  1. Ah, gotcha. Sorry for the poor interpretation.
  2. So does UT, so does Tech, so does LSU, so does USC...a great music program has nothing to do with a lack of athletics. The CoM is underfunded too compared to the programs I listed above.
  3. Where is Jimmerson?! I don't understand why we haven't gotten him the ball yet....
  4. Man, I couldn't agree more. We were in section 120, row 3 and the students behind us and some alumni in front of us were not only crossing the line, but were just plain wrong. They were incredibly ignorant to the game and couldn't be more distant from an acceptable understanding of football. It was pretty sad... I spent a lot of time heckling (especially in the basketball band) and I always made sure to never cross the line. I just don't understand where the ridiculousness comes from.
  5. I can't wait for this one. I had to work all day last Saturday and had to give my season tickets away for that game. I'm really excited to sit in those new "Young Alumni" seats and the rain certainly won't stop me...
  6. They're sooooo underachieving: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/681190-college-football-2011-ohio-state-and-the-25-best-damn-bands-in-the-land/page/26
  7. Section 5, Row 12. 11 of us so far (all recent grads). We ordered through the HOD site because we all was ted to sit together. If it's in the wrong section then at least we won't be alone...
  8. Elder Benford is working for the other team in this one...
  9. Nick did this as well at Fouts, though with new restrictions in time allowed and space at Appogee, it's not the same as when you marched.
  10. Forgot to add as well that as a music education major (the vast majority of the band) learning techniques for Corps style marching is highly beneficial to your career. The best high school programs in the country march Corps style and being an alumni of the GB makes you look very hireable in an interview for a high school BD gig.
  11. Silver.... The "style" you refer to of the GB is "Corps" style. Check DCI.org for a better idea of what the GB is going for. Dr. Williams is the director of the GB you refer to and his response to Rick is spot on. The students in the GB make a huge time commitment in order to play more difficult music (better than most, btw) and march substantially more difficult drill (also better than most) than the large majority of college marching bands. Oh, and they only get 1 credit hour for the six hours/week they rehearse. The idea is that it is substantially more important to put on a great half time show than to walk on the field in a certain way... Comparing us to Michigan in band terms (and Michigan is AWESOME at what they do) would be like comparing a 72 Stingray to a brand new C7 Corvette. Both are gorgeous and have incredibly appealing aspects that may fill the holes of the other.
