Just a question...I get the event on the 26th at Dots (great idea), but why are you setting up an event to compete with UNT's official tailgate the morning of the game?  Should we not all tailgate together since this is a bowl game and not a regular season game where separate tailgates are the norm? Just asking.

    Ok... Wait... I missed this?

    Where is this one?

Alumni Event?  There will be an official UNT tailgate...you get free admission if you purchase your HOD Bowl tickets through the UNT ticket office.  Am sure the Alumni Assoc. Is participating in the official tailgate.  If you recall the last HOD Bowl tailgate it was in the Automobile Bldg at Fair Park...inside and warm...good breakfast tacos from Rudy's I believe...UNT band, cheer squad, Scrappy, etc. Tons of attendees and lots of fun.

Nevermind.  Got it.  ARE BOTH tailgates kid friendly?

Folks.  We are here because the HoD people wanted us.  They wanted us because of our huge turn out in the last bowl.  If we want them to lobby for us the next time there is more than one team wanting to go, we had better show up this time.

    • I know it's a rematch, show up anyway.
    • I know it's not a fun trip, show up anyway.
    • I know it's not a beach getaway, SHOW UP ANYWAY.

Buy tickets, buy extra, go to to the game, drag along other people.  The coaches and team did what they could to build for the future, we need to do the same.

Having a huge turnout for a 5-7 will not only impress HoD people.  The bowl world is small, other committees will learn about it.

    GOOD POST!!!

That's fine, I"m not a UNT fan to be liked. This post and all of your other posts were light years ahead of your first post.

I'll be here next year, ten years after that and til the day I die. I won't always be right but I'll always bleed green.

so what is  #19 going to do after college, I sure his passion will carry him far in life.

The plan is to go to firefighter academy.  ?  If anyone has any insight for him... It's welcome.

He is currently looking for a job for after the bowl and the spring semester, though.

Gonna miss seeing #19 out there. Hope you and your family can still make some games in the future. You know our tailgate is always open. Thanks for the insight over the years, Steph.

A.) I feel like it's been longer than 3 years.

B.) I am sorry that I introduced you to Chris.......really........sorry for that.

C.) We will always have New Orleans.

D.) You live really close to Denton so you better continue coming to the games. I am sure your brother will and thus by default you too :)

    ?

WHEN we do come next year...  you 2 guys will be the first to hear about it.   I have really enjoyed getting to know you both over the past couple of years.  Thanks for the laughs.  ??

Speaking of Celina, their QB intentionally hurt a defenders ankle in a game, and I think only got a one game suspension.

Like, he stood on the kid's ankle in a dog pile and jumped down on it.

    Hot, clown garbage.

It was a garbage act, but the Caddo kid did not get a broken leg and played the next week.

Pingleton was sat down for I think just two games. Classless, disgusting act, but no broken leg/ankle.

It was a Community HS player.  And yes... Was absolutely disgusting.  AND OBVIOUS.  There are a lot of nasty things that happen at the bottom of a pile (eye gouging... Etc. Use your imagination) but he legit put all of his weight on that kids foot.  Horrible.

also worthy of mention-  The officials didn't catch this and there was no flag thrown.   It was only brought to the attention of the school districts when someone had turned in the video.  Coaches claimed "didn't see it happen".

Correct, but years ago the average family didn't move every three years. The average person with a job averaged over 12 years with that job and now it's under 5.

It's soon to be 2017 - we can't turn back the clock to 1964.

     This is also correct but...

Southlake can also afford to move in a very economically disadvantage family into a $1.4 million home.

    And that's poop.

I'm glad I've gotten some of ya'lls attention.  But I'm thinking SOME of you have no idea how extremely bad it has gotten.

Yes, my suggestion is a nuclear bomb to kill a nat.  But it's a massive...GODZILLA size nat that needs addressing or it will never change.  And just like with No Pass and No Play....the UIL isn't going to regulate or enforce the ideas to fix it.  It'll have to come from the private sector pushing legislation I'm guessing?

    Rick

    Rick

Yep.  And because of the TRUE transfers (which are estimated at ummm... 10%?) they will NEVER change it.

Correct.  The PAPF form that is required to be filled out for any transferring 8th grader and up, that must be approved by each districts DEC(District Executive Committee) isn't cutting it for what ever reason.

DEC's like Denton'sand Odessa's  are considered strict by many standards.  Others are not.  It's not working so something more severe is needed.

Years ago you couldn't play varsity if you transferred in after your sophomore year.  In the least that needs to happen again.

Its a joke but it's no longer funny.

    Rick

    Yep.

It's a nuclear bomb to kill a nat. No family could buy a new house, get divorced or take a better job without their child suffering a consequence through no fault of their own. Putting aside any lawsuits, the UIL Legislative Council would never pass it. Any of them who voted in favor would be vilified in the the press and probably have to resign. I honestly doubt you could find a member willing to even propose something that draconian.

Perhaps one of the attorneys here could comment on the chances of that withstanding a lawsuit.

As I understand it, the local UIL  committee and later one in Austin both found that Dillman DID transfer for athletic purposes. I could be wrong on that one.

It's not a UIL  Committee that has authority in these matters.  It's the district committee that makes the final decision on whether or not it was a move related to extracurricular purposes...

And they did find that Dilman was transferred because of those reasons. Because... He did. Lol
