  1. Scrappy D....is there an easier link? This one wants my CBS webmail user name & password...I'm a simple caveman. Precheatchu 3XL
  2. Pot...meet Kettle 90 seriously "What's wrong with you?" Why do you always sound like an angry alcoholic? Were you the kid that never got invited to anything...and if you did...you were never invited back? Why?...because you didn't know how to act right. Your Stupid Troll BS has worn thin...and doesn't benifit our school. You know who talks that much TRASH? answer "trashy people" Maybe you should take a knee for 6-12 months...
  3. this... it's embarrissing to have NT people put down UTSA....we look scared, jealous & foolish. Who cares if they've had football for 5 years? Their 5 year old program beat our 100+ years of football twice. Good for them...they're committed to working the D1 football puzzle while we stare blankly at it. We want better teams like UTSA in C-USA. It's a joke...kinda like critizing someone driving a KIA when you drive a Hyundai ...both good cars...but neither is a Cadillac.
  4. 2015 Study of 65 P5 Schools Primary Logo for Sports Merchandising & Branding. Out of the 65 (Big Boy) P5 colleges...9 are mascot-heavy as a primary logo on majority of their sports spirit gear, clothing, facilities and correspondence. The Mascot-Nine are: Arkansas, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Iowa, Kansas, K-State, Louisville, Penn State & Texas. 3 are Combos: Kansas, Colorado & Washington State The majority of the remaining 53 colleges use "lettered logos" for their center courts, mid-fields, stadium seats, sports letterheads, flags, cups, koozies, coolers, baseball hats, caps, shirts, jackets & golf gear... "letters are better" for college Expand the Brand North Texas should brand similar to North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Notre Dame, Baylor, Oklahoma, Southern California, Texas A&M, Texas Tech & Auburn.
  5. we gotta go back to the past to save our future...
  6. agree with Ben Gooding...as much as some on here may want to stick their head in the sand and say that uniforms are not a small factor in recruiting...they're wrong. The proof is in the P5 college numbers. When traditional powerhouse colleges like Michigan, Notre Dame & Oklahoma have an "alternate" uniform...admittedly for recruiting...then it's a factor. Out the 65 P5 colleges...all but 4...Alabama, Southern California, Penn State & Texas have had an alternate uniform.(*in the 2014 season...USC had chrome facemask for some games & Texas had a metallic longhorn the last 4 or 5 games of 2014). Plus part of these traditional schools draw "is" their "traditional" uniforms. What kid would not be excited to put on a storied uniform and play top tier football for a Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC, Texas or Alabama, etc. Reality is a majority of the D1 programs are not these elite 15 programs. The point is...whether it's traditional, an alternate or both...uniforms are a part of the equation. hands down...I personally prefer Oklahoma & Notre Dame's traditional & boring uniforms over their alternates or Oregon's metal feathers or Maryland's "Medieval Times" uniforms. as far as alternates...who cares...if your school has the budget for an alternate...do it. It's fun for a game or two...most of the students, athletes & the fans like it.
  7. not the same...our school can't use per our own Alumni Association...which is ridiculous....but it's on the letterman's jacket? come on...90 you know me...helmets are simply a "gateway drug" to me...my name is 3XL and I have issues... besides...you're screwing with me. later you can fill in the SAME blank with....West Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Oklahoma....doesn't matter your argument sucks!

UNTFan23 - you seriously need to read a little book called "Who Moved My Cheese"
  9. that's correct...not on their helmet...but you will see their interlocked SC logo on their jersey and a lot of their spirit merchandise. The Trojans are part of the 17% of P5's that use mascot only on their helmet & part of the 91% of P5's that use initialed logo (SC or USC) as a big part of their spirit gear. (see attached)
  10. Really!?! ..that's one of the weakest 90 post. Most anyone "who is talking college" within 400 miles knows "North Texas" & anyone outside that 400 miles doesn't care.... Your reasoning or example above is total b.s. for any directional or state named schools....Southern California, North Carolina, Western Kentucky or Western Michigan....you pick...doesn't matter. Now schools like Tulane, Villanova, Vanderbelt & Marquette...they have other issues...non North Texas issues....like too expensive, hard to get in, my dorm doesn't have a valet and nobody knows where they're located...ha!

    P5 helmet logo study

(uhhhhh...did you read the chart?) there is zero "ambiguity" in regards to P5 universities. (Big Boy) College: 8 of 10 P5 schools use "lettered intitial" to brand the majority of their spirit gear. NFL: with exception of a few Chicago, Green Bay, NYG, San Fran...the Pros brand a majority of their spirit gear with "non-lettered" logos. HS- too many...doesn't matter. Everyone is worried about losing our identity...change...or looking like everyone else? Question: How well has going against the football college trends & traditions worked the last 100 years for North Texas? Many P5 schools have changed or evolved their helmets over time...have we had a lot...yes...too many...maybe...it's ok....so has...TCU, Iowa State, Miss State, Wash State, Kansas State and many others...who cares... College Football is huge business... I don't want North Texas to lose their identity....I just want North Texas to look more collegiate.

  15. I think I read what you're saying....and feel most of us on here would "agree" with you....but it is a small part of today's equation. This thread is really less about what a recruit likes, doesn't like and is he going to succeed on the field or in school and more about branding & marketing like a big boy college. Do we want to look more like North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Baylor, Texas A&M, Texas Tech & Auburn? or Do we want to look more like Southern Miss, Troy, Western Kentucky, Western Michigan, Nevada & the University of Pheonix?

agreed...that is was what I originally commissioned. My graphic designer could not find a good "pure side" template...and a custom would be too expensive...so we have a 3/4 view...

    P5 helmet logo study

...not implying that the mascot logo schools are doing anything wrong...they're not...it works for their school. My point is that North Texas needs to add a strong intitialed logo to the "current available" logos to use where best suited. That's what the big schools do....it's more collegiate. Look at the bottom of my first comment....8 out of 10 P5's.

    P5 helmet logo study

NT is left out because the schools listed are P5 teams...the numbers show that this is how big boy colleges brand. P5s have a much better idea how to manage and market their brand vs the G5s. This is less about helmets and more about collegiate marketing and branding as a whole. I would much rather have North Texas brand and market more like North Carolina, Baylor, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Auburn, West Virginia or Georgia Tech and less like Southern Miss, Troy, Florida Atlantic, Nevada, Western Michigan, Western Kentucky...or the University of Phoenix.
