  1. Did you see his actual commitment post. May have himself in some legal troubles if he isn't careful with his behavior down there.
  2. Harry, please extend my families thankfulness to Ernie this was so fun for the boys. Also a big thanks to you as well for helping get everything set up and facilitated.
  3. To my knowledge they aren’t taking anymore RBs but I’ve been wrong before
  4. Agreed but I think they’re so engrained in finding the BEST shot that sometimes they pass up opportunities to put the ball in the basket
  5. He will get back going, he needs to remain a slashing, Bell type player slash cut catch the ball near the paint finish in paint and knock down the 3's when he's open and its kicked to him
  6. What makes you say this? I believe what Morris is doing is brilliant. It may cost him his job but if he can hold on long enough 1 maybe 2 more years he will have talent he would not ever be able to have at UNT playing for UNT. There are HS Kids we signed in my rough guestimation, close to 3/4 of this HS class that Pre-portal we could not land because 1/2 P5's would have come in late when they didn't get their guy and offer and steal the young man from us. Now, those same schools are just hammering the portal, making a bunch of these young men available and you have to fight off equal competition (other AAC or CUSA schools). I also really like it because Morris said something and is standing behind it right or wrong, we *itch and complain about kids not staying at UNT or Flipping commits etc etc. Morris said when he got hired he was going to recruit TX HS talent and he's doing it. I believe adding 10-12 portal guys is smart because he can address a few areas of need OL, QB, and the back end maybe a DL or 2. While adding elite talent from the HS level.
  7. Neither did Landon Sides he turned out to be just fine. This staff can identify and recruit offensive talent....its the other side of the ball that concerns me the most.
  8. Because Edwards isnt a PG...he's a shooting guard that wants to score 20 every night. Need a PG who can handle the ball and pressure and Moore is the next best ball handler we have. Everyone else who "Dribbles the ball up the court" isn't a PG just because they dribble the ball up the court. I am talking about a guy who can tell everyone to get out of the way and can handle the ball on their own. Not someone who keeps their man on their hip and takes 13 seconds to get the offense initiated. I would be shocked if Jones, and Scott are back the fact is they're going to have some $$ amounts thrown their way that will be unbelievable. Hell Scott had 150,000 offered last year alone and he's greatly improved his game IMO as far as being able to catch and shoot 3's
  9. We're better than Texas Tech 😎
  10. I can help both of them... drive the dang ball to the hoop see it go in a few times, buggs take the wide open 3's you get off dribble penetration from a team mate and lets do the dang thing! I was pleased with Jones, and Walker with how aggressive they were to the basket yesterday. Every guard should be following suit. I also enjoyed Aaron Scott finally getting back to being aggressive and looking to get his shot off the bounce. This team should push every team we play in conference IMO. The determining factors in how long we can stay in the competition will depend on 1. Rueben and the bigs staying out of foul trouble 2. How well we share the basketball offensively. I think when those things happen we are a tough out, because lets face it the defense hasn't even taken a step sideways I think they've progressed we are longer and more athletic. I would really like to see Moore used instead of Noland bringing the ball up the court when Jones comes out. Noland will struggle in conference play when Jones has to get a break. Moore must be behind defensively that is the only thing I can think of that is keeping him off the court. I would assume if you are Hodge you have to know Jones is gone after this year so get the young guy some minutes in non conference and see if he can earn more or if he isn't ready you know by conference play. That is my last head scratcher for this ball club. He really is the next PG but doesn't play much.
  11. So far a good pivot! Walker is an elite on ball defender. I’m not sure in all my years watching UNT we’ve had a better one. I’m fairly young but been watching since I started school in 2009
  12. Yes, I hope to see the same addressed. We seemed to drop 8 a lot and LBs running to places on field where no WR was within 10/15 yards I’d like to see guys when they turn to their zone with nothing threatening eyes back on QB for help with scramble drill. The other option which is prob better imo is to bring an extra person via pressure from any level Corner, Safety, or LB that’s what makes 3-3-5 so tough is pressure can come from anywhere on the field with multiple coverages matched behind those blitzes
  13. Defensively the DL wasn’t as big of an issue as everyone is making it out to be, linebackers and safeties have responsibilities in run game and they did a poor job of filling those roles. Only time I had a problem with 3 down was when teams got in 12 personnel and lined up in double tight and we had 3 guys on LOS and they had 7… I’m not the smartest guy but that allows all 3 DL to be double teamed with an extra to leave for a backer. I could see them grabbing one more DL if a GameChanger becomes available.
  14. If he is, I’d hope we can try and get him the help he needs.. I highly doubt he made it all that time at LSU without someone trying to get him help, but he’s back with his HS coach where to my knowledge he didn’t have issues.
  15. I’d do it exactly how he’s doing it understanding in a year or two maybe 3 after production those guys will probably enter portal. I’d probably have addressed DL a little harder via portal, but that’s their decision. The problem is with each room I don’t know what they have eligibility wise. You have to balance a roster you can’t have a DL room full of 9 seniors and 2 freshman then you’re stuck with what you can bring in. You’d like to have 2/3 in each class as far as eligibility 3 with 1 year left 3 with 2 years left, 3 with 3 years, and 2/3 with 4 years left that way you aren’t chasing your tail one year bc 6/7 young men out of the room graduate
  16. No such thing as falling through the cracks. Not in this day and age with twitter and instagram access to every coach in the country. What has changed is the recruiting landscape. The P5 will primarily LIVE in the world of the portal, and 4 and 5 star athletes. 5 star is basically predicting the kid is a 1st round NFL talent, 4 star is a chance to get drafted more or less. 3 star they just slap those ratings on guys like hot cakes because its easy and they're lazy. P5's used to drop from the 4 stars when they lost out on them or someone flipped them, would then come and raid a team like say North Texas who had some really good 3 stars committed and they'd offer and the kid would typically chase the bigger offer. Now that the portal is here instead of them trying to find a HS kid they just use a college kid who already has experience with college life, practice, academics etc. Now there is an abundance of kids like a majority of the ones we signed that lets face it prior to the portal UNT doesn't land 2/3 of the class.
  17. None of us have ever experienced this (I don't think) He went from being one of the top recruited, top ranked, the GUY at his HS to not sniffing the field. That can definitely do stuff to one's mindset. I have no clue about any of it other than from players I've had who weren't nearly as talented as him who went through the same thing being the guy in HS then get to college and for whatever reason don't crack the field. You go from football being everything and most of the reason people know who you are, to not playing. Harder on young men than one would think.
  18. Don't know if he's the top target..there are some really good QB's in the portal available. NIL will probably knock the top 1/2 of QBs out of our range due to the amount of $$ thrown their way.
  19. Any more info on him? I can do some digging but I've looked at so many names the last 48 hours I have no idea who is who
  20. Yeah everyone will be mad with this offer, but when you have a LS who is an issue then everyone wants to blame someone. Good for the staff for identifying this area of need and addressing it the best way they know how, with a scholarship for the young man.
  21. I believe we have 3 or 4 spots left based off Morris' comments in press conference that is after the new additions today. I bet it will be 1 QB and 3 DL or 2 QB and 2 DL
  22. Yessir. Not to take away from the HS Signees because they're going to be those dudes. This cat is SPECIAL, hard to play RB at LSU...I have no problems with this pick up at all.
  23. Patience. Trust them, they got some left I wouldn't be surprised if you see 2 and maybe a couple DL (I'm not sure how many we have left haven't done the math yet and don't know who is on scholly currently on roster)
  24. EWWWWWEEEEE LETS GO!!!! This dude TORCHED US IN HS one of the best HS Backs I coached or played against.
