  1. It's pretty easy for me. Greer, just by his last name alone should be the choice of any self-respecting Texan . . . He'd wear the number 29 if he knows what's good for him, too.
  2. Next Saturday, the team will take the field at DKR Memorial Stadium and RV will look through his binoculars at our new (and improved, mind you) helmets, confused. He'll look over at Hank Dickenson, Mike Ashbaugh, Eric Capper and the other crapload of associate/assitant/deputy ADs we have and ask them who the Longhorns are playing and why they're not at the North Texas game.
  3. Well, I'm a 5' 10" white dude and have about a 7" vertical . . . but I'm deadly from outside. Seriously, I can hit some long distance shots. But my inside game is tuh-ruble.
  4. I'm on board with it. It certainly makes a better helmet logo than words in Times New Roman or Calligraphy.
  5. Let's say an optimistic 8-5 after a bowl victory. I'm feeling cautiously optimistic.
  6. According to the great Brett Vito, this is potentially a preview of this season's #UNTHelmet pic.twitter.com/gMUDWPJQul — Stephen Francis (@MrSteveFrancis) August 14, 2014 EDIT -- Dang, Texas Stranger was a hair quicker than me.
  7. Well, he's listed as being from Denton, and Jaskulske a pretty uncommon last name. Based on that and the bit of resemblance I see, I'm pretty sure he's her son.
  8. Dude, is that Prof. Jaskulske's kid (RTVF Senior Lecturer/Advisor)? That's awesome.
  9. All the more reason to issue a butt-whoopin' in Austin on 8/30. I've never wanted to see us win so badly. Well, I did want us to win the Heart of Dallas Bowl pretty badly but still. This is different.
  10. I know, but saying "Yes sir, I agree" wouldn't have been as funny.
  11. Then why does a beer that's been in my fridge for a couple of weeks start to taste like the can? Wait, I may have answered my own question -- Drink ALL the beer within a couple of weeks so that this doesn't happen. I'd better get to work, fellas!
  12. Here's the dirty little secret, or at least my theory: The "BIG" P5 schools (the ones that are almost always on top of the P5 standings) don't care one bit about this. In fact, they kind of like it because they're going to turn those same "little" P5 schools into their annual whipping boys. All they really care about is that they have the numbers going with them in favor of separating so that it will happen. The Texas and Alabamas of the world want the Texas Techs and the Vanderbilts to blindly follow them so that they can turn them into the schedule-fillers that they have now. The schools that are tagging along are simply being used.
  13. I wasn't really directing that at you, per se. It was more about the ruling out of other schools that already have a rivalry. I think Tech is a good comparison. Although Texas REALLY started hating them there for a while during the Leach years.
  14. Does a school have to be limited to just one rivalry? I mean Notre Dame has several (USC, Michigan State, Navy, Purdue, Boston College, Stanford, Army and PIttsburgh) and until A&M bolted for the SEC, Texas had A&M and Oklahoma. I personally consider SMU a rival just because of proximity. I don't care that SMU already has one with TCU. I still consider them our "closest" rival. Now, if you were to say we could only have one "main" rival, well that's different point entirely.
  15. Dang, you guys are making me re-think my 7-5 prediction!! I wanna say 8-4 or even 9-3 just because of that but I'm going to remain conservative and keep my 7-5. But just know that I definitely think this team is capable of running the table. While I don't see that happening, I'd be less surprised than those outside our program would be.
  16. Will our beatdown of the Longhorns be carried live on Mean Green All-Access? I ask because I have DirecTV and they don't carry the Longhorn Network.
  17. I'm honestly hoping for 7-5 or better. Yes, we lost a lot of starters from last season, but it's not like we're replacing every one of them with inexperienced players. As has been pointed out, aside from QB, Coach Mac did a lot of rotating our guys in and out of games last season to keep everyone fresh and get them some experience at the same time. I think that's going to give us depth this year and help this team be a little more well-conditioned than last year. I also believe that Coach Mac's attitude and ability to push our guys brings a lot of intangibles to the table for us. It's partly on us as fans to show up even better than we did last season and fill Apogee a few times this season. Man, I can't wait for kickoff on August 30th. It cannot get here soon enough. Beat Texsa, Hit 6, Hit30k, Fill Apogee and GO MEAN GREEN!!!
  18. I became a student in 2013. I suffered through a season that could have seen us win 10-11 only to win 9. /sarcasm I'm kidding, I couldn't have been any more proud of that 2013 team! While they set the bar really high for me, I do have realistic expectations and hope that this season is equally as fun to take part in as last season was. There's no reason we shouldn't contend for the Conference title again this year. But before conference play starts, let's beat Texsa and Shmuu!!!
  19. Dude, the Blue Angels put on a much better show than the Thunderbirds. But that is a pretty sweet uniform idea.
