  1. I showed up towards end of the 1st quarter. when the game was already 14-0, so that was fun knowing what we were walking into. Parked in the lot across where old fouts was and didn't have issues finding parking there. From reading folks experience in the blue lot.. yeah I will not poor salt in the wound..

We bought tickets at the ticket booth by the wing, there were lines and a lot of people waited in line at the SMU will call one only to find a SMU rep working that booth to tell them they are in wrong line. Not sure I can have an opinion as that my be the norm for how these things are done, but I there definitely would have been a more customer service friendly experience if they just had a way to just sell tickets in all lines. But shame on me for not buying them on my phone.

Walked around stadium, there seemed to be lines everywhere for food and drinks. During the game, my buddy and I went to grab ourselves some beers and the wives some wine. Saw the Wing Pub, and I am glad I asked the yellow shirts security if we can take the alcohol out to our seats before walking in and buying, because I would have been mad that I had purchased all that. Maybe I missed a sign or something, but I just dont understand why that rule.  Luckily I realized one of the free standing beer vendors had mini boxed wines, so we purchased that all there. They did not have water for purchase, so I went to one of the concessions to buy 2 bottles of water and they didn't have cash to pay me the $5 in change I should have received. I just told them to not worry about it.

The PA system is atrocious, there were times it would make loud hissing noises that was ear piercing. I have heard better sounding systems at small town high school stadiums.

Didn't have any issues leaving the stadium, but I left after it was apparent UNT was not going to be able to come back for a win in the 3rd quarter. Pretty much most of the stadium was vacating at that point anyways..

Wish I could have seen the store, to see what you all are talking about. But maybe it is better that way as it just would have made me disappointed. It is hard enough to buy gear, so the stadium store is missing a big opportunity to make sales for people who don't want to buy their gear on on some sports apparel site for once.

After reading all of the less than happy people on the game day experience is just concerning. Everyone knows that the culture behind football at UNT is an uphill battle to build. So I really hope they take your feedback seriously, because making it difficult to go to a game is going to hurt attendance. But getting steamrolled by a future conference rival and one that shares the metroplex with us on top of crap customer service. Why would someone choose to go through that?

Yes if you see my previous posts, they did carry NT gear when they opened. They still had some last year, but if it didn't sell corporate may have axed it.

Yeah saw it after you posted it and thanks for the insight. Hard to argue if this is indeed the truth, as a business runs by profit. Another thing you make me ponder on is how tough it is to even buy NT gear if you're not in the city of Denton. There is no options but Rally House and pay $80 for a polo shirt or $35 for a cotton T shirt..

I ended up just buying a polo for much cheaper online at some sports website for half the charge of Rally.. May check out Sams or Walmart while in Denton tomorrow to see what they have. Unless that got axed too.

When we started 4-0 and Beat Arkansas we came home to a near sellout crowd against La Tech. (Maybe the largest crowd we’ve had). We were a few hundred away.

And what did we do? We got beat. Didn’t capitalize. I say had we won, gone to 5-0. We would’ve been ranked. Then the crowds would’ve kept coming had we kept winning.

That’s the “sleeping giant” that gets thrown around. But we’ve never crossed the line. Coastal Carolina is probably at their ceiling given their location, size etc. they don’t have the capacity we have. We just never fill our capacity because every time we get close, we crap the bed.

This, this, this, and this. 2013 was another example of this.. Held our own against Georgia for the first half of the game, Beat Rice/La Tech when they were the conference top dogs, even the game with Ball State we were supposed to lose we won. Then UTSA comes to Denton and we lost.. And the crazy thing is, I think that season was the last time we won a bowl game.. Which SL was not our coach.

The sleeping giant almost wakes up, but then rolls over and goes into a deep sleep.

  4. Every fanbase has it's bad apples.. I remember being a student witnessing parents and small kids come sit in the student section at Apogee and quickly getting up after the Bull Sh*t chant to the refs. But to the original post, I agree SMU can be a draining experience, which is too bad because being as unbiased as possible, they do have a beautiful campus.

SMU fans, which mostly look like the students that get rowdy are the one's you get called the letter "C" followed by UNT and getting cussed out. I even went to a University of Houston vs SMU in Dallas game just to watch some football a couple years ago and witnessed SMU college age fans run to the side of the stadium where UH would go into the locker rooms so they could flip off all the players and tell them 4 letter words. Sexually harrassing cheerleaders is pretty embarassing too..

I have never seen something like that at UNT. EVER. And I have sat many times in the student section in my days of going to our home games.

  5. Is ACC a possibility? I haven't seen that Pitt or Virginia have their non conference opponent scheduled or that they have a game scheduled on 9/12.

"All 15 conference schools will play an 11-game schedule, with 10 games against ACC opponents and one versus a non-conference program."

  6. If I am Mike L, I am staying in Pac12. SEC is a chop off heads conference if you aren't consistently winning more than 9 or 10 games it seems like. being Washington St's punching bag is better than being Alabama or LSU's. Plus somebody already said it.. Washington's coach resigned, so maybe that makes the top spot up for grabs in that state.

Arkansas does need to hire a well known and sought after coach though.. Still don't understand the Chad Morris hire. You're in the SEC, you can do better..

OK so I know it may not be everyone's first choice but I think he is a guy we should strongly consider bringing on board in come capacity.

Let's face it, Seth is calling the plays.  This is his career and his livelihood.  Everyone coming here knows he was an OC.

What Wilson brings is something we DESPERATELY need and that is he is an outstanding recruiter.

If you look at the elite G5 programs they have one thing in common - they can recruit at a high level.   I think recruiting ability should be a key component of whomever we hire.  EVERY coach on this staff needs to be able to help us in recruiting.

If you don't have the players, it doesn't matter who your OC and DC is.

This catches my attention, I have seen it and you all have too. How many times have we seen this past season where we are undersized to our opponent? And we're talking CUSA or AAC opponents.

Recruit us a O-line that can protect the QB, I don't want to see a blood bath when the QB is running around for his life out there.

Are those opponent records as of the time we played them or at the end of the year?

The last time we won a conference championship was 15 years ago. And we're debating on what our opponents records are during the season to defend our overall record...

  9. unable to adapt when something does not work and sticking with consistency is killing this year. In the offseason, we know what issues we are facing coming into next year. We knew the O-line was struggling, defense was not on par, etc, etc. This year, we get doubled up on in our final scores. I'm sorry, but when something is broke.. You fix it. It's hard to defend SL's ability to do right now.

Also, is it on anyone else's mind what we're going to do when Fine graduates? I am worried thinking about it. Is UNT going to follow the SMU model of transfers or are we going to stick with developing recruits out of HS. Because what we're doing right now does not advertise well to recruits..

nope, WB should not have given him the extension and raise year, chokes a golden chance at an 11 win season and then completely no shows in bowl game against a team without a true coaching staff, but hey we are UNT won 9 games against sub-500 teams choked leads in 3 games and then sh*t the bed again in a Bowl Game. That sounds like a great time to give a coach flirting with other schools a raise and extension.

VERY good point. No bowl wins, no CUSA championship wins, get blown out on national attention games... consistency is dangerous.. Seth has been here for 4 years and now we're nose diving. Kudos to him for the 9 win seasons, but I don't think it's asking for the moon and stars to require a coach to get us a conference championship trophy...and/or compete/win in post regular season games..

  11. How is he going to change the scoreboard? It's one thing to lose by a touchdown. but when a team has almost double your score.. It makes us look like we're playing a body bag game in our own conference. And we clearly can't play a AAC team and not suffer the same situation either..

He’s got more at his disposal than any NT coach has ever had and has no Bowl wins and no conference titles.

This is what bugs me the most.. when's the last time UNT won a conference championship? Every coach should have the ultimate goal of bringing home the trophy and winning championship games. Happy Seth has brought us 9-4 years, but he needs to start showing we can compete for 1st place..

Well swell. I would much prefer to watch a replay on my 55" TV........like a real College program.

Get a chromecast or roku and you be able to watch on your TV. Not sure how old your tv is, but most tv's nowadays have this casting feature off your phone built in the tv itself. I just accept it as the future of watching sports.

Facebook Watch is an app you can download on smart tv. Pretty much as easy as using a any other streaming service,

I get it though.. I wish I could flip on local channel and ESPN and watch a local team.. Instead of some big wig football program who nobody cares for in the DFW area.. But it is what it is I guess...

  14. I gave myself 48 hours to stay away from anything UNT football related. I just needed to heal the wounds up before diving back into it. I'm with the majority, I'll ride out this roller coaster through the ups and downs in this program..

This one hurt though.. This game reminded me of #olddenton for sure. We never play well at Ford, but come on.. This one was torture and the kind of torture where they let you die slow. The whole time I sat there and hoped... hoped.. hoped.. And the harder I hoped, the worst it got.

Unless they put a showing against Cal, which I think we can all be fearful there is a chance we're going to become a cupcake in this game.. We aren't going to sell out vs Houston after getting manhandled by SMU and we are going to get picked apart by the Houston offense if this team doesn't change.

It still hurts, but I will still be around through good and bad no matter what. Saying my prayers for the Cal game.
