  1. Who are you arguing with? I was there I just know the reality.
  2. Thanks to everyone who made it out to the early tailgate. Better attended than I expected. @untcampbell how did your BBQ go? I heard it was a bit breezy your way.
  3. It could have been 3500-4000 easily. I know the truth will upset some. 6000 would have been a very generous count. I am not sure who to get mad at; I hope the money is good. Anyone who has gone to the games for the last 20-plus years knows better. Knowing your audience, customers, and fanbase is essential. Preaching to them won't help. It might be a bit different if the game was for a championship or an undefeated season. If the game had been at 5:00 pm yesterday, there probably would have been another 10-12k there. I have to figure this kind of early game kills the concession stands and others.
  4. I needed that, I know we have miles to go. But damn that did the trick to help my outlook on life. I had a guest in from Mexico and it was his first in-person football game to see. I had a big smile all day and I woke up with a smile this morning. smile
  5. Those on the top of the scoreboard looking North could have had a hell of a photo of the B-52 coming in over the Tail of the stadium.
  6. I got this with my iPhone. I wish I had my Nikon with me. But I was pretty late even with my cell phone.
  7. I was sitting there with my thumb up my A$$ thinking about the eclipse, and I forgot about the B-52 until it was too late to get a good photo or video. Even with the announcement, I did not get my phone out and up in time. I would love to see some posted. I want to send some to my pilot friends.
  8. Only to be that young again. One of the old fat guys behind the goalposts.
  9. Cool photos I like that my group is in the middle photo
  10. If there were much over 6000 actual people in the stadium, I would be very surprised.
  11. I don't know but the light does get weird. Full and mostly full Solar eclipses are pretty rare I wonder if there has ever been a college football game in one before.
  12. Our Tailgate begins at 8:30 a.m. Exact location, as always. Blue lot northwest corner closest to the Stadium. We will be wrapping up Tailgate by 10:30 a.m. Bring your favorite Drink. Victor, Amanda, and Lauren plan to have Early Win Breakfast Casserole, Amanda’s Famous Mean Green Jell-O Shots, and their holy cow; this is too early Bloody Marys and Mimosas. John has cookies and a yet-to-be-determined Eclipse food. I will have Spicy Balls. Maybe they would be good eclipse food? https://meangreensports.com/sports/2018/7/31/gamedayparking
  13. I wonder if the eclipse will affect the passing game. The light can get a little weird.
  14. If my math is correct, we held Navy to 406 yards. I think our defense may be improving. I was betting way past 500. Nice to see.
  15. I think Labor Day weekend and the predicted 106 degrees in the shade was part of it and to your point, we were a pretty bad team last year when it counted.
  16. At the Cal game tailgate, I was talking to a Fraternity Brother who I started tailgating with and realized that Holy Shit I have been tailgating North Texas football games now for 22 years; how in the hell can I be this old?
  17. Is it? I wonder. I keep reading that live TV bundles, whether cable, satellite, or YouTube TV, ratings are dropping like rocks and that Baby Boomers are the generation watching the most of this. I heard this is what spawned the Golden Bachelor. The younger the generation, the less amount of "Live TV/Cable TV like" there is and the more on-demand streaming there is. More of an à la carte choice seems to be the most common. I have the ESPN package app that works on my ROKU and, in most cases, pretty great resolution. Now, some broadcasts need much better announcers and better camera work. I turn the ESPN subscription off for months when I am not watching any sports they offer.
  18. I have not seen this much rain in a while. Hopefully, Denton is getting some of this. I would like to see some grass on our tailgate area.
  19. August - First half of September - 7:00 p.m. 2nd half of September - End of October - 6:00 p.m. November not before 4:00 p.m. December 3:00 p.m.
  20. I am not sure about the students now. I hear stories of Friday nights being an all-night video game play night and sleep-in to noon on Saturdays. But I know plenty of alumni prioritize our games differently than other schools. Something like Kiddo sports, home chores early in the day, and then going to North Texas Football. The actual number of butts in seats can differ quite a bit, in my experience. The difference in announced may not be as much. The hard part about an 11:00 a.m. game is most try to start wrapping up their tailgates about an hour before the game starts. To get others out to tailgate even for an hour means 9:00 a.m., and most of the casual fans are not doing that.
  21. I have the ESPN app on my ROKU it used to show a plus Section but now I don't remember seeing it as separate.
  22. ESPN U has like a Hundred channels are they not all national regardless of time? Or is this one guaranteed to be carried nationally on cable TV outlets?
