  1. Sorry that some of ya'll had bad experiences at the game. Everyone I know is always very friendly to the traveling fanbase and we often invite them to tailgate with us. I got a chance to see Adam and talk to some other UNT fans who made the trip. I'm not a fan of the in game promotions either. In fact, I'm not a fan of them in any capacity. The Dome is an old buidling and is not the greatest facility for football at this time. Hopefully there will be a ton of improvements after the city proclaimed they will be dumping $50M into renovations for the Dome after winning the Final Four bid. Fans are fans...some of them are going to run their mouth on both sides before/after the game. It really can't be avoided. I know some of the UTSA players talk trash during the game but I really see no issue with that considering they are knee deep in competition. As much as the UTSA players talk during the game they leave all of it on the field. I was highly disappointed in Mason Y'Barro's comments in 2013 and Derek Thompson's tweet after the game on Saturday. The game is over...time to move on.
  2. Not much excitment for this game as we had last year. Both teams have been utterly disappointing. UTSA is not only returning their QB1 in Tucker Carter but our best offensive playmaker, RB Jarveon Williams, will return this Saturday after missing several games. I hope the offense can somehow come alive on senior day.
  3. I think La Tech does a 180 this year and could possible challenge for the West crown (top 4 teams). They have been consistently recruiting well, have one of the top RB's in CUSA and are well coached. It's a big advantage that you guys will see them at home this year.
  4. My thought is that if the stadium is away from downtown convention folks would still book the Alamodome so they are able to stay in the downtown touristy area. The AT&T Center (Spurs home) has really has not had an adverse affect on bookings at the Dome so I doubt an NFL Stadium would as well. The Spurs current home sits well outside the downtown area Yeah I'm sure all of Bexar county would be hit up to help pay for a stadium. The good news is that the San Antonio highway system is excellent (2 major loops, several interstates that cut between them) so its relatively easy to get anywhere in San Antonio or to the outskirts of San Antonio in 20 minutes or so.
  5. The Dome is still critical to the city of San Antonio. As I mentioned, I believe that the Raiders would build outside of San Antonio proper so the Alamodome is still a prime spot to draw in conventions and other revenue generating functions
  6. If (and a big "if") the Raiders ever land in San Antonio it would be a great thing for UTSA initially. The Raiders would have to use the Alamodome temporarily until a new stadium plan could be envisioned. Using the Dome would also pave the way for some much needed renovations making even a better home for UTSA once it's unoccupied. It's impossible to speculate on how attendance would be affected however San Antonians are ravenous about football and I think this city could support both teams. There is potential for several San Antonio investors to take some owning interest in an NFL Team. From what I understand, Graham Weston (Rackspace CEO) envisions a future where the San Antonio and Austin markets are merged with the constant development along the I-35 corridor. Many are speculation that the Raiders would look to build a stadium in the extreme north of San Antonio or just outside San Antonio I also don't see the team being called the San Antonio Raiders. I'm sure there would be a huge marketing push to change the team so that Texans would be more willing to embrace them.
  7. Like it or not, I'm fairly certain that UTSA and UNT will end up as each other's main rival. If you look at it from an outsider's perspective it actually makes a ton of sense. Both teams are already involved in a huge recruiting battle stemming from last year. UTSA beats UNT in Apogee and prevents them from moving on to the championship game. Shots are fired by the players after the game. You really can't write a better opening story than that.
  8. I'm sure UNT really wanted Block. He is a solid player and has a huge frame that will welcome some additional weight. I would never go so far to diminish the talent of a recruit just because he chooses another school. A team such as UNT would not simply throw out an offer to a guy without wanting him badly especially with the limited number of scholarships available. Players such as Block, Furquan Shorts, Clayton Woods and Andrew Martel have all picked UTSA over UNT for several different reasons as I'm sure there will be several recruits who pick North Texas over UTSA. UNT and UTSA will now and forever be challenging for the same recruits. It's time that we all accept that. I still have heartburn from losing Goree to UNT who is an exceptionally talented receiver
  9. Harry you are right about Soza being a difference maker but he had one weakness which was arm strength. Tucker Carter has a great arm and opens up the play book even more. Last year we relied on the short passing game, jet sweeps to keep our WRs involved but now we should be able to add a vertical passing game. UTSA is returning their entire WR corps, Oline and starting RB. The offense should be in good shape UTSA will be decimated by graduations in 2015 but it’s up to the coaching staff to bring in quality JUCO talent to plug holes left by the seniors. This year is definitely the year we want to make our first bowl appearance happen
  10. Congrats on the bowl bid UNT! I think you beat UNLV by a few TDs.
  11. He is also one of 16 finalsts for the William Campbell Trophy (aka the Academic Heisman)
  12. Not expecting necessarily just hopeful. We might be able to play Arizona better at home and possibly steal a win vs Houston (that game was back and forth until 4th quarter, 6 turnover swing)
  13. Unfortunately UTSA did not help with this stat going 1-3 in OOC play. We lost to very good bowl eligible teams (Oklahoma State, Arizona and Houston) and only beat New Mexico. Our OOC schedule is identical next year so hoping for 2-2
  14. 26K is disappointing to many of us but the game being the Saturday after Thanksgiving really hurt the student attendance. Additionally La Tech, with nothing to play for, did not travel at all. Still I think the average will be high enough to be 2nd behind ECU
  15. Correct. After the 2014 season we will go through a mass exodus similar to what happened to La Tech this season except we should be able to fill a full scholarship team
  16. Not really. We won our last 5 games and went 6-2 in conference play. The fans are all being appreciative of our 10 seniors and what they have meant to this team. Rice took care of business and will play a very good Marshall team
  17. Geez take it easy UNT90 and oldguystudent
  18. Congrats UNT. Heck of a talent Question: Do you think he has a chance to start and be a true freshman especially with Chancellor and Smith graduating?
  19. Simply meant that he probably made that statement because he was angry but likely regretted it today. This UTSA holds grudges and they have been talking about La Tech running up the score in 2012 all year. The defense will likely remember that comment next year when they all return as seniors
  20. CUSA confirmed the scenarios and its Rice unless they lose and UTSA wins. If both Rice and UTSA lose its Tulane. The worst case scenario should be if Tulane wins since they are leaving the division next year. The true nightmare scenario would be Tulane vs ECU. The new American conference mates would never let CUSA forget that.
  21. You should be able to see an impact from a guy like Goree. He is a stong UNT lean as I understand but has also been offered by UTSA. The Roadrunners already have a verbal from his QB. Both were supposed to be in attendance yesterday but my sources stated neither of the made it
  22. Sad to see that comment and I'm sure he wants to take it Back. I believe he is a junior? He will have his chance to play against the defense again next year since only 1 defensive starter for UTSA is graduating.
  23. I didn't know we had Derek Zoolander on our team? Bottom right
