players from us than we are from them. It’s not robbery, it’s musical chairs.
  9. This guy is the poster child of the portal era: UMass—>Hill College—>nUTSAk—>UNT—>???
  10. NC St, Purdue, and UConn are not the schools I think of when I hear “money almost always dictates the winners.”
  11. St. Joseph’s would disagree.
  12. I get the sentiment, but this really isn’t true. Players transfer in all different directions and for many different reasons. We have a player from OU and a player from Ole Miss, should we be paying them? It’s a messed up system right now, but it’s not a farm system.
  13. I agree with all of this. I saw an interview with #14, Casey Morsell, for NC St. after, I believe, their 2nd win in the ACC tournament. I don’t remember exactly what he said, but it made me think that they weren’t a fluke…and more importantly, they didn’t think they were a fluke. They knew they were good and they expected to win. But… I had them losing to Tech in the 1st round.
  14. I agree that it’s “Duh”, but it seemed that you and greenminer were justifying the reason they got paid. I thought you guys were saying that they earned the money.
  15. I’m honestly speaking in ignorance, but I always assumed a big issue with NIL was that the pay wasn’t commensurate to the work being done. Is there someone “in the know” who could debunk that theory?
  16. This is possibly the most damning long term consequence of the NIL/Portal era. As I was watching the NCAA Tournament and seeing former players in the stands it struck me that you won’t see that in a few years. There are an unlimited number of people you could list, but for example, where does Tylor Perry go, UNT or KSU. As much as he was liked here, it would seem odd if he were in the stands when we play in the NCAA Tournament next year.😉

College athletics is free agency on steroids.
  18. I could go with either of these. It’s really Bear and Saban and then argue over the other two spots. Also, surprised to see no mention of Urban Meyer. He was elite at both Florida and Ohio St.
  19. I also argue that coaching is a career, playing college football is not. To me that’s a huge difference.
  20. We were 8 deep which I have to think is about like most teams. I don’t understand the “we lacked depth” comments. *edit to say you could argue we were 9 deep considering Stone filled in lots of minutes when we had injuries.
  21. 5 NCAA Tournament appearances in 11 years at USC? The alleged great recruiting obviously doesn’t pay off.
  22. I’m hearing rumors that aTm Commerce is headed to the WAC and Austin College will replace them in the Southland.
  23. I hope my previous post wasn't taken as complaining. Though it is negative towards UNT to some degree, my main point was to take a shot at the mighty SEC. Seton Hall is very good when they are playing well. I don't think they played well today because they were playing an inferior opponent, I think they had one of those games where they played well and things just seemed to go their way. Add to that playing at home in the small gym and they had an even greater advantage than normal. They are a legitimate Sweet 16/Elite 8 type team when they play like they did today and we hung with them for a while. The run to end the first half was big and then early in the 2nd half we had chances to cut the lead to 4 points and we just couldn't get a key shot to fall. After that it just seemed to go downhill, though I don't think we ever stopped competing. People who know basketball nationally recognize that we have a good program. It just takes time and few breaks to become a national brand.
