From my interpretation, it said mcnulty competed for the right to earn the starting job, and for Greer it said that he competed throughout spring for the "opportunity". Just saying both of you guys could have explained how you interpreted it. Instead, unt90 decided he was just gonna completely dismiss it because he never misreads anything, and you had to put the "touch the screen" comment. Sorry, but most people read this sight on phones or tablets now. I wasn't trying to be condescending at all. Either way still seems like either poor or leading wording whether intentional or not.

I know, and yeah I was drunk. None the less, I did say I didn't say it was guaranteed that we'd lose. I just want people to temper expectations. I used to be the guy that thought we could beat ANYBODY, but then reality(Todd Dodge) happened. I just wanted people to temper expectations so they aren't demoralized if we have a bad game. That being said, if we win, we SHOULD be the most obnoxious fans. Screw the high road. We've been the stepsister far to long. Guys, I don't want a bunch of negatives for this post, but we are not going to beat UT. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we can't pull the upset. I also see that this is the best case scenario with all the ut players out, but I really wish this had happened last year. Guys, despite all the suspensions, coach change, hope, etcetera. They still have a senior qb, the number 1 rb in the nation, and all 4/5 star recruits. We should compete, but we won't win as much as id love to. We just aren't there yet. Please don't hate me. I still love this team, and the future of it.

You make good points, but so does Brett. For the longest time we have always expected these kids that have never done anything to be studs. Brelan was a surprise to us all, but Riley was in the end a disappointment from what we expected him to be. You never know what you are gonna end up getting from players that haven't performed yet. I think we all undervalued dt a bit, but let's face it he wasn't a game changer. I think the key to our season is defense, and finding a st/deep threat to replace Brelan. If we can do that, we are gonna be ok. I really think our offense is gonna put up similar numbers provided our online stays healthy.

Looks like they are just using the stats of returning players. If that's the case, it's not to far off point. We lose almost all of our top producers. Unfortunately, in a system like this o-linemen don't provide stats. Also, it says it uses recruiting rankings, which we know we don't really excel in. This is just a system built from numbers. Does it suck for us and outside perception, yes, but another winning season, and you'll really start to see the worm turn.

Sorry to bring this back to topic, but I hate this quote. With this thinking, how do we expect to beat out bigger schools for recruits? Just frustrating to read this, then read how people wonder when we are gonna start beating out the bigger schools. I know Manziel wasn't highly recruited, but look what he did for that school. What if this kid does the same thing for tech?
