  1. Kinda goes against what most on here clamor for. Big names in OOC. I actually would be ok going 13-0 and playing no one. Exactly what USF did! You may be on to something....
  2. So, it goes back to that article that @NT93 posted. We just need to schedule nothing but 300 NET teams and be undefeated. Seems it is fools gold for the committee.
  3. Honestly, this is where Vito should ask the tough questions, but he is still worried about his parking pass.
  4. I know, I am blaming the coaching staff. Right now my point is that Stone should not be a scholarship player, but I don't know if the others should or not.
  5. This is my point too. I am not blaming Stone for not being good enough, I am blaming the coaching staff for wasting the scholarship on him.
  6. Yeah, I could understand that, but there were also very smart athletes that got degrees they could use in the real world. I am not saying it is not skewed towards money, but it is the players choice to realize at some point they aren't going to go to the NBA and make something of their free education.
  7. We don't know the full situation there, we just see the end result. I can't criticize them because we don't get to see them play. I can criticize Stone because I have seen him play. In other words, I don't know if they are worth their scholarships, I just know that Stone isn't.
  8. I think that's what my point is. If it were a bottom rung B12 team doing that, they would still have a better chance to make it to the big dance. And for the record, I didn't down vote you.
  9. Old days = before NIL. So for your logic, we should just give away scholarships to players that give our best players rest? I think if that's your standard, there are probably several walk ons that would be a warm body on the court for you.
  10. It was about the students when they played for an education, not for a job. I am a proponent of NIL for the record, just can't say it was never about the students and their education. That's the whole point of a scholarship.
  11. You say you support the students. And that is fine. College basketball isn't about the student athletes any longer. It is about who can spend more money to field the best team. That's NIL and the landscape. Just because Stone didn't get a "payout" doesn't mean he should be cut any slack. In fact, he is taking the spot for someone that could offer more. That's the point. Even if we go back to the old days where it was scholarships. Do you reward someone for underperforming because you want to "support" them?
  12. To me, why does league play diminish what they did in the earlier part of the year? Why can't it be the other side that maybe the teams in the American are stronger than people want to let on?
  13. 100%, I just posted something similar on another thread. I am not sure how the American is now looked down on. We had 2 ranked teams the first part of the season, now another team that was on no one's radar getting ranked, FAU beating Arizona earlier this season. If this was SEC or B12, they would still be getting 9 bids because the league is "so strong/difficult/insert adjective here."
  14. This actually made me think the other day. Why is there still not more respect here? I.e. more bids? I mean IMO, we have seen FAU beat Arizona, South Flordia go on a run through our whole conference, and several other teams just playing quality basketball, yet it seems we still aren't good enough to be included with the big boys. Just don't understand.
  15. NIL would beg to differ. Not sure what sport you played has anything to do with Stone's play, but I am sure you will tell me.
  16. It's kinda like when your Dad expects more out of you because he sees the potential. Does that sound familiar?
  17. Umm the stats would argue otherwise. PPG against a better conference dropped a little but still top 10 nationally. Where is Tech? I think we will be very close to 20 wins, so sounds like to your standards this is close to meeting expectations. I will agree that Hodge is not as animated as Grant. And I think he toned that down some because I remember last season he was in kids' faces as much as Grant. Your last point is what I have been saying for a few weeks now. Grant was 20-18 and CBI champ in his first year. We definitely have the opportunity to be pretty close to that.
  18. This is it right here. I think others have already pointed out the drop off TP has had against higher level competition this season. Don't get me wrong. He is still a baller, and has hit some clutch shots in some games, but IMO he isn't as dominant as he was against the CUSA.
  19. I look at it differently. Grant inherited a pretty bad program and I will say, yes, that effected recruiting, but in defense of Hodge, he lost most of the offense from last year and was able to replace a good part of that with a couple of players. I think JE replaces TP and CJ replaces Kai. Both to a certain extent. I also see that Grant went 20-18 in his first season. We are on track to be similar. Against mostly better competition. I think that counts for something. Lastly, there have been numerous opportunities in the last minutes of close games where the plays are there, but the players just don't execute. I won't belabor the point of losing the clutch of TP, but it can't be understated here. Most of the items you are saying are head coach related, other than maybe set plays sound to me like lack of execution. Not lack of plan. In fact, I would say with the talent we have, the game plan has kept us toe to toe with some good teams.
  20. Not at all, we have been in pretty much every game we lost. It has been said on here mutiple times, we are missing a closer. It does really come down to execution for these close games. The coach has put the players in the position to win games IMO. And really, when you are that close, in your first year as head coach, I feel pretty good about that situation. We have just gotten used to winning and that is a good thing, but if we look back at Grant's first year he was almost .500 at 20-18. We won the CBI, and look how that turned out. See above.
  21. Are you saying it is harder to get into the NIT than the NCAA tournament?
