Could have won in regulation if Davis would have drove into the lane.
Exactly zero persons in that arena, much less on the court, were convinced he wasn't going to take a shot. So he waits at the 3 line only to get double-teamed and shot an incredibly poor shot. Davis's decision making is the biggest factor in that loss IMO

An absolute collapse in real time. My goodness FAU needed to do better here.

Ya know what no one is going to remember 5 years from now? The teams that opted out. They'll remember the champion, and maybe the ones that were selected (if they look it up). Ain't nobody gonna go looking for why UNT ended up getting to the NIT after having the NET that we do, and winning it the previous year and think, "huh, I guess those 'bigger' programs just didn't care..."

Impressive win and crowd. Our next game is the one that counts though.
Again, pretty sure they all count, dude.

HUGE difference within the comparison you attempt to sarcastically throw out there....people in Dallas actually care about and claim the "Arlington Cowboys" as their own.
You missed the point of my retort to your original stance which was backing up:

..which was wholly geographical. If HP isn't within the radius you would call "Dallas" then you're definitely going to need to change it to the Arlington Cowboys.
Again, just pick a better reason to talk smack to them. Where they're campus is physically located is lame, dude.- 1

These people would all like a word...and I'm pretty sure they would have each brought more fans to the pit.
Listen, we get it. We want to rag on SMU. But there are PLENTY of other reasons to do so than nitpicking about where they're physically located. How much closer to Dallas do you want them to be? And what are your arbitrary Dallas boundary lines?
I guess they're they Arlington Cowboys now...- 2

My favorite may be "Don't know anything about North Texas but their record...….THEY DID WELL IN THE NIT LAST YEAR."
I literally LOLed at that line because, if I recall, it was clearly after an edit when he OBVIOUSLY looked up how we did.

Would have been hilarious for Memphis to lose, but again I want them to be ranked when they come to Denton. Glad FAU stayed in the rankings this week as well.
I really would've thought that FAU would've dropped out, but good to see there's a little more faith in AAC teams than there would've been in CUSA.
Memphis played great down the stretch with UTSA just making too many mistakes. Shots weren't dropping well for Memphis but they got the job done.

Sunday morning follow-up: There is no mention of our game yesterday on the front page of the sports section. Not even a sentence or a score listing. If you weren't looking for us or didn't know we played. Just like they like it, out of sight out of mind. But hey, Pop Issacs scored 21 to help TT beat UT (Lubbock and Austin).
....just reviewed entire epaper from DMN. There is NO summary or mention of our game yesterday. However, TCU, Tx A&M, UH, Baylor, Kansas St and OU have their summaries.
This is upsetting. I'm not in the DFW area, but the DMN has to know that there's so much more of a market for UNT scores and summaries than there are for OU or especially Kansas State. Give me a break. No wonder folks don't follow local news by newspaper anymore.

I doubt this isn't going to be as close as it looks at first glance. On paper Tulane has some wins with big points spreads, but almost all have been SUPER cupcake games (excepting Cal and Rice) -7.5 seems about right although the line is now -5 UNT.

Definitely in the D to C+ range. Close loses to LSU, St. John's, and Boise St. which all should've been wins, but then inexplicable losses to Fordham and Miss. State. Tough to swallow how the season has progressed so far.

Sliding down a rabbit hole here, but this crap would be easier to swallow if this unregulated mess were more like soccer.
Imagine every high school player in football and basketball signed a four year contract. Say $30,000 a year.
Freshman year kid is AAC or Sun Belt player of the year. Texas Tech, OkSt, UCF want the kid. He wants to leave. UCF is offering $100,000 a year for the remaining three years. Has to pay 10% of the deal to buy his release. $30,000.
Only played a year but buyout means played at no cost.
Or maybe stud player from Plano gets $250,000 a year from Texas. He’s good not that good. Texas is stuck with him and he’s stuck on the bench but he likes coaches at UNT. Green say we will pay $75,000 a year. Texas is on the hook for $175,000 but Texas has leverage too. They tell him agree to cut salary to $100,000 and we will make up difference. Kid says nah make it $150,000 and we have a deal so kid is playing at UNT for $150,000 school only pays half.
Meanwhile Arkansas offers a kid $50,000 because he’s a project. AState offers him that as well because he’s quality depth if nothing else. Hogs like what they see when he’s on campus but he’s a couple years from SEC ready. Hogs tell him we want you to get experience in games. Shop him around and agree to loan him to AState for a year at $15,000 Hogs pay the rest.
Being able to profit from identifying talent and developing that talent changes the Charlie Brown I got a rock in my Halloween sack nature of how it works now.
The trouble with the player loan system like in Euro soccer is it completely ignores the kids' educations. As much as the portal and NIL have shifted the college football landscape, they still get to choose where they want to attend classes. Alabama shouldn't be able to treat the kids like a bought-and-paid-for product that can be sent wherever Alabama thinks they want to send him. Also, if he transfers, does he transfer from Alabama or the school he played for last season?
I'm very much for a promotion and relegation model for college football, but loaning players isn't the answer.15 hours ago, tmjerm said:*you’re. To me, the guy is obnoxious. But if he somehow has this magic connection with recruits I’m good with it. What an annoying era of CFB, jeez.
In fairness, his job is to appeal toward 18-year olds who think they're hot shit.

I wouldn't be surprised if we have more of a learning curve than we all wanted to see. Hodge is billed as a great defensive mind, but he has to enable his offenses to get things going, and that's going to take some adjustments to his game strategies. I see us likely shooting for the 20-win season with decent conference tournament performance, but not making a postseason tourney. Next year, when Scott, Jones, and the rest of this crew are more mature and Hodge makes offseason adjustments, we'll see some good progress and compete for the conference again.
In sum: too early to judge Hodge, but still very optimistic.
