Same thing works in the professional world. Surely you'd understand to see what value you can get for yourself

Well, yes and no.  It depends on how much you're offered to leave and how much you like or dislike your current employer and job.  As a former EDSer, we used to say that EDS was the best first and third job you'll ever have, because everyone knew that the only way to get what you were worth was to leave.  But on the other hand, I've also worked in one place that I liked so much that I turned down an offer of %10-%15 more.  But when a person is young and underpaid, they're much more focused on the $$.

  2. That was a good game to watch.  Seton Hall was just a little quicker and more aggressive driving to the hoop.  That being said, the refs really let the game get too physical at times.  I've seen football running backs that couldn't stiff arm as well as some of the Hall guys did on drives.

I'm going to reverse this and say we need to be able to fill our current home when you have 40,000 on campus, not counting faculty and staff, 150,000 in Denton and over 200,000 alumni living in DFW.  Pack the Pit.

I know enrollment is up over 40,000, but do we really have 40,000 living on campus?  Or even coming to campus on a regular basis?  I say that because I know we have the unfortunate distinction of being known as a "commuter school".

What? Mac lost 7 of his last 8 games before we entered the CBI. We indicated we would participate in the CBI after an early contact before those losses. We probably would not have been invited to the CBI if they had waited until late Feb to make their contacts. I am sure there are others on this board who remember those facts.

In addition, the next year we lost 8 of our last 9.

The primary reason for the losing streak near the end of the 2018-19 season was an injury to Ryan Woolridge's knee.  He was out of the lineup for several of those games, and the games he was in were difficult to watch because it was obvious he was in pain.  But he was the team leader and the type of point guard that made the guys around him better.

  5. I would give this team a B to B+.  It was a big transition year after losing Perry and Ousmane, and of course a new head coach and staff.  The first 1/3 of any college basketball season involves a lot of experimentation by the coaches to try and find out which guys can fill which roles (unless you have all returning starters), and develop a rotation that can win.  Unfortunately for this team, the injury bug really screwed with the lineup rotation and a few guys had to fill roles they weren't quite ready for.  Hopefully they matured from that experience and will be better players for our team next year.

I know I’ll be in the minority here, but I disagree.  Looking only at the conference schedule, football finished 8th and lost close games to UTSA, Memphis, and Tulane.  No loses to anyone below us in the standings.  Basketball finished 7th with close loses to SMU, UAB (x2) and FAU (x2). Lost to one team below us in the standings.  Very similar seasons in my opinion.

What really made last year's football season suck was how much of our offense transferred away via the portal after the season ended.  But that seems to be how college sports are these days, so we have to deal with it.  I hope the basketball guys who can come back do so.

  7. I'm watching on TV, and they showed Scott after he came back to the bench from the tunnel, and he did not look good. It looked to me like he was holding his abdoman a few inches down from the sternum, but not low enough to be the appendix.

A lot of dumb fouls by our guys, but a lot of them were minimal. Look at the stat sheet, I don't remember a game that had so many starters in foul trouble all year.

Don't forget that loss at Boise State this season when Scott and Jones both fouled out and then we lost at the end.

Tulane has comfortably the cleanest unis in the conference...quite possibly the best fit in the country.

The wrought iron side panels are pretty cool.  And probably more practical than Mardi Gras beads!

Maybe it's because they can be drowned out easier because of the Maniacs, unlike my days as a student during Benford, but it seems like they used to talk more (and better) shit to the opponents back then.

But at least they weren't robbed of their seats and shoved in the tunnel like UTA's band..PXL_20240223_012824095.thumb.jpg.81364b086252c2815cb55f1e714c76ca.jpg

So the poor UTA pep band is in a tunnel surrounded by about 300-400 empty seats?

That seems like an upper management decision if I've ever seen one!

    - I love Rondel Walker's stat lines...like every game. does anyone know a site that gives +/- for the college game?

Sports-reference.com has a BPM column, which is Box Plus/Minus, but they don't update their stats too quickly.
Here's the link for their box score on the USF game.

In the past [ and I mean way back ] there was talk about having a holiday tournament in DFW with UNT,SMU,UTA, and TCU as participates.Naturally it sounded too good to be true, and as it turned out it wasn't.Oh well!

Agree that DFW needs a tournament between the four big local schools.  It makes so much sense that it seems crazy to not do it.  Apparently at least a couple of SMU fans agree.
