  1. Sad to say we lost to ULM in 2001 17-19. Then beat at 5-0 MUTS team 24-21. This starting the conference winning streak. I vividly remember getting on the bus to the air port and hearing rumors Coach Dickey would be fired. That's when he rallied the troops.
  2. UNT cooler. With the logo from my playing time there. It's a larger wooden one with the logo carved in.
  3. 12 Brand new teacher duplexes. Sign on bonus, retention bonus, matching annuity, well above base it goes on and on. As as for how far west......... Where the land is flat and the oil wells look like trees. Crane America!
  4. You guys ever wanna move west, make some $, let me know we're always looking for good folks and the benefits are well worth the move.
  5. In one of Tony Dungees books he talks about his thoughts on drafting to the NFL. He said they didn't worry too much about the combine. Their main thoughts were how did the athlete perform in college. If they were studs in college that transferred into the pros. I think a lot of kids get over looked because of size. On the other hand. NT can make them a lot stronger but speed is VERY difficult to develop.
  6. Good move Coach Littrell! Now I just have to get my name on the mailing list! GLORY TO THE GREEN & WHITE!
  7. I have read the majority of the BS on here. Most of which is crap. I have more invested in this football program than 90% of the couch potatoes on here. Sit behind your screen name, in your cubicle, read and post all you want. My opinion is just my opinion However my perspective is much more informed than most. Having played at UNT, been recruited at UNT, having been through some of the tough times and the glory days. There are people on this board I consider friends because of their unwavering support of UNT. I have coached high school for 12+ years and seen it from that side as well. So you just sit there and look at things through your little peephole at the program and criticize away.
  8. Good times and good days. At least that's how it ended. It wasn't always bowl games and conference championships. Chemistry is a huge thing with a head coach. He maybe the greatest thing since Dickey. As a former coach I can tell you I have seen it time and time again head coaches who "HAVE IT", have it. They can walk into any program and turn it around. One thing that I heard a while back is that successful D-1 head coaches look and act like politicians, they sell their program and give off a vibe that everyone loves. I see that in Littrell more so that Meachum or Briles.
  9. Reason I can't spell his name is because I have never heard of him. Much like most high school kids in Texas, who we will be recruiting.
  10. It's a bit of a stretch but I am afraid this is a comfortable hire for Rick V. Fedora was at S Miss and thus has ties to Rick. I mean really how did Luttrell even get on the radar???? I keep hearing this is the presidents hire but any ties to current ad scare me. Luttrell is not a coordinator. He's not associate head coach. He's the "assistant head coach for offense" everyone on the UNC has a blown up title.
  11. He's the kind of guy who would love a grass roots rebuilding job. I think it is DEFINATELY worth a call. I LOVE THIS COACH!!!
  12. "I don't know if it's the right decision to have Greer in there". Even the commentators know better. Good bye Canales.
  13. I think he should top the list. He not only has experience but has it within the conference. He is a Texas boy with ties deep in the state. He will bring a phenomenal OC and a great staff. He also has big name recognition.
  14. I once read that back in Bear Bryants hay day, one reason he was so successful was because he recruited all high school qbs. Knowing in that time that the best athlete on the team played Qb it made sense. He would then use these kids to play all the skill positions on his teams. Well ill that's happening again to a degree at Mississippi State and I think we should strongly consider going after one of their coaches. I'd say coordinator but I am not sure either would jump ship to come to UNT. Take a look at: Manny Diaz - likely too high profile Tony Hughes - establish & excellent recruiter Greg Knox - Sp Tm Coord Texas ties also (rosebud) All http://www.clarionledger.com/story/sports/college/mississippi-state/2014/10/22/mississippi-state-recruiting-philosophy-pays/17703623/ All in all a long shot but their recruiting philosophy is one we should lean to
  15. in deed he is. Home town of yours truely and Lincoln. He graduated with my brother and is top notch. Guy has a photographic memory and was on my original list. I actually tried to pull any strings I had to get dodge to hire him when they were all let go at Tech. I'll promise you this, if we don't hire him, we will look back at him like we do harbaugh one day.
  16. I'm with Houston Ealge. As an added must-fire the DC and bring in someone who's a great recruiter. There would have to be a certain number of staff changes made.
  17. Sterling Gilbert - Tulsa OC Texas Ties and Hard worker. Sterlin Gilbert was named to The University of Tulsa coaching staff on December 22, 2014. Garoppolo was a second round draft choice by the New England Patriots in the 2014 NFL Draft. Gilbert enjoyed a successful career as a high school coach in Texas before moving to Eastern Illinois. Prior to his EIU stint, Gilbert was the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at Temple High School, where the team advanced to the Texas Class 5A playoffs. Prior to joining the coaching staff at Temple High School, Gilbert was the head coach at San Angelo Lake View High School for three seasons (2008-10). Gilbert rebuilt a program that had won only three games in three years prior to his arrival to a team that won the 2008 Bi-District Championship and the school’s first playoff game in 12 years. He was named the West Texas High School Coach of the Year in 2008. Gilbert developed a name for himself as a prolific offensive coach at Abilene Cooper High School during the 2006 and 2007 seasons when he served as the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach. In 2006, Cooper was the state’s top passing offense in Class 3-5A with 3,172 yards, while in 2007 the team to the state playoffs. Gilbert’s first collegiate coaching experience was as a graduate assistant at the University of Houston in 2005 when the Cougars earned a trip to the Fort Worth Bowl. A Texas native, Gilbert was a two-time All-Lone Star Conference quarterback at Angelo State in 2000 and 2001, while serving as team captain both seasons. Gilbert earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with a minor in history from Angelo State in 2002. 19. love it!!! I garuntee Id make it better! I just want in on the hire. Give me the parameters and make sure we get an impact name id go big big big. All people can say is no.
  20. Recruiting is the name of the game. Kids want to play for someone they have heard of. They want to play for a name or some one who's trendy. That's how we start this thing. lets be honest dodge had the best recruiting class at north Texas but screwed it up hiring all high school coaches. Mack went 9-4 with that talent. Those kids knew dodge. Same thing is happening at SMU.
  21. Mean Green 13, that's the BS metality that got us in this situation in the first place. There is a way to get some one who has a bright future and can bring a culture change. If UNT wants to. Might give Jim Tressel a call he may want back in D-1.
