I voted A- and yes...I know...I'm looking through green colored glasses while drinking a midori sour...but I really liked his OC hire Graham Harrell in week one...
Harrel & Littrell are part of the Leach coaching tree. (unrelated...but I so wanted RV to reach out to Leach when he was relieved at Tech...seriously doubt that he even bothered to put down his sandwich to dial...#thanksRV)
So far...in the 7-8 days..we have two young coaches from this area....who know what it takes to play & win at the next big step from high school...young & hungry....works for me.
welcome to Denton coaches

ESPN and SEC network make UNT the joke of college football
No, that should read, North Texas athletic administration, in constant quest to grab easy cash, has made UNT the joke of college football

This OU Baylor game is why I love this sport so much!
totally agree...
I too...attended the OU-BU game on Saturday. Two conference mates slugging it out toe to toe...neither team giving up.
College football...hands down...is my favorite sport to watch...with the tailgating, the bands, the traditions, the cheer squads, the fans, the alumni & the students...it's a lot of fun...when you're competitive...

I'm in for this one too...time for change.
cowtown & I spoke today...it's so damn depressing...we just want 6 win seasons...middle of the pack & low in the saddle seasons...

Harry truly is the voice of reason & class....but...personally....I'm ok with it.
North Texas is a public institution....similar to a "publicly traded" company....we are all invested shareholders & we have a voice.
Our decision makers should be held accountable for the health & wealth of our company.
We as shareholders have a right to express our opinion by opting out, buying in or calling out an unpopular AD.
RV's a big boy...he's been here a long time and has been well compensated. I'm thinking...if it's too hot...then get out of the kitchen. People with higher salaries typically have a certain amount of pressure to perform well.
We have seen our NT stock share price rise & fall over the last 14 years.
"it's just business"...time for RV to move on.

I think it is probably time for change. I don't agree with all the over the top venom used by a few to seemingly root for his firing. No reason for all of the personal attacks, either.

Question: Has anybody on this board called our AD...fat & lazy?
If not...well..."fat & lazy" is no way to go through life or run a mid-major G5 athletic department.
We need someone smart & hungry to work the NT puzzle/problem.

yes...fire Captain Kangaroo before any more damage can be done.
...it would be a sound business decision to cut our loses now.

The 17 big donors that Flyonthewall (he is one) has said support RV's "vision."
It is clear that North Texas needs a "new" vision.

Look at Boise.
They will hire coaches from non FBS schools.
Allen was HC at Portland St.
Nutt was HC at Murray ST.
Hawkins was HC at Williamette.
Petersen was QB coach at Portland St and receivers coach at Oregon. He was hired as as OC at Boise and "groomed" for a few years.
Harsin was HC at Arkansas St for 1 year. He had been Boise's OC when they had 2 undefeated seasons and was 61 - 5 as their OC.
Boise became Boise by hiring good HC coaches from smaller schools. (with the exception fo Petersen)
Look, how hard is it to recruit at Florida, OU, Alabama, etc.
It may be misleading to think a coach from one of those schools is a great recruiter when the school is so easy to recruit to.
A coach who has been successful as a HC at a school with limited resources, recruits well, spots talent that others overlooked, & has had success as HC.
A non HC from a big school that is so easy to recruit to may be in way over his head here.
Just my opinion.

I work with a twenty something NT graduate.
This recent grad told me that it was not uncommon to see players drinking at parties the night before the games.
This was during the Mac era...if true we need a total culture shift...it shows total lack of control & discipline.
Many schools that "take football seriously" put their student athletes up in a hotel on "home" games...

...thanks for sharing Skipper.
RV's latest uniforms match his record....they are freaking horrible
He needs to stick to what he knows best...sandwich eating & pizza delivering.
He doesn't get it...never will...must go...
NT deserves better than Big Ricky

RV must go...now
We can not let this mustached, Captain Kangaroo looking, big Buddha, sweater vest wearing, Jimmy John sandwich eating, Domino's pizza delivering AD hire one more coach or pick out one more football uniform....period.
His record shows that he is in way over his head, doesn't get it & truly sucks.

thank you Harry for posting...interesting stuff. Many of these fan sites talk about the same topics & concerns that we do. They all want their school to be better...that's it.
I was interested in any uniform talk:
- Southern Miss introduces new 2015 uniforms. IMO...they looked "really great" for Russell brand. The So-Miss Eagles added some grey as alternate color & removed the terrible horn stripes on helmet, pants & jerseys for home/away. (will continue with black facemask, shoes, socks.) Our other Eagle Conference mates continue to do a great job working the D1 G5 Football101 puzzle...open up at "HOME" vs Miss-State. Am I a little jealous..."yes"....but...good for them.
- Marshall - rumored to debut new alternate 2015 black uniforms. (will continue with black facemask, shoes, socks & and no horn stripes for regular home & away unis). Our other Green Conference mates continue to do a great job working the D1 G5 Football101 puzzle...open up at "HOME" vs Purdue. Am I a little jealous..."yes"...but...good for them.

We seriously need take away the keys and have an intervention....we couldn't design or punch ourself out of a wet paper bag.
letters are better & expand the brand

like kids with cancer sad and depressing or more like refugees with missing body parts from land mines sad and depressing?
just trying to understand the scope of this tragedy.
those are both terrific examples of sad & depressing...
I was thinking more like unhappy pet cats being dressed up in little stupid outfits & hats by their crazy delusional owners depressing...

Worst ones they've ever had, and that's saying something! Who approved this garbage?????
The stripes? The font? The colors? Vomit!!! 90s futuristic, arena football looking crap. So bad. Ugh!
couldn't agree more...these new unis are beyond sad & depressing...even the players in the video look depressed...
we're doing it wrong...again

College Football is by far my favorite sport to watch. Best crowd in sports with a mixture of alumni, fans, students, cheer squads & band.
P5 root for:
Oklahoma, Michigan, TCU
P5 root against:
Baylor, A&M & Ole Miss
G5 root for:
North Texas, Houston, Boise State
G5 root against:
SMU

oh...and the CFP at 4 teams was a huge success for college football. It could not have worked out much better with the #1 & #2 seeds losing and #4 seed winning with their 3rd string quarterback.
really not sure...even if the CFP expands to 6-8 teams...that a G5 gets in....it's big business & about money. (maybe BYU or Boise)
same goes for some P5's...
i.e. "if Mississippi State & Ole Miss finished the year ranked #1 & #2"...both in SEC & in the same small state...doubt the CFP committee would let both in."
6 could be kinda cool with a bye for #1 & #2 seeds..and a chance at a G5 moonshot.
Personally...I am happy with 4...if the big boys want in...stop whining & start winning.

I am waiting on a call from the BYU marketing department regarding the large silk banner they wave in ROC section at basketball and football games.
Once I find out further information about the price for such a production I will announce the details and get a donation fund rolling. At some point we will need to coordinate with the Talons regarding the maintenance and visual unveiling details.
Back with more soon.
GMG
P.S. - to see the Banner I am looking into see it on YouTube under BYU ROC Section and for the fathead idea see the video Miss It Baby.
totally agree...I really like the simple Y logo.
For the last 2 years...I've told Cowtown that NT really needs one of these giant spirit banners for some "fan fun & entanglement."
TCU has one that says "Fear the Frog"....Google "TCU Fear the Frog banner" for image.
Our big banner should simply say "MEAN GREEN".
Expand the Brand

But not exemplified in TCU's new unis or your designs.
