  1. Way too tough to say even before spring ball.

    1) Is Morris actually going to be here in the summer? If not, who the hell is our QB? If he does make it, is he anywhere near what Rogers was last year?

    2) We have minimal depth on the DL and a questionable LB corps. Only way to go is up, but if it's not a pretty substantial jump, we're still gonna be losing tight games.

    3) What do our post spring transfers out/in look like?

    4) Do the new coaches (particularly Odom and Leftwich) make a big difference?

There are way too many unknowns on a team with 50 new guys on it.

I love how his sound has changed ever-so-slightly over the years (as any artist grows), but he certainly hasn't sold out to any kind of pop sound, when I bet he's been approached with big checks quite a bit to do so.

And now, his style is an influence on pop sound.

Agreed. His delivery and lyricism have always been unique and creative, but he's on another level now.

    Worried Scale of 1-10:
1, being - Mason Fine returning with Guyton, Bussey, Darden, & Graham Harrell as OC.
10, being - We're starting Greer with McNulty backing him up in Chico's offense.

    I'm at a solid 8.5 right now.

Put me at a 3 on that scale. Morris is so good at scheming up plays to get guys open I trust him way more in this space. Even with Earle I think we'll have a good offense. He got rocked in the first game and it probably threw his confidence.

I agree, but McCollum is enrolling in January, by all accounts is a smart dude, and is already 6'4" 220. It's not ideal, but part of me isn't sure we won't be seeing him sooner than later.

Reminder that Morris started both Jon Copeland and Cam Ward(after coming from a triple option offense in HS) as true freshman at UIW. If Cash is the guy, I don't think he hesitates

That being said, I would like an experience QB to come in. We still have time.

Recruits need to remember this period.  If they haven't offered you yet, you weren't a priority and you probably never will be.

Unfortunately they don't seem to care. I wish I could count the number of commits we lost to some random P5 who offered at the last minute.

They see P5, they think NFL.

Morris had one good season at UIW. Kinne had a better season the following year without Cam Ward.

Almost like it took time for him to build his roster.....

We have way more resources here than he did at UIW. It may be another down year next year, especially if we're fielding a bunch of young players learning on the fly, but if he can use the portal well I imagine we'll be competitive.

I haven't gone to look at what's going on at TX St., but it does seem different.

Your example might actually be an exhibit of the point I'm trying to make if Kinne's guys are staying around.   If Kinne brought in a bunch of guys, and they all are staying... but the guys Morris brought in here are leaving... that would indicate those guys bought-into Kinne, but our guys did not buy-into Morris.

Could be. Based on JD's comments it seems a lot of the guys on offense thought they could get a bag based on how good the offense was this year

To me, it makes zero sense for an offensive player to want to leave this offense, UNLESS he thinks he's gonna get paid. If they're leaving because they didn't buy into Morris, the reasoning could be that he's sticking with Caponi and the defense is hot garbage and will continue to be hot garbage so why bother?

Either way next year we'll know we have a roster that was either A) was recruited by Littrell and genuinely wants to be at UNT or B) Wants to play for Morris.

I think y'all are onto something here, and that is concerning.

I'm sure all the players the Morris replaced at UIW probably didn't like him either, and then he built a roster that won multiple conference titles and a million dollar transfer QB.

It's still early. This roster is going to be filled with guys who want to be here and want to play for Morris. That's why Kinne was so successful at TX State this year. He went and got guys that actually want to play for him. This is no different IMO.

Assuming there aren't issues between him and others on the team, the coaching staff would be crazy not to want him back.  He demands so much attention as a deep threat that he opens opportunities for others all over the field.

No thanks. As good of a deep threat as Maclin was, he ran more than one route. I don't want any one trick ponies anymore. Shorter was successful because Aune had one trick and he had one trick, the just both happened to align.

"F*ck it go deep" isn't the philosophy that made our offense successful this year.

  10. I think the lack of great, hell even serviceable defensive personnel is severely understated. Who has lived up to their potential? Rod Brown and Ridge Texada are really the only two that come to mind (as far as returners). Our next best players could arguably be true freshmen Jayvon Anderson and Evan Jackson.

Mazin has all but disappeared after an all conference year last year - I don't blame him for this necessarily, the 3 man front has completely screwed his best tool - rushing the passer from outside the tackle. Our LB corps is laughable to mediocre at BEST, and the rest of the DL is pedestrian.

Look at the offers they're putting out: BIG DL that can plug and play in a 3 man front, and I suspect they're gonna go hunting for more DL and LB in the portal the minute it opens.

There have been moments in this defense that have bee disruptive and effective, I just don't think we have to personnel to do it consistently. I'm willing to give him him another year just for that. Plus, I don't think Morris is gonna fire him anyways.
