  1. Actually, just looked this up on Wikipedia, here's the list: Alabama Airborne Arkansas Attack Florida Fusion Northwest Empire (Eugene, OR) Oklahoma Nation Ohio Union Texas Independence Utah Stand
  2. No kidding? Well I'll be damned. Anyone know what the 8 cities are? It's not loading up for me.
  3. Agreed. The movie was certainly enjoyable, but nowhere near being one of the best films of the year. Can't wait for the next one though. My top 3 would probably be (in no particular order): - Mad Max - Spotlight - Room And I'm also going to go with Leo for best actor, and Brie Larson for best actress. I've only yet to see Brooklyn, so maybe that list will change by the time I see the Oscars. And btw, am I the only person out there that didn't care for The Martian? I mean don't get me wrong, I love Matt Damon, and I really enjoyed watching him figure things out on Mars and his struggle with isolation and possible impending death, but I didn't care as much for the focus on the events happening on earth and I thought the humor in the film was too campy. Just my opinion though.
  4. Yeahhhhhh, fat chance of that happening with this type of league.
  5. I honestly keep forgetting that basketball season is even going on. I am usually within walking distance of the Super Pit yet feel almost no desire to go to a game. Firing Benford would at least get me a bit more excited, but right now there is just no hope.
  6. I can agree with most everyone here when it comes to paying college athletes, but I'm curious how some of yall fell about the rules barring student/athletes from being able to receive compensation for things like autographs or selling their own personal memorabilia. While I'm against schools paying the student/athletes themselves, I personally don't see a problem with them making money on their own autographs, or accepting sponsorships, being compensated for their likeness in video games, etc. Haven't really heard any argument against that before, curious to see how yall feel about it.
  7. Yeah to be fair I honestly couldn't remember one float that I saw at the parade. I just remember focusing on having enough beer to last through the entire thing, and fighting to catch beads that I promptly threw away as soon as the event was over.
  8. I'll definitely try to make it out to Eastside on the 6th, sounds like a good time. And just to give the captains a little info on my playing abilities... I think I went 0-4 in last year's game with a couple turnovers, but hey, stats are stats right?
  9. I'm about 60% sure that 78% of all made up statistics are correct about 24% of the time.
  10. Currently at the game. So as not to offend player's families I've made sure to keep my banter to strictly positive comments like "good try!" and "don't worry, you'll hit that layup next time!" But really, I'm completely silent. The game kinda sucks.
  11. As tempting as that is, I honestly just laughed it off because I thought it was ridiculous that she'd even give me the time of day because I didn't even mention his name out loud, only Canales'. Oh well, just someone who let their emotions get the best of them. I seriously do wish to never see him in a UNT uniform again though.
  12. So funny story, Josh Greer's sister actually confronted me and told me to "back the f**k off" because I was angry that Greer was in the game. I understand her being upset because it's her brother, but the worst I said was "why the hell would you put him in the game Canales?!". I hardly ever yell anything at games as it is, but good lord it pissed me off so much that coach Chico thought it'd be a good idea to randomly throw him in the game to toss a game changing pick-6. And to be clear, I'm not mad at Greer at all, the guy was simply doing as he was told, but the coach should have known better than to put him in the game. Maybe I should just stick to the student side from now on.
  13. That game was a lot of fun to be at. Loved the new lighting, plus our team looks like a talented bunch. I could do without the unnecessary amount of turnovers though, plus our play in the paint could use some improvement. It also seemed like we struggled at times against what was a poor full court press from Jarvis, resulting in several of the aforementioned turnovers. And to the group of fraternity brothers that were sitting in front of me, pleaseeeeeee come up with some better attempts at trash talking than what I heard last night, because "number 33 can't see.........and he has to pee!" and "hey number 21, do you know what 7 X 3 is? Yeah you don't, cause you're stupid!" just aren't cutting it.
  14. I've had a ton of conversations with one particular group of preachers, but they never were really that offensive. I've seen a couple guys like the one pictured above and I can't say it's not fun to watch with the types of reactions they're able to incite from students. Great response from Pres Smatresk though. Best just to ignore them. Preachers like that guy consider it a win to get reactions of any kind.
  15. I'll be there tonight along with the gf as long as work doesn't keep me too late. Looking forward to the season, plus I actually have been one to enjoy watching games against these tiny schools.
  16. I'll actually be able to make the game against Jarvis, so I'll show up. I honestly have no idea whether or not to look forward to this season.
  17. Absolutely not, but one can hope. And by hope, I mean simply assume the band will be there until I don't see them show up on the day of the game.
  18. Ehhh, doesn't look too good when you post a flyer about athletics in an academic building and then get some basic math incorrect. Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to the idea behind the flyer, but still.
  19. I don't mind this matchup. As was previously stated in this thread, it helps out a HBC, brings in an entertaining band, and gives us a very beatable opponent at home. I'll be looking forward to it personally.
  20. This has been one of the most entertaining reads in quite some time on this forum. Maybe I spend too much time on the internet myself, but it sure does amaze me how much some random comments on the internet can rile people up. The one shining light of UNT football just had to go ahead and join the rest of the team by embarrassing himself on twitter and having his dad post an angry comment on a forum. This is absolute gold.
  21. I would make it if I could. I figure it can't really get worse than my experience at the Portland game so I might as well keep going.
  22. This was easily the most embarrassing game I've ever been to. The UNT fans around me were laughing whenever Portland St scored and frankly I can't blame them after seeing the absolute horsesh*t performance that team/coaching staff put on today. Good lord that was depressing.
