  1. thank you Harry for posting...interesting stuff. Many of these fan sites talk about the same topics & concerns that we do. They all want their school to be better...that's it. I was interested in any uniform talk: - Southern Miss introduces new 2015 uniforms. IMO...they looked "really great" for Russell brand. The So-Miss Eagles added some grey as alternate color & removed the terrible horn stripes on helmet, pants & jerseys for home/away. (will continue with black facemask, shoes, socks.) Our other Eagle Conference mates continue to do a great job working the D1 G5 Football101 puzzle...open up at "HOME" vs Miss-State. Am I a little jealous..."yes"....but...good for them. - Marshall - rumored to debut new alternate 2015 black uniforms. (will continue with black facemask, shoes, socks & and no horn stripes for regular home & away unis). Our other Green Conference mates continue to do a great job working the D1 G5 Football101 puzzle...open up at "HOME" vs Purdue. Am I a little jealous..."yes"...but...good for them.
  2. looking forward to 2018 in Madison ...hopefully NT will have some new collegiate looking unis by then... sans sabor tooth tiger stripe pants & goofy HS jerseys....who signs off on this crap? Captain sweater vest & mustache? We seriously need take away the keys and have an intervention....we couldn't design or punch ourself out of a wet paper bag. letters are better & expand the brand

since we we are certainly clueless misfits in the land of Uniformville...I wish we could just do our basic classic 60's throwback that 817Fan posted with a green or white helmet, one stripe & grey face mask. (no logo)
  4. those are both terrific examples of sad & depressing... I was thinking more like unhappy pet cats being dressed up in little stupid outfits & hats by their crazy delusional owners depressing...
  5. couldn't agree more...these new unis are beyond sad & depressing...even the players in the video look depressed... we're doing it wrong...again go meh green

  8. College Football is by far my favorite sport to watch. Best crowd in sports with a mixture of alumni, fans, students, cheer squads & band. P5 root for: Oklahoma, Michigan, TCU P5 root against: Baylor, A&M & Ole Miss G5 root for: North Texas, Houston, Boise State G5 root against: SMU
  9. oh...and the CFP at 4 teams was a huge success for college football. It could not have worked out much better with the #1 & #2 seeds losing and #4 seed winning with their 3rd string quarterback. really not sure...even if the CFP expands to 6-8 teams...that a G5 gets in....it's big business & about money. (maybe BYU or Boise) same goes for some P5's... i.e. "if Mississippi State & Ole Miss finished the year ranked #1 & #2"...both in SEC & in the same small state...doubt the CFP committee would let both in." 6 could be kinda cool with a bye for #1 & #2 seeds..and a chance at a G5 moonshot. Personally...I am happy with 4...if the big boys want in...stop whining & start winning.
  10. totally agree...I really like the simple Y logo. For the last 2 years...I've told Cowtown that NT really needs one of these giant spirit banners for some "fan fun & entanglement." TCU has one that says "Fear the Frog"....Google "TCU Fear the Frog banner" for image. Our big banner should simply say "MEAN GREEN". Expand the Brand
  11. No...but maybe the TCU fans posting could be like many of our GMG.com posters...old, out of touch or pessimistic. The players & fans on the field during the unveil looked excited. I posted this because: it interest me TCU is another local D1 school TCU is committed to winning TCU is committed improving TCU is not afraid of change TCU has yet to don goofy "horn striped pants" TCU has not had a "white facemask" in over 25 years TCU will use many tools & resources to improve their football program TCU athletics focus on "football" has been beneficial to their school & the local economy. so Ryan...for you...in the most simple terms....if it's "good for football"...it's "good for the school". I also believe that "good design is good business". Whether it's a regular "uniform" or an "alternate uniform"....the uniform should look well designed and not "ugly". It's "part" of the equation for many schools. (Do you think Baylor & TCU have to recruit a little different than their conference mate Texas?) I threw this article out here for public consumption and gave my opinion...guess what...if TCU missed the mark..."which I think they may have"...they'll try something else...soon..." TCU has had over 15+ different football helmets over their history...and you know what "nobody cares" and that's ok...their current logo is working well for them. Most G5 universities that have had a football program over 50 years have had 10+ different helmets. People worry that NT has too many helmets (13+)...get another and lose our identity...yea right...just find one that looks collegiate and stick with for a while...not a big deal...things evolve and change. Iowa State has had 15+ helmets but finally landed on a good collegiate look. I admire TCU's ability to make a plan and execute it...to see their current status, conference or record...not be satisfied and keep pushing, market, brand, hire, recruit and schedule their way to success. 12. yes...I mentioned when I posted this that I too am not a fan of the camouflage...its a little too much...but so are many of Oregons & Boise State's combinations... Excluding the Alabama, Texas, USC and Penn States of the world... the point is...love them or hate them...uniforms are a tool for "recruiting purposes"...even traditional schools like Notre Dame & Oklahoma have recently opened up to the idea... I'm sure that the Battleship Purple camoflage unis are not intended to please you, me or their country club alumni...they were made to please the young 18 year old recruits that could possibly help TCU win more games. TCU fans "do like" the wins. I admire progress and trying to improve your own position...it is..."free market enterprise."
  13. http://www.star-telegram.com/sports/college/big-12/texas-christian-university/article18248906.html today's current climate continues to prove that uniforms are a part of the equation for college football... I personally lean to a more traditional "sans" camoflage look...but you gotta love TCU's efforts to recruit young people and stir up interest with their fans... Expand the Brand 3XL

  15. RIP my father... after reviewing my cleared checks...my dad once asked me "what's this Sack and Save place...you sure do go there a lot..."
  16. publicity is publicity...good, bad or whatever We're talking about a football game...not covering up a crime...so yes...win or lose...I think the exposure would benifit North Texas more than it would hurt.
  17. this is what mid-majors G5's do... heck...more and more P5's are now part of the weeknight TV games. personally...I look at this as a positive for North Texas. We serve as a Thursday night "fix" for all those college football junkies...lots of people watching the Mean Green that otherwise would not... I still have fond memories of watching North Texas on tv while working in North Carolina a few years ago...
  18. our best is yet to come,...
  19. The North Texas Athletic Dept. really should push for a +1 additional NT logo to use in sports merchandising... ...everywhere I look there's cool sports gear for the P5's... 1) This last week, I received a nice "Westport" catalog in the mail...one page offered your school's lettered or mascot logo on "your choice" name brand - jacket, sweater, polo shirt or dress shirt...the classic P5's colleges were all there...most of them had lettered logos...(ie) Tennessee's T, Auburn's AU, North Carolina's NC, Texas A&M's ATM, etc... 2) I recently Googled "Top College Logos"...yep...7 out of the top 10 are on my list above...the next 10 had 7 schools with lettered logos. Why North Texas would imitate the University of Phoenix or Florida Atlantic instead of North Carolina or Auburn? boggles the mind...we could promote the NT, MEAN GREEN, North Texas & the eagle...all of them...as needed. 3) I took the family out to eat tonight in Fort Worth...saw a sports fan guy wearing a simple KU beanie hat...didn't have their bird on it...or KU...just spelled JAYHAWKS...is it possible to just simply put MEAN GREEN on a few items here or there without our eagle... it's a fact..."letters are better" for college...8 out of 10 (big boy schools) P5 agree... yes...winning will help everything...but personally...I am just kinda tired & done with looking like FAU & the U of Phoenix. This is an easy fix...much easier than say...scheduling, fundraising, hiring coaches, getting fans to show up and winning constantly... +1 logo "Expand the Brand" Use them ALL...why not? There is only one "North Texas"...one "NT"...& one "MEAN GREEN" in college sports...let's use that to our advantage when branding & marketing our school. NORTH TEXAS, MEAN GREEN, NT, UNT & EAGLE....that's who we are...it's our heritage..

  21. ...that's funny! "btw...I get the reference of this started as commentary about the movie (I am Sam) which then became a punch line for another movie (Tropic Thunder)." There's no doubt...that 90 has gone Full-Tard. I keep thinking that 90 could be someone's 2nd avatar. (ie Ben Gooding's wife)...some sort of Bizzaro-Harry trying to stir up the forum with crazy talk...(heck of a commitment) but if it truly is one dude & his thoughts...it's a little sad. When I see his post so many things come to mind...angry...homophob...jorts...troll...Coach90....Queen90... and now adding "Simple Jack" & Tard90.
