Unfortunately, it was a busy spring (work and other activities) so I don't know what the deal is either. He seemed like a highly sought after OL. Hopefully he has a change of heart.

Hmmm That is interesting.  I wasn't aware he entered.  Must have seen the writing on the wall that he wouldn't be able to play here... Very weird.

I look forward to seeing him and Landon Sides on the field at the same time.

Also, if Shane Porter (#24 on the spring roster) is only playing running back for spring practice, then I assume he would be a slot receiver this fall. If he can catch as well as he can run with the ball, then we would have another Landon Sides out there.

Players like these have the ability to make just about any QB look good. Just get the ball in their hands.

Agree! It also allows for a much more high percentage throw instead of the vertical ball that is so prevalent in offenses like these.

I don’t like pulling a scholarship this late in the game for any reason other than character issues/criminal activity (if that is what happened). Yes we lost an entire top six but we also lost guys who literally never saw the court. I am sure there was room for a developing shooter. Give him Stone’s spot.

Does not necessarily mean we pulled it, he may have asked.  We don't have to release him from his NLI National Letter of Intent, but can choose to do so.

Well that’s actually much worse then.

Not necessarily, with the attrition we are facing they may have felt they needed more play ready now guys which I don't really disagree with.  This young man was going to need 2 maybe 3 years before he was ready to play championship level basketball in the AAC

    Defense was flying all

over the place.  No missed tackles.  Not sure how that really equates. Offense showed signs.

frosh QB threw 2 pick 6’s in the first half, and came back with 2 good TD drives in the 2nd half.  Looked pretty good.  Throws a good ball.  The picks were on out patterns, and were both good plays by the secondary.  Receivers won most of the jump balls which is good/bad depending on which side of the ball you are on….but they were covered well

I liked the format   Really only 2 Qb’s played   I didn’t see any injuries

    I give it a solid B

I guess you missed Texada completely whiff the RB in the 2nd quarter?

Move that to the PEB, Murchison or Auditorium Bldg.

I think it is one of those where there are thousands upon thousands of 6-18 year old teams competing all day everyday and need the size of the Pit to host it.  I could be wrong but I believe that is what was going on to prevent the possibility.

I would venture there are several people who are asking the same question.

I always thought the main function of "The Super Pit" was Basketball. Guess I was wrong. But you would THINK that after the last couple of years the Administration or whoever runs the facility would blank out the last week or two after BB season in case of post season play. But once again I'm wrong.

LSU had a massive size advantage which they exploited the first time we played them.  Not so much on Tuesday though.

They didn't see NIT Sissoko they saw non NIT Sissoko, a very different bball player.

Does it matter when we offer?  Is there a study showing that teams that offer first have more success landing a prospect?

To a percentage of kids it does, but the vast majority probably not.  Typically biggest offer is top of the list, when they have a bunch of P5 offers then it may matter which one offers first. A lot of kids realize where they want to go after they visit somewhere.

Quick look at his Twitter feed shows Tulsa, Northwestern, KSt, and Toledo offering. I still want to know how out of state programs are identifying and offering prospects 20 minutes from us quicker than our staff. Toledo? Really?

Some evaluations require more film study.  Why? A myriad of reasons but I know that to be the case.

All this back and forth about how we do with/out Rubin. How do you think we’d be doing with a serviceable backup PG? You think we would be sitting with 3-4 more wins? Competing for a 1 or 2 seed?  I suspect we’d be in a position for a T4 seed.

I think we may win 2 of the losses.  Giving Edwards/Buggs a few minutes of rest along the way, goes a long way down the stretch.  I liked the minutes he had Moore log in the first half. I thought it was exactly what we needed.

BS calls at the end that cost us a win. Refs took over when they shouldn't have.

Not boxing out on FT's again cost us a game.  That is the 3rd game a missed box out on FT resulted in 3 points in which we lost the game by that or less. Really want to see that cleaned up as it is unacceptable and a total lack of focus.

Kinda OT, but those 1980s-1990s Golden Hurricane squads were unreal.  I couldn't believe the coaches they went through.  One home run hire after another, for like 20 years.

Watching Tulsa and Bill Self come through El Paso was electric.  I think it was his last year in Tulsa when he took them to the E8.  30 win season.  I can only think of a few times where the atmosphere in the Haskins Center matched or exceeded that energy.  A ranked UNM squad, some of the NMSU games, and getting to see Bob Knight, who was widely known as best friend to Haskins.  They were hunting/fishing buds.

It's always been a dream of mine to see 10K people in The Super Pit.  I think a S16 run would light a fire in the Denton base.  The feeling is incredible.

Anyway, thanks for hearing my nostalgia lol

They've shown the ability to get a lot of people to the game vs SMU but they're going to need to apply the same effort and energy each home game to get that many people there.  I sat next to the crew who does ticketing our last home game and we started talking.  I asked them why they yelled at me to WAKE UP!! They got a kick out of it I told them the calls automatically get sent to voicemail as the University calls often for money and donations.  I said the Text IMO was the best way to engage.  Told them I really liked getting one a week out, then a few days before the game, then Game day as life gets busy and sometimes I forget about a game.  They took notes and said they really appreciated the Feedback.  All were fairly young adults starting their careers I told them being able to put on your resume you raised attendance from x numbers of fans per game to x numbers of fans it would be big for their next step in career.
